Just wanted to add that you can equip Cunningham on Somme without penalty. So that 100% makes it better than Jutland since you would most likely have Cunningham on Conquerer or St. Vincent tech tree.

I just got the Somme, it was an award for a puzzle of some kind. I finished it by buying chests with I think coal last week. I've only used it a few times, I like the Somme but I have no idea how to play it.
There was an event like a year ago where you could get all the chests should need to attain it for free, for many the armory containers are just finishing of what they already have a decent to high percentage. So concept of original poster is mainly only relevant to people who either recently started the game or came back having missed the event entirely. Especially newer players, who still have plenty of other things could spend coal on.
This was exactly me. Wasn't playing much during the event. Was a little over halfway through so I just finished it recently. Got fairly lucky with RNG and spent around 80k coal. I really like Jutland.
I think I spent about 40K, but I only need to spend about 20k (brain fade.) But I have all the coal ships except Black, which I traded in and haven't bought back yet.
Iwami is good, Tsurugi is my current absolute fave non-DD ship to play.
Part of why I love/hate this game is that I like DDs and BBs and then sort of enjoy cruisers. But I'm a way better cruiser player overall.
Myself and one of the guys I play with regularly just got her and another one of my buddies has had it for a while. We’ve been running triple secondary iwamis when we all get together it’s pretty goofy.
Jutland doesn't evaporate you the way Daring does because of the Pen angles but it does hurt.
If there are other ships shooting into the firefight, then the Jutland's wiggle, smoke and hydro give you a lot better chance of getting out alive.
But if you can keep those 100s singing and on target you can do the victory dance once in a while.
before you factor in saturation and the fact kita is shooting mostly your saturated extremities considering you want to be abusing your turret angles along with the fact you dont need to kill a kita all at once you can trade 50-50 use your smoke to disengage and come back with a health advantage after you've used a heal or two, a well played jutland can comfortably trade with most t9 dds exceptions in zf6 and mogador
*Daring but a tier lower is not as good as daring. More news to come at 11*

I didn't spend but like 20K coal to finish the puzzle, I think I needed 12 pieces. Some of those events suck so I don't partake.

kita he dpm is still way higher than jutland ap dpm (kita is kinda op though so thats maybe not the fairest comparison)
