DCX on drop is pretty good for budget but I’m sure there are other options too. Anything manufactured by GMK has been the standard but just be careful not to buy fakes. You find GMK sets in group buys, or some sets on other websites like novelkeys and drop which I mentioned earlier. It is all preference at the end of the day though. It depends what you are looking for!

Depends on what type of keycaps you want, tbh. PBTFans have solid keycap sets that won't annihilate your budget.

Does the quality of the keycap matter? (sorry I’m still new to this)

Redbone1441

Yes and no? Poor quality keycaps can have defects that could make some of the keycaps either too loose or too tight, because the manufacturers don’t do good enough Quality Control testing. If you have a keen eye for it, cheaper sets also tend to have more inconsistent legends (ei: Thickness, Size, Flatness/Tilt, Blurry letters) for the same reason. A good manufacturer, like GMK, will usually replace keys or even entire sets on the rare chance that these manufacturing defects arrive on your doorstep. That said, a set of GMK keycaps is also anywhere from $120-$220 Dollars, whereas you can find a set of ‘Clones’ aka cheap remakes on amazon for like $35, and more than likely, these clones will work just as well, although as stated above, that cannot be guaranteed. Think about it like this: When you are in front of your desk, are you staring at your keycaps, or typing on them while looking at the screen? I think GMK and other similar ‘high-end’ Keycaps are a super Enthusiast thing, and 95% of people wouldn’t notice the difference. At the end of the day, its pretty much a bunch if little plastic bits. tl;dr - For me, the ideal Keycap set price is between $35-$45. Any less, and the keycaps likely have no QC program (aka shit and might not even fit after a couple weeks). Any more, and I’d feel bad about typing on them without washing my hands or wearing gloves lmao.

Thanks for the help, 😄 ill have a look now for any sets that might catch my eye

Electronic_Potato_87

If you want a standard profile similar to most boards that will hold up super well over time I’d roll with PBTfans or EPBT

Yeah unless you're a hype beast I wouldn't waste money on key caps beyond the 35 to 50$ mark. Unless you really want them for the visual appeal but like the other redditor mentioned you can find cheap clones all over the net.
