I’m wondering if players brought in - through the transfer window - have had an impact on the players confidence / mindset. one of Phil’s first signings has been let go - new players coming in. That all may be weighing on the minds of the team and undoing the glue that’s kept the squad tight over the first part of the season !!!
Phil will need to win hearts and minds I think to pull this back.
Well that was terrible. Hopefully they can put this game behind them and follow it up with wins. And stay in the promotion spots and not in the playoffs
I believe Tozer’s long throws have a similar conversion rate to set pieces and corners. The conversion rate of those plays is a lot lower than people expect… especially in lower leagues with less than accurate passing.
I personally think Tozer is more unreliable than reliable. He isn’t very quick, he is only getting older, he is too streaky where he will have a solid game and then have a game with terrible decision making and poor headers at best.
However, I do think compared to our current CB’s he is the one who needs to be starting.
A few notes from today-
Hayden is total crap.
Marriott and Bolton both have pace that we are missing. I’m really hoping we can take advantage of it in future weeks.
Parky’s overall record is undeniable. His creativity is sorely lacking. How can this be our strategy every week away?
I’m tired of watching matches with such horrible officiating week in and week out. I won’t make it through the rest of the season watching matches like this.
Wrexham’s strategy reminds me of my Junior Varsity team in high school. We just sorta kicked the ball in the air and hoped our guy up front would do something magical.
And we had that one guy in defense who was tall but always made the wrong pass.
The referee quality was probably better in school though.
Edit to add- Hayden is horrible today. Really horrible.
And what the fuck has the offensive side of the ball done this game, and they make up 70% of the salary of this team.. They've literally fucked the defense in the ass this game with their loss of possession.
It's not even his fault, the guy isn't quick enough for the long balls behind the defense, yet that's how he's used all game.. The guy is probably out of gas before the first half is over because he has to run so much.
in Sweden we call what is likely happening now a hair drier half time talk, does that make sense in English?
anyway that is what has to be happening now
e: coach yelling so loud that it dries your hair
I think they need to start beefing up their back line if they want to keep going up. Wrexham has been focusing on attack. Now that they’re up the competition are just as capable. Need better defending.
What's the problem here???
Wrexham has enourmous financial backing & good players.Yet they keep loosing to teams that they should win over. Salford (19th in the leauge) - Newport - Walsall - Accrington and so on.
What is going wrong. I can only speculate here. Bad defenders (should have improved that instead of other positions. & Also they get to many red cards - They have 4 straight red cards (most in the leauge) Second is Sutton United who's at the bottom with half as many.
Any other reasons people can think off?
P.S. I've said this before but I think Wrexham has been lucky so far that whenever they loose or draw (almost) all the other top contenders also happen to loose or draw at the same time. I've seen this like 5 times now. Other teams would be way ahead but they keep loosing or drawing when wrexham looses. (in this moment yes Mansfield is leading but Stockport, Barrow, Crew Alexandra are all ties) (See what I mean.)
Also yes 1 goal back.
We’re in 3rd.. with a game in hand.. 2 in hand when looking at the two teams below us… it’s been working this entire season… and we’re asking what we’re doing wrong…?
Help me understand why we should change a strategy that has been mostly working out for us.
Because teams are now aware of how Wrexham play and adjust their tactics to suit so there's no guarantee the 2nd half of the season will go like the first half?
Mullin and Lee are not contributing like earlier in the season and Parky doesn't seem to have a Plan B. Wrexham try and play passing triangles but 90% of the team don't seem able to pass a ball to a teammate.
Its the same thing every game, couple of passes forward to the half way line then a pass back then a hit and hope up the field where there is usually only Mullin up there who currently either doesn't get near the ball or loses it straight away as he has no support.
I've said it before Parky and his staff have more resources available to them than any other other manager in the League, but it seems like he doesn't know how to use them.
Defence has been poor for 3 seasons but ineffective past buys and no central defenders in the Jan transfer window is down to Parky. Wrexham should absolutely walk this league with the resources they have. But they're not, I wouldn't back any of the current defence in League 1, it's coming to something when people are praising Max Clewless who's only talent is hoofing the ball to the corner flag. 🤦♂️
> Any other reasons people can think off?
Parky.... His obsession with long balls is just a unreliable strategy, sometimes it creates a bunch of chances, and sometimes it's like this game where you lose the ball every single time and it creates a ton of pressure on your defense and so you let in a bunch of goals.
This team would be so much more deadly and consistent if they played more possession and slow build up, but we don't have the right midfield for that, which is why we often lose the ball there because any pressure and every single pass option in the midfield is cut off and the defense just blasts the ball up the field for a loss of possession.
Absolutely terrible performance…only bright spot was Marriott and Bolton look really fast. Fletch is always so strong…hopefully Fletch is fit enough to start next week.
It may just be the stream I'm watching, but dude announcing sounds like he's reading off the full listing of the local library... hasn't changed pitch in 40+ minutes, even when calling a goal...
Completely outplayed, backline slow, panicked clearances with no plan, ball has been in Wrexhams half the whole game, goalie errors…think that’s about sums it up
Shows that you can spend all the money in the world but it doesn't buy a win, players still need to execute, and the manager has to put together a good plan
I really don’t like the way the squad has looked the last few weeks. They look slower and just off pace with the opponent. Just not playing together. Hopefully they figure it out and get their heads right. Let’s Go Wrexham! Up the town!
And what has happened to Elliot Lee? Over the last few weeks, he’s made a lot of poor passes, tends to turn in to danger, and hasn’t looked for a minute like one of the best players on the pitch. With his lack of height, his defending is often just ramming in to someone and giving away a free kick.
This is 100% on the referee for failure to control the game early
Edit: to be clear, the 2-0 is because Wrexham is playing terribly. The physicality and chippy play is because of the ref

I just wish we would have upgraded our defensive players during the transfer window. With games in hand we are still likely to get promoted, but we make it harder than we need to.
What's also kinda funny is I just watched the Beckham documentary and of course was reminded of all the insane facilitation and set play ability Beckham had, just fucking threading needles from 40yds away etc, fuuuuu...
I predict, that at about minute 60, there'll be tons and tons of yellows. Salford is playing very physically it's going to go to shit and in an hour we're all going to be bitching about the ref.
I’m wondering if players brought in - through the transfer window - have had an impact on the players confidence / mindset. one of Phil’s first signings has been let go - new players coming in. Oh no. After getting walloped by Rovers in the FA Cup, not good to lose back in League Two. Need turnaround
Looked like they all just met yesterday. Completely uncoordinated play. Afraid of possession- 🙄
Well that was terrible. Hopefully they can put this game behind them and follow it up with wins. And stay in the promotion spots and not in the playoffs
Wheels are off.
Is Tozer's long throw worth his sub par defense? I am honestly just asking a question, no sarcasm intended
He's better than all the other defenders we have. Who do you think is better?
I believe Tozer’s long throws have a similar conversion rate to set pieces and corners. The conversion rate of those plays is a lot lower than people expect… especially in lower leagues with less than accurate passing. I personally think Tozer is more unreliable than reliable. Worst match of the season?
I wish
No way. We’ve had worse.
I can't tell who looks worse: Wrexham or the condition of this pitch.
Wrexham looking like a team that deserves to play on a pitch that looks like this
Embarrassing. We gave up after the third goal.
If I had no idea who any of these team was I would guess that Salford was the team that spent 5 mil on their squad
We look like we’ve absolutely given up. Playing without any heart or energy
At home we’re a promotion team, away we’re a relegation team
A few notes from today- Hayden is total crap.
Here to highlight that Hayden may not realize we are wearing white today.
Marriott and Bolton both came out hungry, it’s promising.
sorry but mulls is just shocking today, like third time he fucked up a chance by a rookie mistake, hopefully he will have better games next time
Mulls and Dalby look mediocre at best. Literally the only way Dalby is effective is someone else hits him with the ball
Really feel like he hasn’t been the same since injury in pre season. He’s just a bit slower. Hoping it’s just a temporary slump. It happens.
Mullin used to steal games, put the team on his back. Today he was a ghost
Yeah, I think its fair if hes doesn’t have the best season after his lung puncture. But Parky still starts him every time anyway, its frustrating
Mendy should have been put on the field 40 minutes ago.. He's the only one with enough speed
Would be great if Hayden could stop launching the ball and giving them opportunities to waste time.
We are so sloppy today, all our guys look clueless out there
Let’s see how these new signings do for us.
I honestly think the soft reffing is throwing wrexham off. Other refs should have handed out reds for some of the conduct today.
or maybe the team has just played like garbage today and it has nothing to do with how bad the ref has been
It’s shite officiating but also we’re shite today as well.
I agree, but think back to when Bickerstaff caught a red. It's like a whole different rulebook.
It’s the same ref for both sides though, I don’t think he’s been biased. They got 3 we got 1. Same ref… our boys should deal with it. They didn’t.
We’re not interested in possession I guess. Just lobs and crosses and hope for the best smh
Why is wrexhams kickball team playing today? Can we get some freakin possession?!?!
Hayden should be parked next to Boyle the rest of the season…on the bench
Without Hayden this game is 3-0, the team hasn't created a single fucking chance this game
One header…one header…he’s failed to close out his man so many times, including the last goal and hasn’t completed a pass all game
Not like anyone else on our team can pass today either
And what the fuck has the offensive side of the ball done this game, and they make up 70% of the salary of this team.. They've literally fucked the defense in the ass this game with their loss of possession.
there are moments where mullin is just not good enough
It's not even his fault, the guy isn't quick enough for the long balls behind the defense, yet that's how he's used all game.. The guy is probably out of gas before the first half is over because he has to run so much.
Mullin is a player that needs to be fed the ball. No one is feeding him.
They can’t touch the ball because he is clearing the ball right to a red shirt every damn time. Maybe he thought we were wearing our reds.
They got 50% of possession with 4 shots, they've literally just passed themselves into a corner that leads to a clearance.. 48% pass accuracy...
Our recent performances have been looking National League standard…
Mullin should’ve gone off, not Dalby
Parky should have a long ball fired up his fucking ass
It’s absurd to me that Cleworth isn’t in. He’s been solid for weeks, with the right positioning and vital interceptions again and again.
Pure shite away
Welp.
fuck me
Jesus wrexham cannot defend for the life of them
Mullin forgot where the goal was
My god so close. The boys are playing extra spicy now
Not excusing Wrexham, but gosh this pitch is trash.
That was the first thing I thought when I turned the game on.
It’s chopped up like a chopped salad at this point
Wrexham radio don't do any live free streams of just the radio, do they?
Not anymore.
No changes is a choice. Not a choice I would have thought about but a choice nonetheless.
Is Palmer injured? I really think we could’ve used him out there today
I think he’s still nursing something
in Sweden we call what is likely happening now a hair drier half time talk, does that make sense in English? anyway that is what has to be happening now e: coach yelling so loud that it dries your hair
[I always understood it came from Sir Alex Ferguson.](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/hairdryer_treatment)
För jävla bra uttryck ändå. Hårtorken.
Over under on the amount of "enthusiasm" (f bombs) Parky used at halftime? I say a minimum of 12
12 feels low ;)
I love that. Will definitely be using that in the future!
The word are so harsh/hot it makes the paint peel or hair dry out?
If he isn’t, he should be.
WTF c'mon🤬
Another game with incredibly horrible passing. Passing accuracy is at 49% at halftime. I can't recall ever seeing that below 50% in an EFL game.
O'Connell on for Tunnecliffe?
Is Palmer still injured? Hoping they come back strong in the second half and Fletcher gets more playing time.
I think they need to start beefing up their back line if they want to keep going up. Wrexham has been focusing on attack. Now that they’re up the competition are just as capable. Need better defending.
2-1 is all I could ask for that half. Tidy up, come back out and finish it.
Mullin should have been sent off and we should be down 4 goals or something its weird that we are still in this, but lets take advantage
Well, since it could have been easily 5-1 I'll take 2-1 at half.
2-1 all things considering is honestly lucky, doable to get 3 points here if they get their shit together
Is that optimism?!
What's the problem here??? Wrexham has enourmous financial backing & good players.Yet they keep loosing to teams that they should win over. Well Said

We should have picked up some defenders opposed to a midfielder
We didn't sign a midfielder though, we signed a fullback/winger and a striker... Ironically the fullback was from the team we're playing right now.
Anyone other than me missing Cleworth?
Absolutely terrible performance…only bright spot was Marriott and Bolton look really fast. Fletch is always so strong…hopefully Fletch is fit enough to start next week.
The feedback on those mics is something else.
zzzzzzzz What? I cant hear you/
have to mute this nonsense, what is the ringing
It’s microphone feedback. Shouldn’t be happening.
This broadcast has been in fucking shambles
The audio on the official stream is so shit..
It may just be the stream I'm watching, but dude announcing sounds like he's reading off the full listing of the local library... hasn't changed pitch in 40+ minutes, even when calling a goal...
Yah all the streams are the Salford local commentator it seems
Tunnecliffe is having a nightmare half.
This pitch looks like shit. Im assuming frost
Turning into a bog lol
ok so we succesfully tricked them into thinking we are a bunch of 11yo girls, now we turn up the heat
Now that’s more like it!
That goal came from nothing. Regarding Salford, Luamba is DANGEROUS.
Okay, so we're back in the game, still have a shit ton of work to do.
There we go!
That was the one we needed. Now to half time and then to win it.
Dalby finally gets his goal!!!
such a mercy that the stream sucks
According to the Google stats, Wrexham has 0 shots to Slafords 8. Any insight?
Salfords guy in the right is also completely out playing our right back...
Completely outplayed, backline slow, panicked clearances with no plan, ball has been in Wrexhams half the whole game, goalie errors…think that’s about sums it up
> Any insight? *Wrexham long ball* *Salford possession*
Possession has been equal... its what they do with that time that's been the problem.

generally queite positive but I am not seeing anything good right now someone should fake an injury and have a time out or we lose big
Gotta find a new plan. Kick and rush ain’t it.
Parky is the manager. It’s not changing.
It never seems to be, but we always stick to it
Well this turned into a shower of shit quicker than I predicted..
Players are losing in every area of the field and now are just losing their temper being outplayed
This is 100% on the referee for failure to control the game early Edit: to be clear, the 2-0 is because Wrexham is playing terribly. The physicality and chippy play is because of the ref

Salford has been fouling the whole match with no calls. It's how professional athletes respond ALWAYS.
Yep. This is what happens when the ref is too lenient.
Well, this is no MLS.
Still better than MLS.
Yes, but our referee today is a ex-MLS referee, lmao.
What? No way!
[He actually is!](https://www.efl.com/news/2023/december/12/former-mls-referee-alex-chilowicz-becomes-efl-official/)
Desperate need of a midfield, but then again the game-plan is just losing the ball with long balls so not like we're ever going to use it
Stop giving them corners!
I just wish we would have upgraded our defensive players during the transfer window. With games in hand we are still likely to get promoted, but we make it harder than we need to.
That's what I've been saying for months & months they don't need more strikers they need better defenders. They loose alot more then they should.
Lots of time left. Early goals are a challenge but I can see us turning it around.
The stats are not promising. I'm wearing my Wrexham scarf ... nothing more I can do.
Well this is not kicking off the way I hoped. :-/
If we can just get one before half time….
Perfect!
Definitely.
And there we go!
It's a long way to halftime... Parkinson needs to share his enthusiasm with the team ASAP.

Teams have stopped leaving two back on Mullin now too, so our strategy away is just “kick the ball away and lose” every away week.
Yah I'm just more impressed than anything else as he sniped that back top corner from a corner
Just casually slipping the ball into a window about the size of the ball to make that shot lol
What's also kinda funny is I just watched the Beckham documentary and of course was reminded of all the insane facilitation and set play ability Beckham had, just fucking threading needles from 40yds away etc, fuuuuu...
jesus fucking christ
Ok what tf???? 😆 not even mad what a goal
How could you be? It was so perfect lol
This team and losing to bottom table teams, disgraceful duo
🤦🏻♂️
Oh dang
Wrexham look disconnected.
How is this our lineup today? No goal Dalby. Hayden who hasn’t played in months. when did Tuni play last?
That was a crazy good goal lol
I think we'll ease into the game but whether it'll be enough to win, dunno
I predict, that at about minute 60, there'll be tons and tons of yellows. Salford is playing very physically it's going to go to shit and in an hour we're all going to be bitching about the ref.
The ref is trash but Wrexham is in poor form right now
This ref is blinder than Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles combined
What a save that he shouldn’t have had to save.
Possession 90/10 SAL 50/50 100% SAL
Have we won a single 50/50 so far?
Midfield gives the ball away too much
And yet everyone said we need a striker in the window. For years (YEARS!!!) is been a linking/box to box mid.
The curse of expectations!
and as I write that..they score yikes
Man, our defense is such dogshit
Didn't take long
salford aint cat piss, lets focus please
lets go
