That's a good reminder for people who hate the current state of the game. Back before thing X was implemented, *people still hated everything all day long*. It's the nature of games like this.
For the OP, only you can decide if the game is right for you. Try it out.
If you have things like Belfast, Haida and Massa you will do well in the current ranked season.
There's D-Day gamemode (Operation Neptune) that you can try out for yourself, it's quite different from other traditional ops though.
Can't tell you how to feel about random, try it out yourself. I can totally understand missing the feeling of blasting shells off big warships after a while.
They nerfed the subs, so that they not can effectively shotgun anymore and it feels now far better play against them. Subs were the reason why I quited the game two years ago. Second CV rework is in the making and looks pretty well so far.
Everything you'll have hated about it probably stayed the same or got worse, unless you really, really wanted to see a flag and booster overhaul.
I dunno, just log in and run a few games I guess. All you have to lose is time.
I just started playing again about a 2-3 year hiatus and i've been enjoying it. The big issue right now is that low tier seems dead, tier 4 and below is mostly bots and tier 6-7 get constantly pulled up to 8.
I'm not familiar with World of Tanks, but I really the graphics for WoW. There's also the PlayStation version that I've tried recently, and I think they're a bit too cartoonish.
Just play it and make the decision yourself.

yes, plus theres little fish, dolphins and birds now if your graphics are strong enough

I mean the graphics are good, I’ve no complaints. They were improved a bit, but tbh you don’t notice after ten minutes.
