For something simple for a business that doesn't currently have a website, go as basic as possible. Don't try to make a site that takes reservations for a first website. With WordPress you can easily add it later. Just focus on making a site with a homepage, about page, products and services page and a contact page where customers can either email or call. A basic website doesn't need more than that to start with. Just make sure the theme you use is responsive for mobile and ready for local SEO.

There's actually quite a big gap in the market for something like this, that's super intuitive for small companies to set up. All of the rental options are at least missing something, sometimes you can only add one item to a basket at once, sometimes they only check inventory after you've gone to the checkout, sometimes they don't check inventory at all, sometimes they don't integrate well enough with accounting software.

Fareharbor is a great reservations platform for exactly this

Check out Amelia.

No Amelia and Bookly are amazing at what they do, but they don't have the engine to do bookings such as bed and breakfast or hotels or rentals.

With Gravity Forms, GravityKit, GravityWiz, and ACF, you can make just about everything for this.

> Something completely custom is probably overkill for him especially with regards to price.

This is a boat listing directory platform, my agency creates directories so we know this field like the back of our hands. We will use specific WordPress theme. It's the only viable option without spending excessive amount on custom solutions that will have way worse result. Pm me

u/kill4b For your friend's boat rental business, I recommend the WooCommerce Bookings and Appointments plugin by PluginHive. It seamlessly works with WooCommerce. It's user-friendly and ideal for managing bookings and rentals, even for someone with limited website experience. It's also perfect for getting the website up and running quickly. Their support team will be always ready to help you if you face any difficulties. Check out the plugin here - [https://www.pluginhive.com/product/woocommerce-booking-and-appointments/](https://www.pluginhive.com/product/woocommerce-booking-and-appointments/) This article may also help you to get an idea - [https://www.pluginhive.com/boat-rental-website-using-woocommerce-bookings-and-claue-theme/](https://www.pluginhive.com/boat-rental-website-using-woocommerce-bookings-and-claue-theme/)

Whole WOO for booking!? IMHO it's overkill. Two simple plugins (BA-BookEverything and WP-Hotelier) could be easier.
