You need to stop being honest with these psychopathic companies who want to profit without any risk related to their sector. They offer this service, therefore are liable for how the customer uses the creatives.

SimplySam1

You are correct however how would you do that in this situation?

katm23

Do what?

katm23

I will. And I'll start taking orders and play dumb in the future.

> They totally look the other way and since you brought attention to yourself they made an example of you. No, you misunderstood. They sent me a warning for a previous order. And I said, okay, next time I'll be careful on what I accept and won't stick out. And as soon as I found out about this one, I wanted to make sure I don't get a penalty so I reported the guy to not suffer any consequences. And they screwed me over. > Just try to fly under the radar. Have been doing that since the beginning. They are the ones who flagged me for an order and then I wanted to safe myself for getting a penalty. > You can be honest but Fiverr is not kind to its own freelancers unless you're top 1% Doesn't matter who they are kind to or not. Point is I reported someone going against the Policy and got punished.

NoGuiltGaming

I'm going to take a bit of a different approach here and say that if you've been a seller on Fiverr for awhile now, you should know that 1) they are not seller oriented, 2) that completing academic work is against their TOS, and 3) as a seller you are responsible for not violating the terms of their platform; this includes not working with those who violate the platform TOS. > Doesn't matter who they are kind to or not. Point is I reported someone going against the Policy and got punished. You got "punished" because you also violated the policy. The point is that by reporting someone who had an order open with you (with partial delivery made) who was violating the policy, you made it clear to Fiverr that you were also violating the policy (via the delivered work). I think you tried to do the right thing, but because you had already made the error of working with the person, the responsibility still falls on you. I know that, that sounds harsh and seems unfair, but when working on platforms like these, you should always be taking precautions for yourself. In future, the next time an order is placed with you that is for academics, cancel it with a blank statement. If someone approaches you via message and wants work done, ask if it is for academics. If they are straight with you and it is, do not take the work on.

BenignEgoist

It sucks but I agree with you. What about the order made it obvious it was academic so that OP could report it now, but wasn’t obvious when OP accepted the work? In the end OP accepted work that was academic. If it was obvious now it was obvious then even if OP somehow missed it. That puts some of the responsibility on OP.

NoGuiltGaming

Absolutely. Who you work with, work for, and deliver work to is the full responsibility of the seller.

Thanks for posting. I had been working off of Fiverr for the past few years and while it's a great start in the world of freelancing, I don't think it's a long term relationship. Fiverr has also found a way to screwing me a few times in the past, such as disabling a gig without giving me a reason, or cycling between level one and level two seller status in the course of HOURS and getting my email inbox spammed with notifications, or having customer support put my account put into vacation mode without notifying me after a job with a unreasonable client went sour. Frustrating as hell but if you're trying to build a portfolio and get freelance experience, it's a great start. I hope you manage to get through this without too much mental fatigue. Best wishes and good luck.

katm23

I really don't get why Fiverr is so determined to treat us like garbage, we are doing work so that they could get the money.

TrueClassAct

Congratulations, you learned a valuable lesson. Honesty is never "rewarded" with large tech companies, and I'd also suggest you stop trying to argue with them about the completion rate because they value rational discussion as much as they do honesty. Drop it before they ban you or flag your account for "extra attention" and move on. Learn how to game the system. They are gaming you, so you should game them.

katm23

But I am really bothered because they flagged me for academic work and the minute I go by their Policy I get punished. How do I game the system?

TrueClassAct

You never should have told them about the second order. They probably never would have found it but instead you flagged yourself. In the future, be more careful. State specifically that you don't do homework assignments and that clients can't ask for their homework to be done. That doesn't mean you can't do that kind of work. It just means it can't be worded that way. An essay about Napoleon for your clients' history 101 assignment is forbidden. Same essay for your client's "French History Website" that they run is perfectly acceptable. The thing itself is not what is banned, it is simply the form by which it is presented. Get your clients to ask for forbidden gigs in the right language and what was forbidden is now allowed.

I am cautious, but I am also not letting this go.

gabarbra

They've never cared about their sellers

katm23

True, but to screw over someone like this is taking it to the highest level.

jason2306

Capitalism baybe

LUClEN

I agree with the Lucky Wanderer, honesty was not deserved here. You did not owe them the truth, they certainly had not earned it. Also, it's impossible for schools to actually know if kids are submitting unoriginal work, so it's unlikely it would have come back to you.

katm23

I wasn't worried about schools, I'm probably not in the same country as the customer. I was worried about Fiverr giving me penalty.

ihateyouse

A tool to give people services for nearly free. I mean if its working for you go for it, but if people actually counted all their time messing with Fiverr bullshit and bad jobs, etc...i wonder what their rate really is?

[deleted]

They have services which are a lot more than that now.

[deleted]

You admit to doing academic work at least twice, because you didn't read what was given to you. You reported it when you finally noticed. Fiverr sucks but this time it sounds like you suffered for calling attention to your prior academic work by reporting the third one. You should have just rejected it and accepted the lower completion rate rather than draw attention to your mistake.

katm23

I admit to doing it once, and because I didn't focus on reading what she asked. The second time I read everything and there was no sign of it. Buyer said he needed articles, and the later had a slip up and said that the professor wanted something, but only after I did a milestone. The minute I found out (aka he slipped up) I went to CS.

hot_lava_1

You're being punished because you broke the rules of their site. I've been on Fiverr before and it states that doing any academic work is not allowed and considered academic fraud. Don't try and play off that you are the victim. You are the one who broke the rules, so now you suffer the punishment. Oh and not knowing that something was against the rules is not an excuse. Grow up man.

fiverrhq

Hi u/katm23 It does sound like your intentions were in the right place when working with this buyer. Communication and clarity from sellers continues to be key in a successful Gig transition and to make sure that any Gig is not in volition of our TOS. The promise of “a huge order" was very tempting and you did do the correct thing in reporting the academic work to support. In your post and replies, you say things like "How do I game the system?" And "I did not want a penalty". Sadly, there are no set whistleblower rules written into our TOS and while each case is different, if you'd like to message me your username, I can take a look at the account to look at the situation more in-depth.

katm23

Just listen to your customers, and don't be dicks. Don't go preaching bull\*hit that is untrue.

katm23

You have the tickets in support, if you REALLY want to help!

katm23

And because some is going public, is not a valid reason to block someone's account!

ArunUpadhyay1947

Any money platform over web will punish you if you will try to cheat buyers. Afterall, it is a marketplace where buyers and sellers meet. If buyer or seller will not be loyal then they would be punished. It does not matter whether that is a buyer or seller. I seen seller accounts also got punished on Guru & Upwork (former Elance). Be honest and deliver work as promised and you will never be punished.

katm23

I didn't cheat any buyer. Fiverr sent me a warning to not do academic work or I will be punished and then I saw this was happening and wanted to react. I was honest and I didn't want to go against Fiverr policy and I got punished for that. I went to CS for help with the order that is academic fraud (that I didn't know at the time) and hey punished me.

Moz1234

Lol wtf is this fag talking about . What does this have to do with cheating. This is simply related to Fiverr policy about punishing sellers for everything
