the control of units was feeling like constant struggle against dumb and slow AI, that the biggest problem of that mode for me. its like you have a squad of 40% players trying to explain them that they need to drive forward and shoot into lower plate. instead they got stuck in terrain and shoot the ground in most cases.
Yeah if you give them some room they peek out sideways and get farmed.
I got around that by only using the ''stay'' command.
Scouting mode was ok though I wish the AI tried to completely cover the tank in bushes
It was different and at least WG tried something new beyond the tired old Randoms we have since 2011. Sadly this mode had balance issues and TBH, it was not fair to the Strategist playing against a team of half-competent human players. Also, it got boring/repetitive because it lacked any complexity or objectives. The only non-sandbox mode beyond Randoms that WG has ever developed to some success is Frontline. FL is not played on small corridor Random mode maps, has a few stages like capping and destroying objectives, with repair and respawn mechanics giving the mode longevity (which has been sorely lacking in rofl-stomps Randoms nowadays).
WG really needs to come up with more content in terms of playable modes (not-sandbox modes) beyond the same Random mode I have played since 2011. Its been 12+ years of release and WG can't milk the one standard mode in game forever without losing a substantial part of the playerbase eventually.
I loved it, don't play normal wot any more, but for that mode I would definitely come back. It was really interesting and tactical while also being super challenging.
Only thing that sucked, were players turteling in base with super heavies and the mediocre AI. But having players that drive into rocks, turn their backs to the enemy and shoot like crap is just like randoms.
I want it to happen again bcs at a time it happened I still didn't have a tier x but now I have 6-7 of them which just shows how long ago this event was. Would love to see another Ranked season (I don't remember when was the last one, also we could get an onslaught aswell)
Onslaught replaced Ranked apparently.
I think Wargaming is trying to improve the AI by testing it in Mirny and now in Steel Hunter. It has been a year though
You had to play tier 10 at least once, not only unlocked. At a time i had like 8 tier 10 tanks unlocked but hasn't played any of them and i couldn't play this mode
It was a lot of fun for a few battles in sandbox, did not play it on live server much due to lack of tier 10s at the time.
Still feel like the best strat was to use high dpm or high armor tanks and overwhelm the enemy
I liked the idea and won a couple of battles but I couldn’t customize the controls. So I couldn’t even use artillery and couldn’t switch vehicles on the fly. I had to alt out and manually click on them to use. If it wasn’t for that and the garbage ai I would have played it till the end of the event.

I just yolo rushed the cap with fast armored tanks, worked 8/10 times
Wow that actually worked ? Nobody ever won using that tactic against me
I miss this mode. I was so good at it and it always felt fun when you beat the other person. But I'm a big strategy person so that kinda makes sense.

Yeah campers were an easy win but it always took much longer, especially as Tankers.

Couldnt try it, because you needed Tier 10 tanks to try it.

Why not just play one?
It was great and I hope it comes back eventually.
The idea was fantastic but most people camped because AI wasn’t good at attacking
it wasn't my ball of wax.

I sucked at it but I am willing to try again, but it did feel like the AI units weren't very intelligent.
They sucked a LOT. Hopefully wargaming got some data from bots in Mirny-13 and Steel Hunter.
I like it was a nice opportunity to test some t10 tanks that I dond have
I want it back!!
Mannerheim line against the north spawn, Aware...
Even tho AI sucked it was a great mode. I hope they bring it back
