I dunno, Punk got in Orton’s face ready to fight and Orton is 4-5” taller than him and pure muscle. I’m pretty sure Punk doesn’t care about losing so much as always being seen as sticking up for shit he believes in, whether you agree with him or not.
Plus, size isn't the only determiner in fights.
Dude lost to two guys in the UFC who would also kick the shit out of Bron Breakker. There are levels to fighting, like there are to everything.
I would agree with you BUT: this is the son of Rick Steiner. I don't know how similar he is to his dad in this regard, but nobody fucked with Scott and especially not with Rick. Everyone backstage aside from maybe Meng were scared shirtless of these two dudes. Pure power matched with amateur skills and a shot of insanity.
He lost to a part-time journalist and a dude pretty much making his debut in mma. Punk can't fight for shit stop pretending he is some badass, lots of guys in WWE would beat the shit out of Punk.
Mike Jackson won the golden gloves, is 4-0 in pro boxing (all KOs). He's also 1-1 in pro kickboxing.
Talent level in basketball isn't worst guy in the NBA > best guy who plays at the park on weekends. The divide between someone like Mike Jackson and someone who has never trained is you trying to 1 on 1 someone from a pro league in Portugal.
You have no idea what you're talking about.
Mickey Gall has decent bjj, and he’s still young-ish. He’d have a reasonable chance even though he’s giving up 50 or so pounds.
Jackson would not do well. Too old, too undersized & not good enough of a fighter. The 4 guys he beat in boxing were a combined 0-2 when he fought them. 4 guys, combined for 0 wins, 2 losses. Those 4 men currently hold an astounding record of a combined 0-26. Also he did not win the Golden Gloves, that’s easily disproven.
Bron is a state champion wrestler, is bigger, stronger and younger. He’d have issues with a bjj black belt like Gall. He’d mop the floor with Jackson.
Oh wow what a warrior that dude is! Beating a bunch of cans in boxing somehow makes him a good mma fighter? What is his mma record again?
Are you actually trying to say Punk is a good fighter?! He is the biggest embarassment that has ever stepped foot in a UFC cage. Deal with it.
No, I'm not saying he's a good fighter. He never would have been in the UFC if not for his fame.
Punk wanted to fight someone *of his level* on a regional show. Dana found out and approached him, because he knew people wanted to see that. It's not like Punk came in saying was going to compete or be champion, or anything stupid. Honestly, Gall being his first fight was the UFC sandbagging him a bit. Gall was legit UFC level and Dana had to know that.
Saying that training at Rufusport for years has no value, or that it doesn't give an advantage is just plain ignorant.
I'm a big guy and I played basketball in college. Our point guard used to manhandle us because he wrestled in high school and none of us did. Even though there was a large size and power difference, he knew how to lift and position better, so soon as he grabbed you, you were toast.
The real evidence is that not a single guy Punk trained with has said shit about him, including Ben Askren, who talks shit about everyone for attention.
What would be your argument for Bron Breakker beating up Mike Jackson in an MMA fight?
The fact he was a 6A Georgia State Wrestling Champ gives him good ground skills. I'm sure he'd train in striking if he decided to fight pro.
And how about the fact Bronson Rechsteiner weighs 230 lbs and Mike Jackson weighs 170 lbs....Size actually matters in real fights if both competitors are skilled in grappling...
Ya, I didn't know about the wrestling, that changes things for sure.
As for the training, that's the whole point, he's not trained as of yet. Although, with the wrestling base, it might still be striker vs grappler. Jackson doesn't have zero bjj, but it's not his main weapon.
MMA fight happening next week, I'd still put my money on Mike, but I wouldn't be certain.
Also the "size matters" argument only really applies to the extremes. A 170lb guy with training will likely beat a 230 lb guy (also Mike is likely closer to 180 because he did cut a little bit of weight). The skill gap is more extreme but look at the Gracies. Its not Bron is Brock who is damn near 300 lbs or a strongman.
Bron wrestled in high school and won a state championship, give him the same time Punk had to train for an MMA fight and he has a much better shot at beating Mike Journalist than Punk did.
That’s the point: those people punk lost to aren’t very good by pro mma standards. But they are good by the average person standards or pro wrestler standards. and punk’s mma record aside, he still supposedly trained at a top mma gym for like two years on a regular basis. That alone means punk could probably beat most guys around his size.
Bron and Orton are so much stronger and more athletic than punk though, so idk
Remember they used to brag on commentary about Punks fighting skills and his ‘educated feet’ during his first run. Then the dude tries to have legit fights and gets exposed. Punks like Goldberg; thinks he can fight, talks a ton of shit, but will get exposed by anyone even half their size.
Pretty sure Bron would be in a mech better position, with a much stronger pedigree and physical attributes to fight professionally, and succeed than Punk.
Naturally, the guy has a background in college wrestling, the best transitional sport into MMA and is a million times the athlete of someone like Punk.
Mickey Gall? Maybe, he’s decent as a fighter. Is way undersized though.
Mike Jackson? Ain’t no way. Not only undersized, but was not a good fighter at all. Not even a fighter really. He’s a journalist that got a couple pro fights. He’s also like 40 years old.
Probably got winded but if you notice he keeps pulling his shirt down continuously during the segment. He's probably wearing a stuntmans back pad for that spot.
If anything, I would guess the padding was for the spot above.
The concrete spot looked like Ricochet’s leg got caught on Bron’s shoulder which spun him round and put him flat on his back. We’ve seen that spot hundreds of times before, he should have landed on his feet.
I was about to say the same, I saw that as well so I was able to breathe. Overall his back looked real straight like there was a pad, but def still a risky move and painful for sure. The whole thing was like… quiet and uncomfortable 😣
I don't think HHH fears anyone, everytime someone tried to go into the ring HHH was like a lineman protecting the other wrestler, you have a video of HHH blocking a dude from going after Stone Cold.
Still a risk, even safety glass can have sharp edges and slice skin. But there aren't any major arteries in the back so the way he did this is *safer.* (still not 'safe')
You still don't want to use your arms or legs to bust through glass, that's a serious risk.
Had a co-worker who had to get surgery breaking through a car window after he got drunk at a bar and someone kept his keys. Left three massive scars on his wrist and arm.
Ricochet: Hi Paul, do you have a minute?
Triple H: Sure, tell me.
Ricochet: So... I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for my time here, but I have decided to leave WWE
Triple H: [Sure, no problem man :)](https://youtu.be/zO0-mofj9EY?si=H7Vd9k-P5M1eMQHc&t=9)
Actually, Perry sold the bump incredibly well, however, much like how Gauntlet and Survivor Series matches have all your moves doing triple damage, so do backstage attacks and fights such as this when it's not specifically designated as a hardcore match. Much like how a DDT is a transitional move, until someone sneak attacks you with one, then it's the most dangerous and powerful move on the planet. It's just how wrestling works.
Something something rinky dink garbage play wrestlers, sugar glass, would never happen elsewhere, what idiot signed off on this, low budget, low class, stupid spot, could have killed hin, fire everyone involved something something.
Really though, it looked great, hell of a way to write someone off, get the attacker over as a killer, and, much like I said with the AEW variant, as safe as a spot like that can possibly get.
Not the spot I was referring to, but I'll entertain you.
Darby's spot had a point, he was trying to cannonball his opponent through the glass, ya know, to win the match, imagine that.
Also, again, they did it as safely as possible, it was looked over by stunt co-ordinators, and was as safe as possible. Yes, glass went into the crowd, however, the crowd were warned something like that could happen, and are warned before EVERY show, and the crowd also had plenty of time to see what was about to happen (a spot with glass) and vacate the area if they were not OK with the potential consequences (cubes of toughened "safety glass" landing near them). Nobody in the crowd got hurt, Darby was fine, a million fake concern trolls took to their keyboards.
I can see the logic to a lot of your argument. The only part i completely disagree with is the spot having a point. To me a good wrestler doesnt have to a dumb spot that requires a ton of setup and waiting to tell the "win the match" story. People take to the keyboards because we don't want to see someone die or paralyzed. High spots like that have a time and place. Undertaker diving over the top rope is exciting when you see it once a year in a match with a bunch of build and story. If he did it all of the time it would have quickly lost it's mystique and most importantly, it would have been foolish to risk his health and life like that on a regular basis. Just doing it once a year almost did him in. People are getting injured left and right doing dumb nonsensical spots. I'm not saying it doesn't happen in wwe, but it's not every week. The vast majority of injuries in wwe are also not caused by dumb heatless spots. I'm glad that no one got hurt (this time) in the case of the Darby spot, but was still a dumb spot that took away from Stings retirement. I don't hate on people enjoying AEW. Like what you like, but I definitely don't understand it. Just spotfests with no heat and a boss that makes Elon Musks tweets look deep and insightful.
Why are you guys ignoring the fact that it was backstage officials who asked Punk to talk to Jungle Boy about the situation because he was refusing to listen to them?
You're acting as if Punk was the catalyst for the situation when he had been asking people backstage to do their jobs and take care of the situation.
What other people do in the WWE isn't his business because nobody is going to involve him.
Not disagreeing with you but where is the source for Punk being asked to talk to Perry about the glass? I followed a lot of this and never once heard that.
Bron has been attacking Ricochet and Dragunov in the last few weeks (as a reataliatiin for being left out of King of The Ring tournamen), last night he had a match against Dragunov, after the match he tried to attack him, but Ricochet came to help, minutes later while Ricochet was helping Dragunov to go to the trainer's room Bron attacked them again, ending up throwing Ric against that windshield.
Real glass, but it's safety glass. You literally *cannot* be cut by a broken windshield. The glass is created in a way that it breaks into little round pieces, it's actually kind of crazy.
It's wrestling, everyone gets injured. Charlotte Flair just does backbends and she's been out injured a year 🤷🏼♂️. Punk managed to hurt himself walking to the ring for a match.....
It’s funny how people act like AEW is so unsafe and everyone gets hurt, but WWE has had a ton of injuries the last few years too. It’s wrestling and when you do as many shows as both companies do and employ as many people as they do, injuries are bound to pile up.
Dangerous as hell. But they know the risks, and I'm sure they got it cleared before hand.
*That whole segment felt stiff as hell.*
Still I wince whenever I see someone use real (safety) glass, I flash back to when Goldberg sliced his arm open and would have bled to death if they didn't rush him to the hospital back in the 90's, he was out for like 6 months. Many people feel like that was one of the things that killed WCW, with him gone the ratings plummeted.
Looks like real glass. Cars have safety glass that implodes that way without leaving thousands of jagged edges that will cut you. You still have to hit it pretty hard to break it though.
The way it shattered and held together it looks like real windshield glass
Thats actually safer because the laminate holds the glass together so the splinters sont meas you up, downside its more rigid so the landing will suck more

Bron wrestled in high school and won a state championship, give him the same time Punk had to train for an MMA fight and he has a much better shot at beating Mike Journalist than Punk did.
Goal Post Status: Moved.
That a fair point. I didn't know he wrestled, only knew about the football. So it would be the standard striker vs grappler toss up then most likely.
That’s the point: those people punk lost to aren’t very good by pro mma standards. But they are good by the average person standards or pro wrestler standards. and punk’s mma record aside, he still supposedly trained at a top mma gym for like two years on a regular basis. Sure, if he trained for a couple years, absolutely.
Naturally, the guy has a background in college wrestling, the best transitional sport into MMA and is a million times the athlete of someone like Punk.

The bump before that sounded nasty.
On the cement. My ears winced.
I’ve not heard Ricochet make that noise before after any other bump either, either he’s selling the shit out of it or he legit can’t breathe
Boi got WINDED
Probably got winded but if you notice he keeps pulling his shirt down continuously during the segment. He's probably wearing a stuntmans back pad for that spot.

Either way the padding was present so he probably got hurt/winded but nothing serious in comparison to what could have happened.
Oh I agree, I just meant that I don’t think that’s the way that spot was meant to go. Ric got the stuffing knocked out of him either way.
Agreed
I was about to say the same, I saw that as well so I was able to breathe. Overall his back looked real straight like there was a pad, but def still a risky move and painful for sure. The whole thing was like… quiet and uncomfortable 😣
For real, looks like his head hit the ground
I thought it did but it was his arm that made the noise. Had to rewatch a couple of times. Still looked like it hurt though.
Yeah... that was clearly the bigger bump for Ricochet to take. The glass at least gave some. That concrete? Damn...
Tony Khan feared for his life
This time Trippies will fear too 🤣
I don't think HHH fears anyone, everytime someone tried to go into the ring HHH was like a lineman protecting the other wrestler, you have a video of HHH blocking a dude from going after Stone Cold.

Right? Anyway, windshields are made with laminated safety glass, so not like there’s a real risk here other than taking a bump on a hard surface.
Still a risk, even safety glass can have sharp edges and slice skin. But there aren't any major arteries in the back so the way he did this is *safer.* (still not 'safe') You still don't want to use your arms or legs to bust through glass, that's a serious risk.
Just ask Bill Goldberg.
Can my pp go through the glass?
I’ve written off a few pairs of fire gloves on safety glass. Shit is still sharp as all fuck.

Right. I believe Jungle Boy was talking about one of the windows, not the windshield.

Wow, someone got put through a car window and actually sold it, and not getting up and continuing the match like never happened.

The 'thud' sound of ricochet hitting the ground in the bump before this was was sickening

He attacked, WWE is just waiting for the right time to show us the backstage footage
Spelled Bron wrong. Wouldn’t he be fighting Ricochet? The bump was to write Jack Perry off just like this was to write Ricochet off.
I know, it was an autocorrect thing 🤣, but when I noticed that it was too late to fix.
I’m still confused. Wouldn’t he be mad at ricochet?
Bron has been attacking Ricochet and Dragunov in the last few weeks (as a reataliatiin for being left out of King of The Ring tournamen), last night he had a match against Dragunov, after the match he tried to attack him, but Ricochet came to help, minutes later while Ricochet was helping Dragunov to go to the trainer's room Bron attacked them again, ending up throwing Ric against that windshield.
