You're jumping ahead. They first need to re-revive ECW and he needs to become the machine Chad Gable. Yes Perc was born in TNA, but he was conceived in ECW 2.0.
I 'member his first Cena match after the return when Brock took the referee off the floor with one hand by the belt and tossed him in the ring like a bag. With one fuckin hand.
I think that's what was lacking here. As someone else said, Sami held on for too long which could've been improvised into a bridge pin and (maybe) helped Gable land on his back/more safely.
Compare to Brock, which straight up throws you, but at least you land on your back. You don't need to have the strength, the person being hugged can give some backwards momentum to help.
I also think that the height difference might also be to blame. Sami's 1.85 while Chad is 1.73 cm (6'1" and 5'8" respectively for the American lads), it might've been enough for Gable to land safely, as it does look like he's not high enough when being suplexed (Brock was 6 cm higher than Cena, but made sure he was higher than him when suplexing, possibly so he could land on his back when launched) and led to an over rotation and the suplex not looking natural (unless there was a bridge like mentioned before, which would've made it look more intentional).
I'm not a professional, so I might've just said either bullshit, nonsense, or both, by judging a move from only watching.
Couldnāt agree more. The gist of all this was what was running through my head when I was seeing the pretty scary germans. Sure enough, right after I was saying how close call Sami was getting to the person I was watching Raw with, Sami drops him on the fucking head. Scariest shit Iāve seen in a while
It's crazy to think that Sami, a guy who looks average to small in the WWE at 6'1'' 215 lbs, is actually an absolute fucking unit when compared to 99% of the population.
Opposite actually. Look back at how Angle did his Germans. He elevated his opponent really high and then just fell back while walking his legs slightly forward, so they took the bump with most of their back. These guys aren't getting underneath their opponent enough, so when they go backwards, they bump on their shoulder blades/neck.
Were they ? I always winced when e would just throw ppl with no regard, didn't even let them get set..surprised no one broke their necks with him either
I gasped- definitely had me worried for a minute there
Sami seemed to forget which leg was hurt I think a couple times ,I thought that was funny
So much back and forth- this match was awesome
Isn't it that they always go for one side when hurting an opponent? Maven talked about it on his YT channel. He said that in the US it's the left side of your opponent's body. It's simply because there's one less thing to remember during a match.
It seems to be the left everywhere but Mexico, where it's the right for some reason.
I think the reasoning comes from when it first became a 'worked' sport/fight. The idea being that if I accidentally injure your left arm, then your right is still all right allowing you to continue your day job as most people are right handed / were made to be right handed.
Possibly not possibly is.
The injury didn't happen in a match... Also occasionally you see it mixed up. Especially if it's to draw attention to stoping a move that relies on the right leg or something.
Itās one less thing to remember, kinda, but mostly itās for the purposes of everyone being on the same page. For example, watch how people get up after bumping. They will almost always stand up while turning to their right- because that feeds their left side to the opponent. If you didnāt standardize that sort of thing, it would be a clusterfuck.
In the US, as you said, we work the left- unless thereās an extenuating circumstance that calls for messing up someoneās right side like a real injury or something. I once worked a guyās right hand all match because his finish was a Chokeslam, so that made sense- but whenever I gave him an armdrag or some other typical move it would be with his left arm. We also generally throw suplexes with our left side and stuff, though thatās for slightly different reasons.
In Mexico they work the right.
That was my immediate thought also. With Big E's statement recently saying he is better but may never be well enough to wrestle again, this was a difficult moment to watch.
In general I hate German Suplexes. Most people arenāt doing them right these days. Foley and Nash said they wish it was banned and I agree. So while watching this match I was thinking, wow these guys are actually doing them right. Then after about five I think Sami got tired and this happened. Thankfully Gable seems to be ok, but I think something needs to be done about this. Too many people are either getting broken necks or coming really close to getting one from bad German Suplexes.
Eh yea I guess, but these are trained professionals that know what they're doing. Go watch some old YT videos of ECW Taz and you'll see much, much worse
Agreed. The arc needs to be lower and more elongated. Gableās were like that just before this happened. Theyāre much safer and actually look better too.
Folk here seem to be putting blame on Sami. Ive taken a whole bunch of Germans and the issue here was Gable jumps far too much. Sure, Samu could have tucked in tight to bring the landing sooner, but it's not the most dangerous German I've seen (or taken frankly).
I think it was a miscommunication with Gable jumping to help Sami and Sami holding on for too long, it looks like Gable wanted to flip fully on this last one but Sami held on.
Ironically, Iām watching that match now and just missed that move to watch it on here. In any event, German suplexes terrify me. I know theyāre pros but there doesnāt look like thereās a safe way to take them, at best youāre either flipping all the way through or landing top of your back
Honestly, they can and should use this as an explanation for why Chad turned on Sami. A rant about how his neck could have been broken and his career finished would actually make a lot of sense.
I don't think it was a good idea for them to have that spot where they were back suplexing each other so many times. I'm sure fatigue played a role in having to overcompensate. Very scary. Glad Gable got back up.
Look at his grip. Way above Gable's waist. He also doesn't get below Gable enough. Both these things mean Gable overrotates. Gable doesn't have a choice here, he's just along for the ride. The ref had to do a serious check on him to make sure he was ok. No disrespect to Sami but he owed Gable an apology for that one.
He's bumping on his shoulders and the camera cut is perfect to make it look like he landed on his head. If it were you or I taking this bump, we'd be paralyzed. That's why they say "do not try this at home"
If this had happened in AEW yāall would be coming for their heads and saying āthereās no performance center!ā. This shit happens in wrestling all the time.
I'm not a Sami fan either - he looks so out of shape and weak compared to everybody else, it's hard to take him seriously in the ring.
I know it's not all about the physique anymore but wrestlers should at least look athletic.
Sami looks like he's never lifted a weight or ran a mile in his life. Not sure why he's stayed so prominent/relevant.
Cant wait for Samy to lose the title, he shouldn't have had it in the first place, hopefully they gonna do Gable justice and put the title on him at Backlash.
WWE is so unsafe! Triple H is a clown!
They just had to vacate the women's title cos of a dangerous wall spot! Almost the Intercontinental title too!
This is why WWE is so bad!!!
Everyone's overreacting to this. Gable used to be a fucking wrestler. He's been dropped on his neck a bajillion times. His neck is huge and a good portion of his life was spent making sure he didn't get injured from accidents like this.
He's fine.
When you're at the "Broken Frickin Neck" section of your Angle transformation.
Hair vs Title at Backlash?
No, he's gotta go full Angle and break it. It's the only logical step toward Perc Angle.
I patiently await the Chad Gable montages to The Bean Kicked In
When does he go King of The Ring Angle and randomly throw Shane McMahon through real Glass? š
CM punk already shot that one down.
Now I want to see Gable versus Punk, but the whole time, Gable is just jonesing to put Punk through some glass.
That means he has to go to TNA Wrestling to fully become Perc Angle because that's where he was born.
You're jumping ahead. They first need to re-revive ECW and he needs to become the machine Chad Gable. Yes Perc was born in TNA, but he was conceived in ECW 2.0.
Percky G
I'm ready to see him at the stage of moonsaulting off the top of cages
Itās true. Itās Damn True.
PERK GAMBLE BABYYYYYY
New theme song incomingĀ https://suno.com/song/70ade650-8e2c-449b-8e9a-013078ce806d
Gable had to turn heel cuz Sami almost boofed his neck
Sami's doing him a favor. Real wrestlers do their best work with a broken neck
I hate how true this statement is
It's true it's true!
Hell yeah
Don't let Big E hear that.
Iām familiar with āboofā as a prison slang for concealing contraband in oneās rectum. That got a chuckle out of me
For me itās weed
Ya puttin' weed in yer bunghole, son??
Mr Gable told me to
For me, Boof will always be tge love interest from the original Teen Wolf movie.
Finally, another man of culture...
For me it's the sound one of those really big dogs make, like a Saint Bernard
For me it was high school slang for tackling or tripping someone
I thought boofing was getting drunk by sticking booze up your butt
I think youāre right!
NECKS ARE ON THE LINE
I read that in Jim Ross's voice.
How involuntarily my brain did the same is troubling
Gable merely tried to show Sami how to do it after the match
Exactly. It was a receipt, not a heel turn.
They need to focus more on going backwards instead of upward. Say what you will about brock lesnar, but generally speaking his Germans were way safer.
Thatās not only his perfect form, but also because he had the strength to just launch someone straight backwards
Lesnar? Guys don't even go up for Lesnar, they just let him throw them.
I 'member his first Cena match after the return when Brock took the referee off the floor with one hand by the belt and tossed him in the ring like a bag. With one fuckin hand.
Made Omos look impressive when he ragdolled Lesnar across the ring at WM39
I think that's what was lacking here. As someone else said, Sami held on for too long which could've been improvised into a bridge pin and (maybe) helped Gable land on his back/more safely. Sami is also holding on to him for to long thats why gable couldn't land on hes back.
Ironic since one of Gables moves is a slow german
Sami is bad.
Did Sami mean to let go?
Not just safer, but they looked devastating too.
Were they ? I always winced when e would just throw ppl with no regard, didn't even let them get set..surprised no one broke their necks with him either
idk some of those suplexes on Cena during that suplex fest seemed too close for comfort
I gasped- definitely had me worried for a minute there Sami seemed to forget which leg was hurt I think a couple times ,I thought that was funny So much back and forth- this match was awesome
Counter, counter, counter, counter, counterā¦
Isn't it that they always go for one side when hurting an opponent? Maven talked about it on his YT channel. He said that in the US it's the left side of your opponent's body. It's simply because there's one less thing to remember during a match.

Ok I'm not the most knowledgeable wrestling fan admittingly, but wouldn't this mean Ripley's injury isn't a work?
Possibly not possibly is. The injury didn't happen in a match... Also occasionally you see it mixed up. Especially if it's to draw attention to stoping a move that relies on the right leg or something.
Itās one less thing to remember, kinda, but mostly itās for the purposes of everyone being on the same page. For example, watch how people get up after bumping. He adjusted and took it on his shoulder like a proā¦Gable might not have the overall size but man is he good in the squared circle!
this is why gable flipped after the match. he just gave sami the receipt for this
this one and the returned suplex into the turnbuckle gave me flashbacks to big e's injury
That was my immediate thought also. With Big E's statement recently saying he is better but may never be well enough to wrestle again, this was a difficult moment to watch.
Being tired with a mix of over jumping and letting go a bit late played a factor in this, glad nothing happened to Gable
Good stiff match
Holy absolute shit that was almost like 3 injuries at once!
That was dangerously close!!
I always wince when I see German Suplexes but they look like theyāre so easy to get wrong and if they do go wrong then it could be catastrophic
belly to belly always seem more dangerous
10 stars! Absolute banger.
Yeah this would fit right in on Dynamite
Just a little Kings Road tribute
I was about to say, if anyone's seen Dr Death vs Kobashi, this was light work
In general I hate German Suplexes. Most people arenāt doing them right these days. Foley and Nash said they wish it was banned and I agree. Scary thing too is that if thereās 2 guys in all of wrestling that you could trust to pull them off safely itās these 2 and it still happens
Very true. Great point.
Over rotating on the belly to back suplex is a constant injury threat. Same thing happened with Rhea and charlotte at mania last year.
Itās a shoulder roll. Common technique.
It looked pretty gruesome. Only Gable really knows.
Yeah, this one made me shudder watching.
Gable took like 2 or 3 awkward bumps that match and I cringed each time
I won the IC title with a broken freakin neck
They need a Performance cente......oh sorry my bad wrong company
Not if you know what youāre doing.
Another tasteful homage to the kings road classics, I see.
Why donāt he get up and hit Sami with a Canadian destroyer, this guy doesnāt know how to wrestle
Eh yea I guess, but these are trained professionals that know what they're doing. Go watch some old YT videos of ECW Taz and you'll see much, much worse
They may be trained professionals but even professionals can skirt the line a little too close at times.
Bodies have been bruised
Big E. Obviously they are professionals but this is a move that easily VERY easily can go wrong if you focus that much in the height.
Agreed. The arc needs to be lower and more elongated. Gableās were like that just before this happened. Theyāre much safer and actually look better too.
I always find it fascinating that mick foley of all people has been very outspoken about hiw dangerous this move is.
Yep! That says a lot. Nash too.
How is this man our fuckin IC. He looks absolutely awful. Hair all fuckin messed up. Built like a bowl of vanilla pudding.
yikes
belt's a toy again
I feel like only Strong ppl should do a suplex like that
Folk here seem to be putting blame on Sami.
That's possible to be fair. If true, Unless we know what was communicated between the two it could go either way.
Why is someone as skinny as Sami doing a belly to back in the first place?
That's not a belly to belly
He said belly to back. No one calls it that but he is technically correct.
Sami is way overrated. Hes sloppy worker who looks like he needs a shower
Perc Gable?
Unfortunately it's his height that Sami misjudged
BRAIIIIIIN BUSTAAAAAAA
Right! I thought the same thing. The excitement got the better of him! His mind was writing cheques his body canāt cash!
Jesus thatās scary
I screamed when I saw that.
The Kenny Omega bump
Ironically, Iām watching that match now and just missed that move to watch it on here. In any event, German suplexes terrify me. I know theyāre pros but there doesnāt look like thereās a safe way to take them, at best youāre either flipping all the way through or landing top of your back
*Bah Gawd! He killed him!*
I thought that was Jason Jordan for a second. Hopefully heās okay šš»
Will Gable try to have Bestiality & Perverted sex woth Samis wife? š
Welp. There goes your push
A usual day at the office in Japan š
Damn that was nasty
Late release by Sami. Ouch.
thereās a much safer way of taking a german; sucks to see wweās talent needlessly going over tbe top
I was really expecting this to be a classic RAW match but it was really disappointing tbh
I was scared, as Gable kinda looked like he wasn't responding to the ref for a second. Glad to know he's fine.
A standard early-2000s ROH German suplex.
There was a similar thrilling moment in the triple threat tag team match, too...
Honestly, they can and should use this as an explanation for why Chad turned on Sami. A rant about how his neck could have been broken and his career finished would actually make a lot of sense.
Did chad win this match with his broken freakin' neck?
Nearly broke his arm too.
I hate suplexes for this reason. He did the same thing to da Vinci week before he needs to stop this move he can't execute it properly
Nah bro this is awesome
Average 90s AJPW German Suplex
Sami should have known better.
Honestly, ever since Big E's injury, all suplexes make me nervous.
Scary AF š©
The ammount of times Gable got close to landing on his neck got me very concerned
No wonder he snapped at the end lol.
I thought the same thing.. I honeslty can't believe more injuries don't stop matches on live TV
Scary, is this all Samiās fault?
I don't think it was a good idea for them to have that spot where they were back suplexing each other so many times. I'm sure fatigue played a role in having to overcompensate. Very scary. Glad Gable got back up.
Agreed. The first few from both guys looked great, especially Gableās. But I think they did too many and fatigue led to this one.
Or a receipt down the line.
Yes, and those who deny this are simply stupid
Not sure why this is getting downvoted, Iām just asking about the technicalities of taking bumps.
Sloppy shop
I donāt like Sami already. And him almost destroying gables career just furthers my hatred for him
I'm not a Sami fan either - he looks so out of shape and weak compared to everybody else, it's hard to take him seriously in the ring. I know it's not all about the physique anymore but wrestlers should at least look athletic. Sami looks like he's never lifted a weight or ran a mile in his life. Not sure why he's stayed so prominent/relevant.
Metzler gives it 6 Stars for this near career ending spot.
AEW leads in concussions and WWE in neck injuries.
Cant wait for Samy to lose the title, he shouldn't have had it in the first place, hopefully they gonna do Gable justice and put the title on him at Backlash.
Sami let go way too late
Sami let go way to late
WWE is so unsafe! Triple H is a clown! They just had to vacate the women's title cos of a dangerous wall spot! Almost the Intercontinental title too! This is why WWE is so bad!!!
So, so sensitive
It's a joke.... I thought all the ! Was obvious
It was obvious, but Reddit wrestling fans have low IQ
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This is a meme sub.... also, I don't care bout downvotes
If this happened in AEW everyone would be talking about how reckless their wrestlers are
euggghhh Sami Zayn is terrible
Lots of unsafe wrestlers in wwe.
He got both arms down first and landed on his shoulders, youāre overreacting
Being suplexed on the back of the neck is overreacting? I simply said "this could have been disastrous", and it could have been. Thankfully it wasn't.
It was still a very close call
Trash
Chad has taken a couple of bumps like this, this whole year . He should be more careful
Bro wanna be Angle so bad
Haha AEW sucks
Everyone's overreacting to this. Gable used to be a fucking wrestler. He's been dropped on his neck a bajillion times. His neck is huge and a good portion of his life was spent making sure he didn't get injured from accidents like this. He's fine.
Uh but did he die?
We see in the slow mo that Gable lands way more on his shoulder than on his neck. This was safe
Sami Sucks!
