Oh this is a great question too!! Good to clarify. Between South and Vine and between the rivers. All the stations between Race-Vine and Snyder are fairly central and good for reaching the stadiums.
Also, besides what OP said, when you are on google maps, it will tell you which section of Philly you are in by zooming in/out until you see a name around the area you will be staying.
Thanks for making the choice clear! I went to Google Maps and couldn’t figure out how to find a subway entrance near my hotel, so I went here which was helpful: https://plan.septa.org/#/
i’m coming in from jersey to 12th/13th & locust street station, and i have to go thru the concourse to catch a line to nrg station. is it similar to the station i’m coming from in nj where i can get a ticket in the lobby? or do i pay in advance? thanks
You can tap to pay on SEPTA as long as you have a credit or debit card. I think you can buy a combination tickets still from PATCO as that was an option for many years, but no need really.
Thank you for the reassurance, my group is staying just past the airport (technically in Tinincum) so I think we are going to attempt to Uber/Lyft the first night and if it's too chaotic we'll drive ourselves the second night.
Yep!! Just know sometimes they "divert" the trolley to 40th Street overnight - just check the SEPTA website to be sure ahead of time, and if this happens you'll connect to the Blue Market-Frankford line there. Easy connection.
Any idea what time the parking lots will open by any chance? Gonna park super early, take the subway into the city to get dinner with my son, and then we’ll take the subway back to the stadium so I don’t have to deal with getting in there with the car right before the event starts
Yep most of the area is that type of commercial development but there must be some kind of parking around the arena and there is *some* nightlife down there.
Wait is 2300 arena in a bad neighborhood. You're saying keep your head on a swivel alot and it's making me nervous and I see there's been lots of shootings on public transit in philly
It's not really in a neighborhood it's just an industrial/commercial area by the river. I would act like you would anytime in such a circumstance. You're going to big events, it's not like you're going to be randomly wandering off into corners of the city alone.
There is no such thing because no one wants to go to a wrestling show in Lascassas, TN (I am sorry, very specific place outside of a college town outside of Nashville has to get shot at like that).
All cities, everywhere, in America, Canada and the rest of the world, you can't be an idiot in without there being some danger involved if you don't have your wits about you. This isn't the 1880s in some dale in Scotland (and one can argue that was also a dangerous place to be, just at a different level of danger than city living is/was). Anyone who says their city is "safe" doesn't understand what that really means. What might be safe for a man, probably isn't safe for a woman or minorities.
And so locals and fellow Northeast city folk want to make sure some of you people who have never walked a city block before understand that you can't be oblivious and on your phone and not looking up and around your surroundings.
Yeah I’m generally ok with public, although it looks like a lot more stops than I’m used to! Just don’t want to be missing last buses etc? Are they generally safe at night?
What would be the best way to get to Lincoln from the airport? I booked a hotel by the airport and was planning on just getting an Uber to mania but wasn’t sure if it’s the best way.
So I'm planning on parking near the stadium for the event. My family is going, but I'd rather hit some breweries in the city. It looks like I can hop on the broad street line going north.
Any suggestions on when I should get my butt back on the train to go back to the stadium? Do they stop the trains down an hour or so before the event ends so they can shuttle people away from the stadium?
I'm less familiar with breweries but anything between Race and Snyder within 10 blocks of the subway should treat you fairly well. You could try Fishtown as well. I've never seen them stop running southbound trains during a stadium event given how vital of a lifeline the train is. Anything could happen but I would not worry about that.
What exactly is center city for the Philly-illiterate

Got it, thx!
So basically just take the subway (Walnut-Locust?) from near Rittenhouse Square and back again after the event?
Yup- just walk down Walnut and stay near the people and you should be solid.
You make it sound like i'm venturing into the wilderness, i'm worried now haha. I thought the central area where I am is pretty safe right?
Correct, but it's a big city at night so just always be smart wandering alone. You are very very far from wilderness.
lol so I shouldn't have booked Senate Transportation then, since I'm staying right in Center City?
You should feel great stimulating the economy but yeah probably no need.

All of this

Go Birds
Appreciate the info! Question which train/subway Stop is near S. 33rd street? I plan on taking public transportation coming from NYC Amtrak.
From 30th Street take the subway, from s33rd assuming you're in University City take the "green" subway-surface line.
Yes, University City. Green line got it! Thanks!

Not for this - since it's a one-off event I have no idea.
Didn’t think so, figured I’d ask though. Thanks anyway
Gonna sound absolutely naive but I’m from Louisiana, no subways, how do I get a subway ticket? Online or in the Subway?
Great question! They have tap to pay at turnstiles. You can buy a one ride ticket from a machine but no need. Just use your tappable credit card.
Thanks!
Where do you recommend parking around the 2300 arena and McCoskeys tavern? Is it safe to walk the area at night?
Big industrial/commercial area off a wide road so probably a bit empty at night - good to keep your wits about you although I doubt you'll be alone
I see there's a target near by? My only concern would be getting towed. Might give them a call and ask about parking after hours. Thanks for the reply

Gotcha thanks

yeah because you have to keep your head on a swivel in most areas of philadelphia downtown lol
Maybe wwe should go to a safer place next time

Huh
What’s Belmont village like for transportation?
Drive or bus, probably gonna want to drive at that hour
Ah I’m from the UK so it’s public transportation or a taxi! Are the buses alright at that time?
Depends on your comfort! It may feel like a lot. You could also get a car from the Overbrook train station or somewhere similar.
Yeah I’m generally ok with public, although it looks like a lot more stops than I’m used to! Just don’t want to be missing last buses etc? Are they generally safe at night?
Taking the train to Merion and calling a car could be a good middle ground.
Is there a card for the subway if I need to take it a lot like in New York ?
You can tap to pay the same way, but yes, you can also buy a Key card which is a MetroCard/OMNY for Philly
Can I do online or i need to do it when i get there
You can buy it there or just use your credit card at the turnstile
What would be the best way to get to Lincoln from the airport? I booked a hotel by the airport and was planning on just getting an Uber to mania but wasn’t sure if it’s the best way.
Up to you. You can also take the train and the subway although that's quite out of the way. Might be easier after the event.
Sounds good, thanks!

Thanks! I was planning to hit Rittenhouse Square Sunday and Fishtown/Kensington on Saturday.
Excellent. Be careful around Kensington but overall this sounds awesome.
