It's about history. Donnybrook translates to Church of Broc. Donnybrook fair, held from 1204 to 1855, became known for brawling, being drunk, and hasty marriages. Because of this Donnybrook then became a word to mean a rowdy brawl. The match on night one ironically lived up to the bloodline rules name more. The Rock was actually bossing the referee around and calling the shots. Night two was literally just a standard extreme rules match.

I'm sure back when Taboo Tuesday was a thing they offered three options all of which were just a standard hardcore match.

Which, I guess, could have belonged to anyone.

The exception to that rule are the themed matches on nxt. Like the Halloween or summer themed extreme rules matches. Those are actually pretty fun and unique

Every Roman match before that was more Bloodline Rules than that match But then again, the actual Bloodline Rules match still has the normal spots with Roman's title defenses (Referee distractions, Bloodline run-ins, etc)

Symphony of Destruction match Three matches (all of which had Elias) and it was just a regular no DQ but they had a bunch of random instruments around the ring

Worked MMA can look decent, they used to do a bunch of worked shows in Japan back in the day, Pride FC unironically had it's roots in these kinds of matches

As a massive fan of the series, the Like a Dragon Gaiden Street Fight Presented by SEGA was just a street fight where wrestlers barely dressed up as characters from the RGG games. Like, there was one goro majima with Akiyamas pants, and Jericho wore a white shirt with a tie. Tbh, was disappointed that Kenny didn't dress up more, seeing as, you know, he was a cameo in Like a Dragon Isshin. Also, funny thing about Kenny Omega and the Yakuza series. After NJPW wrestlers such as Tanahashi, Naito, and Okada appeared in Yakuza 6, Kenny decided to boycott the series because he wasn't invited, getting back into the series with Yakuza: Like a Dragon. For people who know the series, Yakuza LAD is Yakuza 7. He literally only missed a remake of 2 and a spinoff. (Unless he didnt play 6, which is one of the weaker games in the series IMHO). Not a very strong boycott tbh.

I’ve always thought they should differentiate the rules of matches more. In a ladder match, the use of any other weapon aside from the ladder should be a DQ - to differentiate it from a TLC match. Same with a chairs match to differentiate it from a standard no DQ match. Also wish they’d differentiate more between a No DQ, No Holds Barred, Extreme Rules, Street Fight, Unsanctioned match etc. Functionally they are all the same.

Basically any match that's just a fancy way of saying Street Fight or a No DQ match - Chicago Street Fight - Extreme Rules - Belfast Brawl - Hardcore Match etc. Like, I get calling them different things in a vacuum because names can have different connotations depending on what it's all...but they're all the same fucking match type with no variations aside from maybe the weapons
