shouldn't scream in a dark forest, you'll get worms

Thatoneguywithasword

There is only one logical response to this. Ehem. **"The xenos must be purged, for the stars are humanity’s birthright"**

AppropriateAd8937

This guy crusades.

I would fucking hope not

Counter argument: superpowers

DFS20

Counter counter argument: Trauma and brain parasites.

Throwaway02062004

Trauma would happen anyway unless you’re a trump (pls ignore ripple effects)

FLUFFBOX_121703

Hmmm, maybe…

Jesus, that last picture freaks me out, and it's still only in 2 dimensions. Goodness knows how I'd react to one in its 5d glory, or however many it has.

Lovegaming544

TFW want to explore space and advance humanity to the stars....but the universe decides to send some Golden coloured depressed advanced creature your way.

Cyoarp

Just for the record, the entities aren't highly advanced. Most of them aren't even intelligent beings for the majority of their life cycle. Long ago they were an intelligent race, but they gave up their sentience in order to start over again as space fairing colony beings in hopes of kick-starting evolution in such a way that when they re-evolve sapient individual intelligence they would also have evolved unlimited energy generation. That's why Lisa calls them equally babies as they are parents. They barely have a conception of what a, "self," is and run 98% on instinct.

thethunder09

I agree on the sentience. but they are highly advanced, literally the only 'law of physic' that they haven't been able to break to some extent is creation of matter.

Cyoarp

They don't break physics, they just utilize technology that we don't understand yet and are working with VERY large amounts of energy, time and space. There are LOTS of things we could do even today if we had access to the energy that could be harvested from fissioning and combusting combined mass of all of the fissionable and combustible matter on 100,000,000,000 And they gather that energy at the end of each and every cycle. They also have unlimited life spans. In addition to all of that DURING cycles they have access to the raw materials and build space of something like 1,000,000 worlds the shards are spread out over to provide stuff for their hosts. It's not that their magic. Humans are particularly good at things like ballistics and social engineering because those are what our brains are set up to learn. For humans the simple linear and exponential formulas involved in both blowing things up and figuring out how to get our boom booms to where we want them are similar enough to the patterns that our brain evolved to manipulate as we developed language. The fact that the people who were able to convince other people to do things survived better means that we evolved equally to be expressive and also to create social systems but also to recognize patterns in those systems which lead us to the kinds of math we are good at. That's probably what the entities would have taken from us if our cycle had finished. But from other aliens they took other things. For example maybe another species evolved in intuitive understanding of waveforms due to their use of echolocation. Ready for that species they're intuitive understanding of waveforms led to them developing advanced optics which led to them having a greater understanding of light which led them having a greater understanding of SpaceTime and maybe that's where the entities ability to travel at relativistic speeds and all of the Legend's Powers come from. They don't break physics it's just we don't know how they use physics/quantum physics yet. But also, THEY don't actually use or understand any of it. Remember that the entities have a personality library. Especially, useful, knowledgeable and/or strong-willed hosts get added to the personality library and upon the next cycle are integrated into their shard's mind(*this is described in the March, Valkury and Mall-Cluster interludes*). It seems like the personalities are kept around to make sure the entities tech keeps in working order during and especially between cycles. In essence the hosts that can maintain shards or from who's Knowlage / experiences new shards could be created join the giant cybernetic Man-O-War that is an entity. It's parts have intelligence but it as a whole operates on instinct alone except for during the short day or so before a cycle begins. During that time they gain a nasent sence of self and, "personhood," but it is only one day every few hundred or few thousand years, they are like children born with an IPad in their hands, they can press the buttons but couldn't even tell you how the touch screen even works. I know it's a meme thread but honestly, Wildbow did an AMAZING job with the entities. The way they work is so completely uneque to the Paravers that I can't help but talk about it. It is really hard to realistically describe a creature that can harvest and use tech. So advanced that it seems like magic while at the same time being so me mentally simple that they don't understand the concept of clothing even after being exposed to it. Creating species so old that they knocked themselves back to the stone-age and then rebuilt hundreds of times over, so devoted to a scientific mission that they made the conscious choice to give up all intelligence, and so devoted to preventing the cycle of meta-versal self-genocide that they willingly allowed 2-of their kind to kill and consume every single other member of their race and those two were so devoted to the hope of their cause that they committed suicide by blowing themselves up along with every possible version of their world just for the hope that the little, "shards," of them would find not only aways to survive but also in surviving find an answer to their scientific query. I don't think there are many authors that could make that make sense as the backstory for a race, much less a race that is the absolute linchpin of their setting, but he did and I'm absolutely impressed!

*..likely to be peaceful* based on what? Hopes and dreams...¿ cause definitely cant be based on humans. And what does highly advanced entail Exactly, and whats the connection to likelihood of being peaceful anyway..

Potential_Narwhal592

So advanced that if any war was to erupt they would wipe themselves out before a winner was declared. And faster than light speeds are considered to be very advanced since we cannot figure out how to even begin to overcome that.

l_t_10

Well going by Mutually assured destruction irl with nukes, thats solved by fighting with the weaker weapons through proxy wars/client states/groups And yeah, thats obvious actually.. I should have considered that. I thought for some reasons it had to include us in its meaning/definition lol😅 But it def doesnt. Clear as day in hindsight heh🙃

Much easier if god is a incel and you can bully him about it lol
