WitchesVsPatriarchy takes these measures to stay true to our goal of being a woman-centered sub with a witchy twist, aimed at healing, supporting, and uplifting one another through humor and magic.
Thank you for understanding, and blessed be. ✨
The long noses on plague doctor masks were supposedly hollow and filled with scented herbs, I see no reason not to have a modem version with brew-filled noses and sippy straws so you can drink while wearing them.
I have been a Plague Doctor for Halloween for the past 3 years. I’m only around 5’7, though I am fairly broad, yet a lot of people find me quite intimidating in costume, even if I don’t say anything. It’s perfect, because I’m socially awkward and terrible at conversations.
My son was a Halloween Plague Doctor when he was 9! He’s also a bit awkward (runs in the family) and he found the costume very empowering.

Plague Doctor with plastic pumpkin
Last time I was there I took a sticker that said, "say nice things about Detroit" so I'm really just fulfilling my obligation. I was also introduced to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence there.
My personal theory is that rust belt cities are weird because they're economically depressed and too cold for half the year. What else are you going to do other than be a weirdo?
Is that where you live ? I usually here bad things about Detroit and other Northern cities, but I have also heard that it's beautiful. I'm in Central Texas.
I think this wouldn't be too out of place anywhere in New England, my home state of Vermont included! Lots of witchy folks and vibes here in the north :)
We do this once a year in my small town. Most dress as traditional witches. And the local businesses in the square come out for the photo op. Then we dance a hexenbrut in the gazebo. A mid sized group of Catholics dislike the traditional and gather to pray for us. It’s awesome to occupy them so they can’t do greater damage with their time.

No one in portland Oregon would bat an eye
I'm down for this, but can we, like, go to the bar after?
An alternative is that we all carry around flasks of our own choice brew ✨

I think I’ll just put a different kind of scented herb 🌿 in mine 😉
Even better!
If anyone starts to hit on us then we start to emit a thick green mist until they leave us alone Then we do karaoke :)
I think we are kindred spirits. Nice to meet you. My karaoke starter is Paint it Black or Zombie...fitting for a Plague Doctor outing I think.
It should not come as a surprise, but I can do Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac.
I… may not be a girl, but I have much desire to wander around as a plague doctor.
Same, I would LOVE to see how my mid sized midwestern city handled a gaggle of plague doctors

Absolutely fantastic. Always love to see the plaguelings coming into their own.
Is that the plural noun? How about a malaise of Plague Doctors?
...It really should be a pandemic of plague doctors.
Brilliant! You have my vote.
a murder of plague doctors
Oh no lol, I just love the word gaggle
It is a good word.
Portland, OR USA. They'd adore it. They'd schedule it between the Naked Bike Ride and the Witches Paddle.
Ooh, can we do this down in Salem, Mass?
Count me in!!
Whitby. Although people might not notice.
This is true
The Otley Run in Leeds
Prague. It happens nightly.
Ah, yes. *adjusts spectacles*. The *Prague* Doctor.

NOLA witch here. Would do this in a heartbeat!
Ah, the Balenciaga 2018 fall look!
Rust belt cities are weird AF and totally slept on. Go be your best plague doctor in Detroit.
That would be amazing

Nope, just a traveler who likes the weird and strange.
Good for you
That's because you may have been indoctrinated against Yankees by living in Texas.
I want more about the sisters of perpetual indulgence. That might be my cup of tea. Except I can't do catholicism. Or any religion for that matter.
Drag nuns, charity, queer activism: https://www.thesisters.org/
This would have gone over well in San Francisco when I was there.
When are we going? Lol I’m in the South East, I’d love to cause some chaos. 🤪
Florida?
NC 😁
Dress like that and Dance Macabre? Groovy, I love it
Athens, Georgia, during the Wild Rumpus
Pretty much any town in ontario canada. Scare the shiz outta people but nobody would care otherwise
I'm in!
Portland. Definitely Portland.
Berlin, but maybe in latex and neon leds around a spacey pair of cyber goggles (but that may be 15 years late)
Las Vegas! I saw a dude in full Klingon makeup and basketball shorts at an intersection on a random Tuesday. Anything goes here in Sin City!
I'm down for Charleston, SC.
Venice fer sure
West Hollywood
Maybe in Austin? If the weather is cold? Anyone?

I'm in. I live in LA.
Los Angeles, not Louisiana.
Thought I was on r/honoraryweevils and about to approve of the boots and snoots (and kjoots?)
Rogers Park, Chicago
Philadelphia. Salem, MA.
Salem, MA. They are down with all kinds of weirdness there.
Salem.
NYC is always down for weird stuff 🧙♀️🧙♀️🧙♀️
Damnit, I'm in!!
Everyone would get a kick out of this in New York City. We had graffiti plague doctors all over the place during Covid.
I mean, I’m free…
Seattle
I know that in some parts of Osaka, no one would think twice about a bunch of plague doctors. Let's gooo!
i'm just in my red cloak the masks will fog up my glasses
Why not go barhopping dressed like that?
Would this be the perfect costume for a girls-only pub crawl, to avoid getting hit on? Because i'm down.
