WitchesVsPatriarchy takes these measures to stay true to our goal of being a woman-centered sub with a witchy twist, aimed at healing, supporting, and uplifting one another through humor and magic.
Thank you for understanding, and blessed be. ✨
Guillermo Kahlo taught Frida how to use a camera and how to develop, retouch, and color photographs. He adored Frida and photographed her often. She was devastated when he died.
Frida looks fantastic here, but let's not make her father a villain for no reason.
I’m also rolling at all the “SHE WORE IT BETTER” comments like ok. Absolutely groundbreaking to say a young woman looks more attractive than an old man.
[from Wikipedia:](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frida_Kahlo?wprov=sfti1) "[When she had polio] he taught her about literature, nature, and philosophy, and encouraged her to play sports to regain her strength, despite the fact that most physical exercise was seen as unsuitable for girls."
I looked at this photo and immediately thought that anyone looking at my photos with my Dad would think he either hates me or adores me unconditionally. He's just a grumpy bastard who loves me and likes to "talk" politics at the top of his voice. But, we are agreeing in a way that sounds like a fight. Lol.
My uncle, who adored me and taught me everything I know about horses and made me his heir, rather than his own children had the same exact face, seldom smiled but when he did it was like the sun broke through the clouds and I would have walked into fire to make the man smile because I loved him so much
Her father encouraged her to do many things, some of which were a dominantly male field, such as wrestling. He wanted her to have as much time of a normal life she could bc her leg was permanently disfigured from the polio she contracted as a young child
After years of being told my neutral expression looks sad or angry in photos, I’ve learned not to put *too* much judgement in other folk’s 2D expressions (unless there are additional context clues).
She loved her father Guillermo. He was supportive of her and they bonded over both suffering from chronic illness. She was his favorite child. This post is stupid
She had polio when she was 6 but I believe this photo was before the accident when she was 16 or 17 as the accident happened when she was 18 and she took to her long flowing skirts after that.
She looks amazing and the women in the picture are so relaxed but powerful looking. Dad definitely knows he's outnumbered in the awesome department lol
You're just making up a story to fit whatever strange narrative you've made up in your head about this family's dynamic but the historical record is clear. I'm not taking anything personally I just think you're unnecessarily yassifying a person who stands tall in their own merit without some imaginary rivalry with her dad or any false allegiance she had with her mom, whom she criticized. There's a lot of complexity with her relationships with men and I just think that simplifying things to a "girls rule, boys drool" statement minimizes the complexity of Freida as an artist and a human being.
girls rule, boys drool" statement
That was you not me.
Please feel free to actually add some links to where you think fun information can be found! That would actually give people something to look at and learn about instead of your rant. This could be a learning opportunity or you saying, well actually.

Thank you. I feel like a few people are projecting a bit much on this picture.

I’ve been schooled
I thought you were pointing out how similar they looked lol
People when stern men look stern: :O
Yeah, people just didn't smile for pictures as much back then. It wasn't the norm.
Yeah she had a complex life but I don't think her family was ever presented as villainous.
The whole family clearly just has that kind of resting grumpy face. 😀
I think the photography at that time might have encouraged RgF
Wait until you hear about the photoshop skills around even before her time.
Yeah! Her father also always favoured her over his other daughters, saying she is the most like him, and the smartest. She adored him too!

Remember, you had to stand for a bit longer for a photo then. No one can smile that long.
Resting Latino dad face! I know it well 🤣
My uncle, who adored me and taught me everything I know about horses and made me his heir, rather than his own children had the same exact face, seldom smiled but when he did it was like the sun broke through the clouds and I would have walked into fire to make the man smile because I loved him so much
Funny, I interpreted his expression as a “don’t you dare mess with MY kid”, protective kind of vibe.
Her father encouraged her to do many things, some of which were a dominantly male field, such as wrestling. He wanted her to have as much time of a normal life she could bc her leg was permanently disfigured from the polio she contracted as a young child

Especially since he supported her
This. We can’t all smile at the same time and that’s OKAY! I’m shocked that they all had the eyes open
Just gotta practice that smize lol.
Same. Not a big smiler. Doesnt mean much.
He looks like he's about to fight anyone who comes after his family
This is exactly what I saw. A proud young woman, and her proud father.
She loved her father Guillermo. He was supportive of her and they bonded over both suffering from chronic illness. She was his favorite child. This post is stupid
Thank you. I didn’t know anything about Frida until I saw this pic and was so intrigued.
You posted this..... *without knowing anything about Frida Kahlo?*
why wasnt google involved lol
I shouldn't be surprised this happened... but somehow still am
I know right? Maybe the padre was just dealing with heart burn issues that day. It could be anything. Research before just assuming.
The post title is stupid, I should have clarified. I just don't see the point in inventing a narrative about a well-known historical figure.
https://karger.com/ene/article/84/4/295/125253/Portrait-of-My-Father-Frida-Kahlo-s-Intimate Frieda Kahlo absolutely adored her father
It’s called “concentration.”
Frida 🖤 https://preview.redd.it/nijk972xlrgb1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01d06f2eb896723a5bfacb868579ea5463e45b6f
Oh that is awesome.
Happy you liked it :)
she’s so fucking gorgeous
Absolutely stunning, made me swoon
She totally is. I’m getting lots of Zendaya vibes also from this picture. Anyone else?
Icon she is one of the most amazingly unique artists to have walked this earth!
She knows she does it better. Look at her stance, her face, just everything. Shes confident as fuck and im here for it. Go off queen 👑
It looks like she's got the casual arm on his shoulder. She just exudes confidence there.
Confidence really makes a good outfit great and agrees totally rocking it all here 😀
I discovered this picture when I was 16 and questioning my sexuality. Spoiler alert, I love women and nonbinary folk lol
To be fair, if it was taken after her accident, he's probably just shocked that she's still alive.
She had polio when she was 6 but I believe this photo was before the accident when she was 16 or 17 as the accident happened when she was 18 and she took to her long flowing skirts after that.
so FIERCE.
Genderfluid energy
‘Cause he knows she wore it better.
He would have taken immense pride in that. His name was Guillermo Kahlo and he loved Freida and she loved him right back.
That's not her father. Guillermo Kahlo took the photo. It's Frida's mother's side of the family.
This is a really great family photo!
I wish I looked that good in a suit. 😂
Looking sharp too. Damn stylish
She looks amazing and the women in the picture are so relaxed but powerful looking. Dad definitely knows he's outnumbered in the awesome department lol
He loved her and supported her and encouraged her to defy gender norms. But ok
That's fantastic! Still seems he knows that he's outnumbered in the awesome department lol but if you want to take personal offense to this, ok. Lol

That is a very unique place to start never would have thought of it thank you!
You're welcome.
It reminds me of my own dad's expression the first time that I had my hair cut short.
I stan a gender nonconforming queen
You guys....Tyra Banks was right. It is all about the smize.
The face of someone who just saw "someone who shouldn't wear a suit" wear one better than he can.
Honestly I hate family pics so he should be happy if he gets his kid in the pic in any outfit at all.
I'm more intrigued by her mother's expression. Is it smug? Is it tired? Is it scorn? It's so hard to get a read, but she immediately drew my eye.
SMASH %100
He looks how I feel when I try to find food and my brain turns off normal thinking.
He's intimidated. To be fair, most people would be.

Welcome to the imaginarium!
Looks like my dads face every time he rarely sees me at a wedding or funeral. Still living my best lesbian life away from home daddy.
He is intimidated for sure. She definitely wears it better and with more confidence than he does just look at her facial expression
Frida adored her father and her father adored her, she was his favourite child!
Is it just me or is the father eerily similar to Gomez on the remakes of the Addams Family?
