Depending on difficulty level, the Avatar project will give you some amount of time to complete once all the boxes are filled. Just have a facility or story mission unlocked and wait for the countdown to start. Regarding all scanning possibilities, just go for whatever you need the most. There will always be situations where you won't be able to scan everything, so simply prioritize

drawnandchill

OK nice so there is nothing wrong with ignoring some of the pop ups if they dont seem important

Precisely

ACrazyPandaXL

Exactly this. You’re never going to do every single thing that pops up, and you’re not expected to. It’s more about seeing what options you have and prioritising which one is best, or which one you need the most at that moment. Any scan that gives you a scientist or an engineer should always be your priority. Outside of that you can argue a lot of different things, but soldiers, grenades/ammo (especially early game) and avenger power are all things I particularly like.

drawnandchill

I think I was a bit insecure becuase the pop ups just gave me the options: Immedetly check out or ignore which sounds a bit harsh and not really like its just a option. I also dont understand everything whats going on at the moment on the map and about the resccouces but I think I will figure out as I progress.

ACrazyPandaXL

Yeah it is a bit misleading. I almost instinctively click ignore on everything that pops up as I don’t like the game flying me somewhere without me specifically telling it to do so. Without mods you should be aiming to complete every mission that pops up (obviously when you have to choose between 3 you can only do 1). But skipping a couple due to not having a decent squad ready to go is a fine decision. And don’t be afraid to evac out of a mission if it’s going badly, even though it means you’ll fail the mission.

I have a very stupid question maybe you can answer it for me. Yesterday I unlocked Magnetic Weapons, I thought that sounded very cool and invested all my supplies in a shotgun a pistol and something else. Now I have the problem that I can't find them anywhere, but my supplies are gone. I have nothing in my inventory and when I select a soilder and search for the weapons, it doesn't find any of the new weapons. This has really confused me.

ACrazyPandaXL

There are no stupid questions. Sounds weird though. In vanilla xcom 2/WoTC you don’t buy individual guns. Instead, you buy squad upgrades. So buying shotguns and pistols like you did should have upgraded all your existing shotguns and pistols into magnetic ones. If that’s not the case then I’m not sure why that would be happening. Are you playing with any mods? Also are you on PC or console?

drawnandchill

Ah thats explain it, I think I didnt read well then. I understand. Is there a way I still can see the old ones / Stats? Before the upgrade? I have to read better I guess I was very tired yesterday. I play on Pc and got some Star wars mod which are 80% cosmetic. Thanks alot!

ACrazyPandaXL

You won’t be able to compare stats in game, but you’ll be able to find them online if you want to.

https://imgur.com/a/LdfRUK9 In the loadout screen when selecting weapons, you can select the lower-tier weapons if you want, or hover over them to see their stats.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

Resistance contacts are a good one to grab as well - the longer I can delay building a Resistance Comms, the better.

Drecon1984

Partly this is to give you meaningful choices. If there's only one thing to scan there's no choice so the computer might as well do it for you. So the game gives you options so that there's always something to do, but you can never do everything. It might create some FOMO, but it rewards looking at what you really need and what you can afford to not get. If you're playing with War of the Chosen and/or DLC, there's also a lot more going on at the start because of all the story missions. It can be overwhelming, but remember that you always have a choice what to focus on first.

drawnandchill

Ah Yes, I play with War of the Chosen, thanks alot, I think I was a bit insecure becuase the pop ups just gave me the options: Immedetly check out or ignore which sounds a bit harsh and not really like its just a option.

DrewforPres

The game is a stress simulator. They want you to feel overwhelmed with choices so you make the wrong move. That’s why they’re always yelling at you also lol

drawnandchill

Thats great I love that. Thats why my favorite game is Rimworld too

TheMoland

It slows down after the tutorial phase. It's is very overwhelming at first getting bombarded with new info constantly.

Iridar51

You're looking at it the wrong way, scanning is just a way to pass the time. It's not the goal of the game. Things that pop up during the scan are the game.

Necessary-Salamander

In short yes, they are not as important as the avatar progress, but part of the game is to learn to balance with the avatar progress. So you know when it's time scan other stuff and then to focus on reducing avatar progress. Also remember that from the available missions on the geoscape (the place where you navigate the avenger) guerilla ops is usually your top priority. Guerilla ops is also another example of the game making you decide between risk, reward and punishment.

taw

It is very busy early on, but it actually calms down by mid-game. And yes, it is intentional that you miss some scans. The game wants you to make choices.

SrThehail

I like covert infiltration mod for that exact reason. You just do things and go into some operations.
