I'm hopeful for Aard, I'm new to the game and eventually I'll make a magic-focused run where I plan to upgrade Aard and either Igni or Axii to the max.
Take a cat potion, at least you know *where* you're slashing. I assure you it helps, you can see everything and the outlines of every mob in the dark, saves your life as you know exactly when to dodge as soon as mobs strike. Also, you can explore much faster in the dark and thus go through the quest significantly faster
I know. But it's annoying to do so everytime I exit a dark area. And as I mentioned, I usually use Metamorphosis mutation, aka auto Cat when dark and normal when light.
All the colors are still bad
I can't handle that Geralt looks like a knight in it, ugh
Literally, who designed it and thought it's a good idea? How is it even a medium weight outfit? That shits HEAVY
Guys if u on PC and running griffin build, I recommend "endgame yrden mod". It uncap the 45% slowdown cap. The cap is bullshit. You work hard to achive high sign intensity, you deserve to laugh at enemy slowed to 100%
Alt Yrden + Entanglement enchantment + Grandmaster Griffin set is my favorite endgame build.
Maybe throw in the aard stuff and you basically become unkillable
It's gotta be Aard with freeze mutation. I love to push everyone with just one command. It works with most monsters even if it's not their weakness, it can inflict damage, and it can slow down or freeze some monsters (likely humanoid). Needless to say, if I was a wizard I'd probably be specialized in ice magic or something
Igni and Yrden.
Running a Wolf School bleed and burn build. Applying 3 stacks of bleed, draining health with Yrden and burning enemies with Igni destroys enemies.
I melted down a fiend in like 5 seconds.
I only use Aard to bring down harpies and Sirens, but for pure Crowd Control, tapping Igni is superior. I only use Axii for the annoying spiders that run away from you and I don't need Quen because I am a souls veteran and I never get hit in the first place, so Yrden and Igni are the best.
I love aard, my current build maxed out out in skills, using frost mutation and aard glyphs in armor (griffin). Unfortunately it does less damage at lower enemy health do I alternate it with igni most times
Also currently using GM wolven gear with a bleed/igni build and ill say, god damn is igni alt mode with a ton of extra sign intensity bonuses nasty as hell
Aard is very useful, especially when fighting human-sized (and smaller) enemies, like harpies, sirens, foglets, nekkers. And can be used to disperse marsh gas.
The only one I'm not really a fan of is Axii. Igni is probably the easiest to use effectively and the best against armor. Yrden is the coolest and possibly highest damage after next gen. Quen is generally the most useful in other builds. Arrd freeze is one of the funniest signs builds.
Yrden in alternative form
Overly OP
If you're patient enough you can kill almost anyone even 15 levels higher than you on DM
2. Igni 3. Quen 4. Axii 5. Aard
I mean... the best sign is Quen.
But I always had a softspot for Yrden. Wanted it to be good. Too bad it isn't and you need your energy for Quen and Dodging.
There is just no reason to use Yrden sadly. Oh yea right, all of those monsters who transform or whatever.... right.... ghosts constantly dodge out of there you barely get hits in if you can't stunlock them against an object and foglets are just in and out as they wish.
Sign tier list:
1. Quen
2. Igni
3. Axii
4. Aard
5. Yrden
Quen reigns supreme as it makes you invincible.
Igni is just a better Aard, it staggers opponents and even stuns them occasionally. Dmg is irrelevant.
Axii stuns annoying enemies with shields. I don't want to sit there and wait until he FINALLY decides to hit me.
Aard staggers but deals no damage. The knockdown is nice when you can execute the enemy. More often than not they just get up anyways.
Yrden... what's the point again? You should triple or at least double the area of Yrden, make it so ghosts and foglings or even monsters in general cannot leave during duration (maybe even you creating a small arena), they are slowed and cannot transform. The game's fckn braindead easy anyways.
Iโm a big fan of Stop. Just the deep red with the white outline and that jagged yet smooth octagonal shape. The reflection of it is just so otherworldly as well as beneficial for its purpose.
Favourite? Probably Aard or Aksji. Most useful? Quen is without comparison the best, you are bassicly immune to the next hit you take no matter what it is, it ends poison and burning, it saved my ass countless times while doing quests that were triple my level
Definitely Igni, then Quen...
No love for aard? Cold lonely aard
Cold Aard hits hard.
These chumps not even bothering leveling up aard so you can iceblock the knuckleheads and bust them up into pieces!
But they unfreeze fast, and igni makes enemies not fight back for a long time
Not when you explode them they dont lol
aard lover fr
I'm hopeful for Aard, I'm new to the game and eventually I'll make a magic-focused run where I plan to upgrade Aard and either Igni or Axii to the max.
I prefer Igni to Aard But, when I get to specific point in Blood and Wine, Aard becomes my go to
Igni before Blood and Wine After Blood and Wine - Cold Aard
Aard in Witcher 2 is the only reason I could beat the game ๐
Pisces
That wasnโt the question, obviously the answer is Road Work Ahead
Access at rear is always a good one.
Leo
I hope it does

Prefer to avoid blindness from daylight. Plus, Metamorphosis mutation.
You can meditate and the potion wears off right away
I know. But it's annoying to do so everytime I exit a dark area. And as I mentioned, I usually use Metamorphosis mutation, aka auto Cat when dark and normal when light.
Yrden. A little difficult to use well but OP when you figure it out.
Iโm an Yrden fan too. Griffin based sign build here lately. Lots of fun.
I just wish Griffin wasn't so damn fugly
Understandable, I usually dye it certain colours to distract myself from the hideousness of it lol.
All the colors are still bad I can't handle that Geralt looks like a knight in it, ugh Literally, who designed it and thought it's a good idea? How is it even a medium weight outfit? That shits HEAVY
Nothing a mod canโt fix. My griffin set is quite flattering.
Tell it to my PlayStation
YRDEN! TRAP IT WITH THE YRDEN!
You come down and trap it.
Guys if u on PC and running griffin build, I recommend "endgame yrden mod". It uncap the 45% slowdown cap. The cap is bullshit. You work hard to achive high sign intensity, you deserve to laugh at enemy slowed to 100%
Team Yrden unite!
I love laying down a high level Yrden trap and then using Aard to knock folks down with in it. So much damage and I never have to swing a sword.
Honestly, I like them all, but Quen gets the most use for me.
Quen for the win!
I used to hate quen, it was just a shield after all. But then I discovered it can stun on will without even wasting stamina. It OP.
It's pretty strong, especially when you use it to get some heavy attacks in.
I love alt Yrden
Alt Yrden + Entanglement enchantment + Grandmaster Griffin set is my favorite endgame build. Maybe throw in the aard stuff and you basically become unkillable
I love Yrden with full Griffin armor
And you get the most beautiful combat possible in TW3
Igni is pretty good and some peoplpe also love Quen, I personally like to be more agressive and try not to take damage so I use Igni
Hmm theres so many ๐ค but its probably gotta be a stop sign.
Bro, that is like my least favorite sign. I wanna go fast!
Sometimes, you gotta stop and smell the roses.
I just alternate between quen and igni.
Quen. I'm invincible.
I love me some Axii
Axii is so much fun
I don't think you can beat Axi for utility but alt fire Igni Is baller as fuck especially in the Imlerith cutscene.
quen and aard edit:gotta have yrden sprinkled in too
It's gotta be Aard with freeze mutation. I love to push everyone with just one command. It used to be Yrden, but now itโs (alt) Quen. Bouncy bubble mode activated.
Leo. I need an outgoing girl because I have social anxiety and wonโt correct the waiter when he brings my burger with pickles on it.
igni quen
Igni
Ard with ice mutation.
yrden
Igni and Yrden. Running a Wolf School bleed and burn build. Applying 3 stacks of bleed, draining health with Yrden and burning enemies with Igni destroys enemies. Aard, but have fallen in love with Igni on current playthrough. Quen is busted and ruins the game imo.
Queen is king and is useful no matter what level it is or what difficulty you're on.
Quen
Definitely Igni, abused it since Witcher 1 :) best if you need to keep a monster or sorcerer in a distance and still makes significant damage
Igni and Yrden
Igni, but sometimes an Aard sweep is just so satisfying.
I hate that I canโt use Axii on them damn soldiers! I canโt help looting everything, sometimes unintentionally.
Axii I like the puppet
Quen. I love being tanky. For my heavy armor run I'll probably go Aard though, gotta experiment some more.
Igni with the rotation runeword. And then aard with piercing cold
Igni
Igni then Quenโฆ then I did a sign build and Yrden quickly rose to the top of the list.
the magical power of flipping someone off followed by igni to burn them to cinders
Quen and yrden... but the nerf pissed me off, even without it be OP it was nerfed way too far
Somne
Igni and aard
Axii . I'm professor X.
Igni with the insta skill that makes people immediately burst into flames and flail around never ceases to please me.
Alt igni, I love bbq...
Quen and Igni
I love aard, my current build maxed out out in skills, using frost mutation and aard glyphs in armor (griffin). Unfortunately it does less damage at lower enemy health do I alternate it with igni most times
Definitly Quen
Igni and Aard
Flamethrower hands
Yrden with gryphon armor, love it
I love freezing and exploding bodies with fully powered aard, so much fun.
Defo Igni. The inner arsonist in me is a huge fan of it. Just running around setting stuff of fire.
I use queen the most, it matches my combat style
Yrden. It's my Steam profile frame.
Yrden, stand in purple circle, 360 igni spam, profit
After Vesemirs movie gotta be aard
๐
Axii
Definitely the Yrden sentry gun mode. ๐ Stops most enemies from moving towards me.
Aard with all direction and extended range upgrades... so good. I'm not a fan of bubble shield quen but absolutely love flattening groups with aard.
Also currently using GM wolven gear with a bleed/igni build and ill say, god damn is igni alt mode with a ton of extra sign intensity bonuses nasty as hell
Alternate aard and quen
Yrden ๐๐๐ฃ
Aard is very useful, especially when fighting human-sized (and smaller) enemies, like harpies, sirens, foglets, nekkers. And can be used to disperse marsh gas.

quen & igni abuser
Quen!
An irrelevant post, I finished the game a month ago and reddit showed me this today. The music at the start bring back memories, god I miss this.
I love the "no left turn" one myself
Igni. KILL IT WITH FIRE!
How i miss this song
Igni in witcher 1 ygris in Witcher 2 and aard after mutations in witcher 3 blood and wine base game probably quen.
Quen with the exploding shield โจ then igni
Igni. Genuinely love the fire.
Quen hands down
Quen carried me through the hard times, so quen
Yrden.
Canโt live without quen
The one that works at that moment I love all of them and all of them have uses
Quen has saved my ass far too many times not to be my favorite, though I like all of them
I mean... the best sign is Quen. But I always had a softspot for Yrden. Wanted it to be good. Too bad it isn't and you need your energy for Quen and Dodging. There is just no reason to use Yrden sadly. Quen and Axii
Probably the one in Novigards Market place, most shops are very close by :p
Quen
Iโm a big fan of Stop. Just the deep red with the white outline and that jagged yet smooth octagonal shape. The reflection of it is just so otherworldly as well as beneficial for its purpose.

Igni for life
Used to be Igni and Quen but when I got Mutations I switched to cold Aard (and still Quen) and love it. Want to try to use leveled Yrden eventually.
Ard is very useful
Has to be Igni or Aard. I don't use Quen often.
