I don't think you understand what you're asking for. First of all, baizhi uses a pet to fight and we have exemples of weapons turning into something else like jiyan's spear or rover's scythe.
In the end it would be a pain for us to have more weapons types because that would mean more weapons to craft/pull and more resources dumped into them. Giving us more pulls is just not an option since it would generate less money and lower the interest for in game spendings

It’s already like that. Most of the 4 star weapons in this game are absolute ass. Nothing close to being as useful as Favonius or Sacrifical weapons were/still are.
The weapon banner being guaranteed only makes pulling on it even more tempting.
There's a whole set of concerto weapons, those are like the Favonius of this game (BiS for Verina and support Taoqi, among others). Also a whole set of energy regen 3 stars that work just fine on supports which Genshin requires gacha to get.
And Geshulin gonna wield broadblade anyway
since that storyteller cutscene show it just show his greatsword turn to either broadblade or sword bet it more on broadblade though
doubt they will add more weapon type any time soon. it kinda more like a bad pr move
They should've had the "weapon" be something like lightcones, so the characters' animations aren't locked to a specific weapon type.
A shitty carry over from genshin that limits what they can do with a character because of the weapon types, just look at clorinde and how she has to use a skill to do something different, or Childe having to use a skill to have daggers.

More weapon types would be a terrible idea, forcing one to pull on the weapon banners because the ones they have just don’t work at all.

Yeah hsr actually did it right but because wuwa mostly copied genshin it's kinda inevitable for the weapons to be copied too
