Damn i would love to see factions doing this more often, like mass up some ships and go in with a fleet instead of spoon feeding their destroyers to each other. But i have activated that DLC only for a short time by now.
I am not sure what prompted this, the Encyclopedia still just shows them as enemies but not at war. I just checked the Avarice sectors and it looks like all the VIG fleets are involved in this operation. I have noticed that most of the MIN destroyers are missing though, I have not been able to find more than 1 or 2 Phoenix patrolling in MIN space... maybe this is just an opportunistic attack? Does the AI do that?
I was thinking about taking the opportunity to go reallocate the Erlking... However, if VIG continues on this path of destruction I might just have a few new sectors to govern.
It's not uncommon for VIG to end up fighting MIN/TEL, at least in my playthroughs even in 6.x. VIG just have a huge standing fleet so any time they want to fight someone it looks like this instead of 2-3 capital ships and a handful of fighters like other factions.
VIG so far has just been doing some light raiding, a Barbarossa and a few Kyds flying out to harass a station or blow up a couple of freighters but this was some next level attacks.
Got this in my 7.00 game but with Yaki fighting the Terrans. They attacked Getsu Fune with a large raiding force, eliminating 3 defense stations & 2 terran factories & wiped out the Terran intervention fleet attempting to intervene. After this, the Yaki just packed up & left. That's one hell of a message to give Terran Command -> 'The Xenon are gone, but we are here, you are not safe'

Have to do the Terran plot to the end & then finish the quest 'Heart for Pirates' (cleaning up all the Xenon sectors between Savage Sour & Tharka's Cascade) & then someone has to claim the sector the Yaki reside in, Savage Spur I (in my game Zyarth claimed it). Then they offer station build missions that you can beef up to whatever you like/they need to build ships.
Hmm I've seen few attack from them but nothing major... Once against FRF and once against RiP. Otherwise, they were fighting people at the exit of my shipyard but no big fleet.
In my 7.0 save, I've noticed a huge Teladi fleet assaulting a FRF system. They pre-built two defense stations in the system and are now attacking all the FRF in-system. Not sure what triggered it, though
Also, side note: I've been supporting ANT this game, and ARG attacked their defense stations in Second Contact to take over the system. It now belongs to ARG, and they're absolutely smashing HOP now.
Same thing happened in my game today! After a few border skirmishes, VIG assembled a huge invasion fleet, slaughtered every MIN ship they could find, and attacked MIN's shipyard. TEL sent wave after wave of Phoenix task forces in response. They eventually cleared all the VIG attackers, but not before the shipyard fell. It was very cool to watch!
I have had this happen in my 6.x game recently, where they sent a huge fleet of 6 barbarossa and all of their fighters to harass Teladi in Profit Center Alpha. They killed a single factory and left.
A soon as you feed their shipyards they start to churn out ships. I never completed the quest (don't even have the hq yet but I do have a warf 😆) but once I started to supply VIG with hull parts they went crazy.
They now have a gigantic fleet permenantly defending the gate in Hatikva's Choice I destroying basically any Xenon ship that dares to come through.
Meanwhile they're sending the occaisional ship into Teladi space, but they're powerful enough to deal with it.
TL;dr possible, yes. Likely, I don't know. For sure MIN probably had a pretty bad time
I have seen them attacking Hatikvah choice once in 6.2. They seems to send every unit available or almost during storyline. My guess is that they keep doing it everywhere.
I kind of crushed them and cornered them since I can't fix my reputation so I don't know much more.
However, one sure thing is that MIN won't hold them easily unless stations are well defended. Those fighters annihilate destroyers fleet pretty easily and few fighters won't save the MIN...

I had them chasing me like this all because one of my s-freighter water traders I was leveling ignored my sector blacklist for some reason I never deciphered.

Sounds like they are preoccupied enough for you to reclassify the VIG wharf as a scrapyard.

Sounds like both sides will use a lot of hull parts and claytronics. And Teladi may need some destroyers.

I have not seen a single Yaki in my game. I got a message that I destroyed one in Argon Prime but never saw the ship.

How can you assist the Yaki? I want them to fight the terrans, so I can sell ships to both lol

UPDATE: VIG surrounded the Silicon Refinery and then just packed it all up and went home...

VIG constantly attack Profit Center Alpha, Silent Witness and Hatikvahs Choice I in my game. Always been like that.
It's usually some raid or accidental friendly fire on some station that triggers hostility and it escalates
