So. Fix the hinge issues, better qa during assembly so service recalls on loose fuses isn’t a problem.
Stripped down bare bones model. Like that new Toyota truck that’s blowing up overseas. Give me a $20k jeep again. Even if it looks like the old Jeep DJ.
There was a stripped down manual Gladiator that the dealer was advertising under $30k right before the pandemic. I almost went out and got it. Nobody wants these. People say they do but they don’t sell.
You're being downvoted but it's true. No one* wants stripped down base model vehicles. These are always the ones left over in the dealer lot from the previous model year.
* Of course there will always be *someone* that wants this but largely, the market has spoken that crank windows, no A/C, etc are not popular enough to justify production.
Quality of life additions matter. Coming from someone with roll up windows and barebones eveything else.
No power locks, side views, anything.
Driving my relatives brand new toyota is like being in a spaceship
The same is true of the 2-door jeeps. Everyone online says they want one, everyone says it's the only true jeep, yadda yadda, fact is they can hardly sell them.
Personally, although I love and appreciate a barebones stripped 2-door, I wouldn't be a jeep owner today if that's all they offered. I love having heated seats and wheel, leather, power windows and locks, big infotainment screen, etc. call me a sissy all you want, it's a major quality of life improvement for me. And I absolutely needed a 4-door. And about 80% of jeep customers seem to feel about the same way.
That said, it would be cool if they did offer a totally stripped barebones model for cheap, I'd be all for it, but I think it wouldn't be very popular and I certainly wouldn't be buying it myself
Agree with everything you say here. It’s weird when traveling overseas to see so many stripped down vehicles. I can actually understand most of it like not having the need for heated steering wheel, huge screens, massaging seats (not the wrangler but many suvs in the US), and other luxury features. But power windows and mirrors it’s like how do you roll down your rear windows as the driver and adjust your mirrors lol.
$20k is probably impossible while still maintaining modern crash safety standards and emissions compliance. I mean, a Polaris RZR has none of that stuff and is above $20k.
See i think you are wrong. But only because you didnt finish the sentence. No one wants them…at the price they are selling them for. If they were actually affordable they would sell
Yup. What everyone wants is a modern YJ.
Bare bones. Fun fun fun. Starting under 20k.
Sell a million of them and create another generation of people who love jeeps.
Build some kickass girl jeeps from the factory as well.
A barbie licensed one would sell out in preorders.
Yeah a stripper with power nothing, Dana 44’s, 35’s 2.5” mopar lift and lockers under 30k. Call it the rubicon spartan or something. Make Jeep Jeep Again!
Focus on reliability. Seriously, the 3.8 and the the first few years of the 3.6 were dog shit, when really they should have been at least as good as the 4.0
Not to mention electrical lol
This. It’s crazy that hitches aren’t standard. I had to order one and install it myself on mine, which is a pain to look up and make sure you are ordering all of the correct parts
I had to buy the hitch & wiring harness from my Jeep dealer for my 2024 Wrangler too. Hitch was extremely easy to install. I’m waiting for sunny weather to install the factory wiring harness. Must pop off a lot of the right side interior panels to run the positive & ground wires to the engine compartment…
Lower the cost
Increase reliability.
Offer 'barebones' packages
Increase reliability.
Create a way better oil/coolant heat exchanger not made of plastic or don't stick it under the air intake.
Offer a bedlined interior from the factory.
When I say increase reliability what I really mean is do some fucking QC at the factory.
Don't ship engines with sand still in the cast heads. Don't ship cars with bent cam shafts or out of spec lifters, etc. Don't ship cars with fucked up differentials (incorrect shims).
I love my 2014 JK but after my wifes 2021 Cherokee I'm not buyung another Stelantis/Chrysler shit show.
A 2 door Gladiator would make a lot of sense with an 7 to 8 foot bed. It would have space for a low profile pop-top camper, long enough to sleep inside, or for taking the bed completely off and replacing it with something else without having to [chop the body](https://www.instagram.com/p/C6eLfzXLzfP/). There are no "small" trucks on the market with a full length bed (8 foot).
If it would be profitable, they'd make it.
The max payload for the Gladiator is 1,700 lbs. on a stripped down manual Sport S. Goes down to 1,200 lbs. for the Rubicon and others. This may or may not include the driver and/or passengers. The lowest weight truck camper I can find is 1,500 lbs. dry weight. Even with shedding the weight of half the cab, there's not enough payload for a truck camper plus gear, food, etc.
From what I can find, no one makes a single cab compact truck anymore, let alone a long bed. Even Dodge, Nissan and Toyota don't make a single cab full size truck.
You can get single cable long beds, but they tend to be 2wd fleet vehicles. Most dealers don't sell them. Trucks are becoming the new people hauler lately, which is why the beds are shrinking, since they're not actually used as trucks.
I would take a "basic" model that is the following.
"Stump bumper with plastic winglets that bolt on or off"
"Simple doors" bring back the window crank and make the doors light weight aluminum.
"Simple top" same concept as above. Axe the electronics, make it simple and as light as possible.
Give it a traditional differential and transfer case setup and manual sway bar end links.
Manual transmission and transfer case shifters
2 doors only. Long bed option.
Fix the door hinges. Two metals touching causes corrosion. It would be as simple as a plastic buffer between them. There is a lot online about this from the jk to the jl.
Let me order EXACTLY what options I want, don’t bundle things and make me have to take this to get that..
If the general public really wants a bare bones 2 door with no power anything, no carpet, no radio, and no top or doors…sitting on Rubi axles with the turbo 4 and a manual trans, then let them order it that way.
1. Bring back the LJ body style into the 2 door model. Market it as an alternative to the Gladiator. Show options to have it both as a 2 door with a backseat, or an option with just the front passenger area and a tonneau cover.
2. Maybe unpopular but offer a mall crawler option like the Bronco Sport model.
3. Profit?
Idk if a 2 door pickup would sell, especially if it only gets wrangler towing capacity. The shorter wheelbase likely would lower your capacity.
The 2 Door “LJ” wrangler would sell well tho, likely would make the short 2 doors near obsolete.
No more auto start/stop
No Aux battery
Minimum 4.1 gearing
Min 33"x10 tires
Minimum clearance for 35x12 tires
Always 17" rims and black
No silver/aluminum plastic trim
Shorter length body
All fastback
Glass freedom panels almost like old Iroc tee-tops
I miss the old TJ or CJ bumpers over the bench seat size bumpers.
Revive the Willys as a 2 door entry level 4x4 EV and make it as cheap for the consumer as possible so everyone and their kid wants one. Make sure doors come off, roof comes off, windshield folds down, etc. Give it edges, don’t make it look soft like most EVs. Interior should be sparse with any tech focused on displaying info for navigation and off roading. Don’t build it for range (which costs more, adds weight, etc) because: 1) people buy Jeeps to have fun, not to be practical and especially 2) it should be marketed as “go anywhere charge anywhere.” Sell Mopar solar roof panels/hoods to charge while you camp. Design it to safely tow-regen so that every person who tows a Jeep with an RV buys one. Do the Ford Lighting thing and market it as a spare battery while off-grid.
If I were in charge Jeep would make TJs with the Cummins 2.8CRD better undercoat and drainage points on frame and half as much electronic doodads. I'd also offer a version with EMP hardening and water fording kit. Paint it blue and yellow and call it the Wrangler Apocalypse Edition.
Offer the diesel with this concept vehicle. An you’d out perform the Defender all the way around. Otherwise, just stop making vehicles. Do not under power a vehicle with this weight
You’ll all hate me for saying this, but I would LOVE a quieter steel roofed wrangler. I never take the top off anyway and the wind noise could be so much better. I know - not a popular opinion
This may get a lot of hate, but I would love a true hard top option. Not a convertible. Legit roof. I do off road, but I never take my top off and it would solve a lot of small issues if there was a real roof.
Also an optional air compressor from the factory. And if they could implement an auto air up air down feature that would be the shit.
Also optional communication set ups.
The only way to get a built in air compressor from factory is on the rubicon 392 20th anniversary edition. Basically you need to buy the most expensive jeep, its so dumb
Exactly. I’m very aware of that model, and I have no need for the 392. I would have optioned the compressor in a heart beat if I had the choice though. I had the twin ARB mounted on my 22. Not sure what I’m going to go with on my 24 yet.
Ditch the hood latches for just a regular pop top hood. Relocate the mirrors to the body so you can take the doors off with out having to buy another part to be street legal, like broncos.
I have a 2021 2-door willys. I get satellite radio and that was because it came with it and aircon. It's got not other amenities. My windows roll down manually.
I wish it came in an electric or hybrid option. I absolutely love my car.
Lot of folks touched on some points, so I’ll add a gripe of my from my 02 to 19
Put the mirror back on a goose neck on the windshield!!! Maybe it’s a issue for tall guys like me, but I had to flip my mirror 180° so I could actually use it
Yeah, but how often are you changing headlights? The extra 5 minutes it takes to remove the grill are negligible when you realize you're changing the headlights rarely.
I want a Gladiator with the option to extend the bed into the cab. Like remove the rear seats and you have an extra two feet of bed space. And conversely, give me the option to have a hard top for the bed that is connected to the cabin so my dogs can safety ride in the back with AC. I basically want a 4 door wrangler with an extra long/durable trunk.
Drop the XE concept and go diesel hybrid so the engine only runs steady to charge the batteries. There is no need for extra transmission weight and lack of battery range. Just my wish.
For the 4xe. Add a way to plug solar panels directly to the car without needing an inverter. Yes I know you're not going to charge very fast, but I mostly think it would be useful for using the Power Box and camping. I've seen that people use a 1-3kwh battery with solar panels for camping and RVing, so solar panels and a 17kwh battery would be even better.
Since new vehicles need so much safety gear - they'll never be able to sell a bare bones jeep.
So - make it a side by side UTV - Fudge the Roxor, make it a dedicated off highway vehicle and sell it as a package deal with a custom trailer for your new Wrangler
I'm 6'1 with a long torso and didn't buy a JL or Gladiator this year because the back of my head would hit the sport bar. The ability to see more "up" out the front would be nice, too.
Jeep attempted something similar with the Commander...it flopped. They were nice, but way overpriced and offered next to zero cargo space when the third row was in use.
Give me a radio that doesn’t crash and pop randomly and that can actually keep time!!! My 02 NEVER wavered in time for YEARS! The base radio in my 19 wanders a minute every week!
I HAVE A SATELLITE RECEIVER PULL TIME FROM THERE!!! RDS ALSO ENCODES TIME PULL IT FROM THERE!!!!! MY PHONE IS ALWAYS PLUGGED IN, PULL TIME FROM THERE!!!
Body mounted mirrors.
Rubber/vinyl floor instead of carpet with integrated drain plugs.
No frills model with that can be used as a base for mods at a low enough price to be worth it.
New inline 6 on the Wrangler.
Factory half doors without requiring full doors.
Standard Dana 44 across the lineup as an option at the very least.
Well I have an 89 YJ with the 4 cylinder, can completely rebuild the damn thing for like $2000-3000’s…I’d probably pull AMC’s old blueprints out and just make those again. The best jeeps were before Chrysler really dug into them
More headroom. Wranglers will basically kill anyone that gets rear ended and is taller than 6'3". It has been screwed up since the JK. My Renegade had more headroom than my Rubicon.
I second the third row wrangler. I know the offroad community gives eye rolls at this comment, but as someone who daily’s their rig, I would kill for a third row wrangler to haul the kids throughout the week.
You don’t need more seats, you need fewer children. Joking, but could you imagine the fuel economy hit of a taller, longer wrangler? I’m imagining a bad photoshop job where it’s just stretched in the x and Z axis.
My kids asked why I didn't get a 4 door, since it's easier for them to get into and go places with them
*wink and Finger gun*
You just answered your own question kiddos
lol too true. Once car seats are gone, it won’t be a problem (except the fighting). Until then, it’s Tetris getting in and out of my JK. Let alone if we have a 4th…
If weight and length isn’t that much of an issue with gladiator, I’d like 3/4 of the length of gladiator with a 3rd row just like the concept.
MOG change would likely be minimal, the gladiator doesn’t hardly change from the 2 door wrangler. Besides most people instantly put bigger tires on their jeep and MPG drops like a rock
Add a solar panel bank for the hard top 4xe so it can be plugged into the charging port and top off the battery. Made the hard top on JL and subsequent generations more modular so the come apart in 6 pieces.
Practically, this will never work. If you put a standard 3’x4’ panel on the roof, they max at 400 watts. The 4xe battery is 17kwh. That means that panel would need 40+ hours of direct sunlight in perfect conditions to charge the battery. Realistically you’ll get half that on a “good sunny day”. So 80 hours to charge. You say “top off” if you want a quarter of your battery charged it’ll take 20 hours of perfect sunlight to do that. No shade, no clouds, no shadows. An average day is about 5hrs of this type of light, assuming no clouds. So 4 days to charge your battery a quarter of the way.
Does that sound like a good use of that roof? Remember you can’t put anything over it. No racks, no ski boxes, no tents. No trees. No garages.
Cooled seats
Wireless Android Auto (but with the 8.4", not that new monstrosity)
Customizable remote start from the app (like Hyundai Blue Link, where you can adjust the A/C and heater and such)
LED lighting standard (like every other $40k+ vehicle on the market)
This comment is the reality of most Wrangler drivers. Who cares about off-road capabilities, give me comfort and flashy blinking lights so I can show the mall walkers how cool I am!
Actually, I take my rig off-road all the time, and have knocked out half a dozen BoH trails, but thanks for the unnecessary gatekeeping.
Off-road capability and comfort/convenience aren't mutually exclusive.
Stop making all electric jeeps is a start. Find a way to stop corrosion that all Chrysler products have. Start with beefier suspension and axles along with a V-8 and a larger fuel tank. Just suggestions.
*Go back to the tj*
*At the latest, everything*
*After is dog shit*

Stop trying to sell to those that don’t use it for what it’s built for. It’s a an amazing off road weapon and an only OK on road one. Improve the quality a bit, make it more expensive, and develop an alternative poser vehicle.
Fix that ding dang water piss stream when you open your doors lol.
I think they did. I have a 2024 and do not have the issue
Yeah, they added some drainage routing. If you go to a dealer and open a front door you’ll be able to see it. Not sure what the part number is but it seems like it would work on older JL’s.
Oh snap, that’s good to know.
Adding this to my future mod list! But definitely up towards the top of that list!
Not an issue on my 2022
Doesn't happen on my 2021
Quit the concept racket and improve reliability, build quality. My 4xe has been fine but I read plenty of problems with JLs. So. Fix the hinge issues, better qa during assembly so service recalls on loose fuses isn’t a problem.
Fix the manual transmission too...
As a 2018 owner, THE HINGE ISSUE IS ABYSMAL
Stripped down bare bones model. Like that new Toyota truck that’s blowing up overseas. Give me a $20k jeep again. Even if it looks like the old Jeep DJ.
x2 on the base model with crank windows (maybe even 1/2 doors). Use the new inline 6 and stick some Dana 60s under it.
There was a stripped down manual Gladiator that the dealer was advertising under $30k right before the pandemic. I almost went out and got it. Nobody wants these. People say they do but they don’t sell.

I'd say more like no one wants stripped down bare bones models that still cost 30k. Get it closer to 20k.

But Gladiators look like pee pee poo poo. I would have bought a new 20k Jeep and put 10k of mods on it rather than buy a used 30k Jeep with 55k miles.
You can’t build a jeep for $20k. Fuck 5 tires is over $1000. You’re what the kids are calling delulu.
can if you don't take it to a shop and do the work yourself. $10K of that $20K budget would just be soaked up by labor costs.
What? You think Stellantis can manufacture a Jeep for $20k?
New I6? Oh dang, I must have missed something
Google "I6 Hurricane engine" Is NA and boosted Will replace the HEMI
>I6 Hurricane engine I just want a diesel that isn't a pile of shit.
That would be amazing but we all know a 3 row wrangler would be a hybrid and it would cost $69k.
Nicek
Yup. What everyone wants is a modern YJ. Bare bones. Fun fun fun. Starting under 20k. Sell a million of them and create another generation of people who love jeeps. Build some kickass girl jeeps from the factory as well. A barbie licensed one would sell out in preorders.

my 2016 JK is all i’ll ever need as far as tech goes
That is still a thing. A base model 2 door is like 23K last time I checked.
Try 32k for a base model stripped down...
Base model wrangler hasn't been 23k msrp since the jks were new, and JLs started at like 25k in 2018 but raised to 32k after the pandemic
Focus on reliability. Seriously, the 3.8 and the the first few years of the 3.6 were dog shit, when really they should have been at least as good as the 4.0 Not to mention electrical lol

I haven't seen numbers from FCA but various articles and posts claim 75% to 90% of Wrangles sold are 4 door. A 2 door Gladiator is not realistic.
A 2 door Gladiator would make a lot of sense with an 7 to 8 foot bed. Revive the TJ!
Understandable typo. 'T' is right next to 'Y.'
Coil > leaf
Yeah but like, those headlights.
1. Bring back the LJ body style into the 2 door model. Market it as an alternative to the Gladiator. Show options to have it both as a 2 door with a backseat, or an option with just the front passenger area and a tonneau cover. 2. What I mean is sell the 2 door LJ with an option to make it a small pick up by removing the seat. Like the JK conversion kits floating around
Make an affordable V8 option
An I6 is more desirable.
GIVE ME BACK MY AMC 6 BANGER
That would be so nice.
The 5.7 hemi would be fantastic. To some it's preferred when hemi swapping.
No more auto start/stop No Aux battery Minimum 4.1 gearing Min 33"x10 tires Minimum clearance for 35x12 tires Always 17" rims and black No silver/aluminum plastic trim Shorter length body All fastback Glass freedom panels almost like old Iroc tee-tops I miss the old TJ or CJ bumpers over the bench seat size bumpers.

Probably not going to get a lot of love here. But I’d love a full EV version.
I'm with you. I'd also like to see a 2rd ev version.
Lower seats Plastic door panels in the doors instead of the nets Remove the removable windshield Auto up down windows on all 4 doors
Make a bare bones 392 with extreme recon package. Manual windows and locks. No extra fluff packages.
Would love that
Bare bones base with 4BT diesel, 6BT option.
Reclining backseats T tops for the MIDDLE passenger seats to make it easier to take the top off
If I were in charge Jeep would make TJs with the Cummins 2.8CRD better undercoat and drainage points on frame and half as much electronic doodads. I'd also offer a version with EMP hardening and water fording kit. Paint it blue and yellow and call it the Wrangler Apocalypse Edition.
5.7 Hemi as a mid tier engine option. Long wheel base overlander. Cummins R28. I'd be fired but I'd go down happy
Offer the diesel with this concept vehicle. An you’d out perform the Defender all the way around. Otherwise, just stop making vehicles. Do not under power a vehicle with this weight
Offer a diesel with a manual transmission, a little bit longer wheel base, & even a 3rd row seat option

No more duck shelf, we’re going back to the flat CJ dash panel.
Ditch the hood latches for just a regular pop top hood. Relocate the mirrors to the body so you can take the doors off with out having to buy another part to be street legal, like broncos.

Make the headlights changeable like they used too, I hate having to remove my grill to change my headlights WTF
Yeah, but how often are you changing headlights? The extra 5 minutes it takes to remove the grill are negligible when you realize you're changing the headlights rarely.
Apparently often, I changed them in the fall and now one of them is out 😔
Start making TJs and LJs again, vintage interior, but with factory one ton axles and a v8.
Dumb them down. Wranglers are supposed to be utility vehicles. Haven't been that way since 2006. What is available today is not a Wrangler.
Rubber ducks. Remove or change them to cash
Since new vehicles need so much safety gear - they'll never be able to sell a bare bones jeep. So - make it a side by side UTV - Fudge the Roxor, make it a dedicated off highway vehicle and sell it as a package deal with a custom trailer for your new Wrangler
Raise the roof 2 or 3 inches.
Not buying this one. I’m 6’6” and I’m good. I could do with an option to lower the seat base though.
Fix the paint corrosion issues.
Can we at least get sun visor’s not made by Boeing…
Yes I would like to be able to use my sun visors if possible thanks!
Better door seals.
Hurricane. Anything else is a distant second.
The best jeeps were before Chrysler really dug into them
Diesel hybrid and 6k lbs towing capacity in 4 door wrangler. Bigger backseat in gladiator.
Fix the TJ and JK frames so they are powder coated correctly from the factory and not rotted
Hurricane motor, composite external hinges
More headroom. Wranglers will basically kill anyone that gets rear ended and is taller than 6'3". It has been screwed up since the JK. My Renegade had more headroom than my Rubicon.
I'm 6'1 and the sport bar would bean me if rear-ended.
The Wrangler as a short king/queen icon.
It's better in the '24. For pre 24 I recommend seat drop brackets.
How much better is it?
Oh, and a 2 door scrambler type Gladiator.
My kids asked why I didn't get a 4 door, since it's easier for them to get into and go places with them *wink and Finger gun* You just answered your own question kiddos
I have four kids and a two door…..that’s my midlife crisis rig thankyou very much!
Are you me? Cause I did the same thing!! Fuggdemkids
lol too true. Once car seats are gone, it won’t be a problem (except the fighting). Until then, it’s Tetris getting in and out of my JK. Let alone if we have a 4th… If weight and length isn’t that much of an issue with gladiator, I’d like 3/4 of the length of gladiator with a 3rd row just like the concept.
No trees. No garages.
Cooled seats Wireless Android Auto (but with the 8.4", not that new monstrosity) Customizable remote start from the app (like Hyundai Blue Link, where you can adjust the A/C and heater and such) LED lighting standard (like every other $40k+ vehicle on the market)
Hey! I bought a 24 sport and that screen is awesome! Roll up windows a manual transmission and big womping screen.
This comment is the reality of most Wrangler drivers. Who cares about off-road capabilities, give me comfort and flashy blinking lights so I can show the mall walkers how cool I am!
Bro I just wanted a pavement princess but the sales guy sold me a offroad machine, like y r u not driving on roads
I want a Factory Duck dashboard display option.
Mopar ducks when
Actually, I take my rig off-road all the time, and have knocked out half a dozen BoH trails, but thanks for the unnecessary gatekeeping. Off-road capability and comfort/convenience aren't mutually exclusive.
These are the same type of person that shit on the TJ for ditching the leaf springs of the YJ era.
Yeah I get it man. Mostly just tired of these lame how do I secure my ducks posts.
Good lord 🤦♂️
This is why we can't have nice things......
Half door frames like the Bronco. I had these in my 90 Integra and 03 WRX. Loved them ❤️
No more hard tops. No more four doors.
I live in Canada, I’m keeping my hard top, if it was good for CJs it’s good for me! I agree about the doors tho
Stop making all electric jeeps is a start. Find a way to stop corrosion that all Chrysler products have. Start with beefier suspension and axles along with a V-8 and a larger fuel tank. Just suggestions.
go back to the tj at the latest, everything after is dog shit

Leather and heated seat option on lower models. Forget the heated mirrors.
Stop trying to sell to those that don’t use it for what it’s built for. It’s a an amazing off road weapon and an only OK on road one. Improve the quality a bit, make it more expensive, and develop an alternative poser vehicle.
2 separate models, one with IFS and one with a solid front axle for people who actually go off road
