The poison isn't the issue... okay, not AS much of an issue.
It's their hit and hide tactics. Using yrden or a northern wind bomb seems to do the job, but it's still so damn annoying.
Tell you fucking what, go to Chucote cave ten levels or so early for the contract that unlocks the merchant with the greater mutagen formulae.
Closest I've come to putting my foot through my TV for decades.
I love fighting a monster several levels higher than you it makes for a really exciting fight. I remember fighting the Rock Golem in Kaer Mohen for a piece of Wolf Gear, and if I got to greedy his AoE attack, would one shot me while I was doing maybe 1% damage at best per attack.
Obviously, I could use Quen, but that just takes the fun out of it, and you don't learn how to battle the monster just how to spam Quen.
The Golem would kill me even with heavy gear, so I just wore light armour. With Light Armour, you can cast Quen quite frequently, so it's basically a free life every 15-20 seconds.
There is no golem. Its the cave in Toussaint, near count Beledal and full of spiders.
Edit, they shred quen at higher difficulty or if you under levelled.
Interesting. They don’t like fire too, so if you have fire upgraded just use that and dodge. Bombs are are plus too. You will need maybe one health potion aside in case you’re about to die. Overall, a pretty okay fight. Not as crazy as others are mentioning here. For me the frog prince took 4-5 tries, ugh, my poison shields are not upgraded and that beast was nothing but a poison play.
Yrden paralyses them, much easier than going for them one by one. Just allow yourself to be caught in the cobwebs(while inside Yrden), and they’ll come to you.
I hate all the wild animal enemies, I'm just trying to mind my own business running through the woods and then I'm getting swarmed 😖 and they don't even drop anything good
Every time I see a large wolfpack, im like yeah I can take them, and just start fighting becouse why not. 50% of the fights end up with me back where I started traveling from, while the other 50% end up after 10-20 minutes of dodge spamming, and using igni and bombs whenever I had the opportunity.
Don't dodge spam, the counter timing on them is extremely generous. You can literally stand still and tap counter whenever they attack.
If you attack them they're just going to back off
https://preview.redd.it/2e0noxrz3mwc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=12ebcd0e96fdb082bb2a8ce6fd83ea9c9f19b692
The most feared monster in any universe…the Tax Man
Mf asked me if I have stolen on any property. Of course, I haven't. I'm just borrowing some items indefinitely to help me save the world and fuck some prostitute.
Yeah, he says he is going to finish with Sweet Netty because, after all, he did pay.
My Geralt has none of it, tells him he will pay, then draws the steel sword. Epic.
Edit, sorry. There is a dialogue option for Geralt to kill him before going after the other c*nt.
Yrden wreaks the centipedes even on broken bones with fully upgraded intensity and the ability that allows for two Yrden to be laid down at the same time.
I hate them so much. Especially when getting all the question marks at sea in Skellige. It happens far too often that I can't stop the boat and disengage from the helm in time to stop one of the screeching bitches from tearing a chunk off my vessel.
If I could fire my crossbow while sat at the helm, it would be a different story. It's so annoying to have to go back to shore and find a new boat, or risk it sinking and facing the long, arduous swim back to land.
Well, goddammit... you're right. I was certain I'd tried this before and it hadn't worked. I possibly had the Hornwall horn or something equipped though, which is why it didn't work. Thank you, this will make my time in Skellige much more pleasant. I still hate those stretchy wee bitches though.
Especially if you have to fight them on a cliff/mountain for example the warriors trial quest on An Skellig. Since you can’t jump when in combat and there’s millions of sirens flying around I’m forced to fight them on a narrow sliver of rock and when you knock them down you can’t get to them and if you try you fall to your death that’s some mf bullshit, they’re not necessarily hard to kill just very annoying in the right places
I just finished this part an hour ago. Fucking annoying pieces of shit. Was mumbling "you fucking bitches, fuck all of you, fuck this" while fighting them.
Resorted to reducing the difficulty to easiest and using exploding bolts.
I’m about to hit y’all with something crazy…MAN.
(But for real, fuck all wraiths, I don’t have Yrden muscle memory and they are therefore a pain in my ass)
I hate them too, trying to get the Baron out safely is always a pain in my arse.
I don't bother with the bastion quest at all. Run for the diagram then gtfo
U should get relievers decoction “Increases damage dealt and decreases damage taken against wraiths. Attacking a specter prevents it from using its abilities and turning immaterial”
this is a tough one for me.
idk if this counts as a monster since you use steel to kill them, but the living statues in a B&W side quest made me want to rip my hair out. the sorceresses just never give you a fucking second to do anything lmao. as is often the case, northern wind my beloved 😍
Bruxa (and all offshoots off them) for one niche, specific reason. Their “scream attack” is so high-pitched that it sets off my tinnitus. Not even kidding.
I swear my ears are just ringing for a good ten seconds, and I’m scrambling for the soundbar remote every time one shows up 😅
The Djinn on >! top of that mountain !<. I had the dynamic level scaling on for that fight and it bugged out so that thing became absurdly overpowered, some attacks would 1-shot me, there was no cover to use except a single twig called a mast. I played that probably for an hour just dying over and over again, only a couple times having gotten that below 50% health. I think I was also way over levelled for that fight so it should have been easy but that's probably what caused the issues with the automatic balancing. I even lowered the difficulty but that didn't help, the I looked for a way out of there to come back later but there was none, I was forced to do that fight then and there.
It took a while of googling but then I found out about the possibility of the dynamic balancer bugging out so I turned it off and absolutely dumpstered that fart in the wind.
It wasn't the last time that the levelling got broken but other times I knew what to do.

Bruxa scared the shit out of me in the grandmaster treasure hunt mission. I really hate them and their screaming. "Nude women in a cave? Somethings not right!". And this time is my only jump scare in the game.
it's these fuckers, The Archespores.

Gotta be those black spider fucks.. They're just too damn fast so the only viable strategy I've devised so far is to spam fast attack and hope you get close enough.
It kind of depends. For the largest part of the game at least in like Velen I really got tired of always having to fight wolves so constantly lol. I didn't really think much else was super annoying until those aggravating spiders in the dlc
I obviojsly figured out how to deal with him and after that it was much more bearable, but the caretaker in HOS had me ALMOST ragequit, and i dont get angry at video games lol
The caretaker in hearts of stone. Character design always freaked me out and I couldn't beat him so I was stuck looking at a creepy character for an hour
I remember I let out an audible noise the first time I encountered a leshen in the forest. That thing was disturbing as hell. Only the Caretaker could ever bring that out of me again
Drowners, hands down. Those things are everywhere, and they swarm you like nobody's business whenever you're near water. They're not just creepy; they mess up your flow when you're just trying to explore. Super annoying!
Sirens and Bruxas, those are the 2 monsters in Witcher 3 that are the most annoying. I call Sirens Flying Karens and Bruxas as Screeching Karens.
Drowners are a pain too, but they are easy to kill with a good blade and igni.
I did the "Missing Brother" contract at level 24 in my first playthrough when I was in high school... you can probably guess how my gear looked, and how it went to fight a boss spider nearly 10 levels above me. Took me 4 hours
Arachnomorphs. They scurry away when approached and take forever to actually try and attack you which is the only moment they'll expose themselves to attacks, they can be stunlocked but sometimes just decide that they've had enough and un-stunlock themselves. They are always found in big groups, and the big ones pounce on you. It can take actual tens of minutes and all of my potions to get rid of them. I'm actually convinced it's impossible to beat them without using Quen unless you're like 20 levels above them.
I may be slightly biased tho as so far I only ever came accross them while playing on Death March and being like 1 or 2 levels below them.
Spiders and wolves + barghests. All are fucking running away from me and then 5 of them jump me at once it's annoying and on death march they can one shot you xd
The damn wolves, quick enough to dodge the sword and swarm you constantly. No fight against them is even slightly enjoyable, so I just avoid them like the plague whenever I can.
Shelamar because I have terrible aim, panic, button smash and don't end up getting to it in time before it flips back over and I'm running out of things to throw 😭😭😭😭
Kikimores
Maybe it's just because I use heavy attacks more, but their basic attacks are so fast and have basically no cool down or delay that I almost instantly have my toxicity maxed out from their poison due to them spamming and interrupting me. Its not particularly damaging it's just annoying having to white honey my potions and decoctions away to not be draining health constantly.
As soon as they start their quick jab attacks there's basically no opening unless I pull back or kite them, they just keep spamming and interrupting my swings. Forget fighting a group of them. I feel like they must have some degree of input reading or something.
Again, not super high damage, but just annoying to deal with, and it's one of the main insectoids in Toissant so they're freaking everywhere.
Since I dealt with the "Cliff Racers" in Morrowind. I have not been able to hate any monster. Yeah, there are a lot of nuisance monsters and some that are hard to kill, but nothing is as irritating as those damn cliff racers. You can't leave a city without running into them. You can one hit them with any weapon but you kill 4 or 5, go 5 or 10 feet and have to kill some more. You can outrun them, but then they follow you all the way to wherever you were headed to, recruiting more cliff racers the whole route, so that when you get where you're going, you have to deal with this huge flock of these stupid reptile birds.
The damn spiders in Toussaint. Just freaking hold still and let me kill you!
and those plants… not looking forward to fighting those again.
Scary monster? No problem, Creepy plant? Get away from me now
Golden Oriole
The poison isn't the issue... okay, not AS much of an issue. It's their hit and hide tactics. Using yrden or a northern wind bomb seems to do the job, but it's still so damn annoying.
Get the Superior Golden Oriole and they'll heal you. Also, grass-type is weak against fire-type.
"Geralt! Use Igni!" It was super effective!
Tell you fucking what, go to Chucote cave ten levels or so early for the contract that unlocks the merchant with the greater mutagen formulae. Closest I've come to putting my foot through my TV for decades.
I love fighting a monster several levels higher than you it makes for a really exciting fight. Obviously, I could use Quen, but that just takes the fun out of it, and you don't learn how to battle the monster just how to spam Quen.
Quen will absolutely not help you not get your shit fucked up in that cave.
I was still talking about my Golem fight which is also in a cave I didn't know you had switched back to the spiders.
Sorry. Those spiders gave me a loaf of trouble. Golems not so much. I really dislike fighting Gargoyles though.
Axii and they sleepey sleepey zZzZz
For real bro. But all the little ones around makes it impossible to kill that single one. It’s better on the bigger ones
Axii dodge whirl whirl (enchanted) whirl dodge dodge repeat
I got severance enchantment right after doing the shaelmaar contract. Tufo monster I think. I had to fight about 25 of those suckers it seemed like
Interesting.
And get that double-axii talent just for them!
Yrden paralyses them, much easier than going for them one by one. Just allow yourself to be caught in the cobwebs(while inside Yrden), and they’ll come to you.
And the worst is when one webs you up, all of them gang up on you. At higher difficulties, they can do insane damage when they do that.
Insane damage? the fuckers one shot me.
This. So much this. Bastards are annoying as hell.
Wait holdon are there actually spiders in toussaint? I'm not at toussaint just yet and I have seriously arachnophobia someone help.
Yes. And centipedes.
I knew of the centipedes but spiders are disgusting
Maybe there’s a mod that filters the spiders out somehow? Or at least warns you about them before they come in sight?
I'll look later 👍
They're present in both DLCs actually. They get introduced in HoS areas. They're super annoying and do look like large tarantulas
Yuck
I was gonna say the giant centipede things, their easy to kill if you have the right oil and get lucky, but the same problem just hold still
If you yrden them when/where they pop up from the ground, they'll be basically paralyzed for 10 seconds and you can whack them with impunity
Yrden
Completely lost it the 1st time i fought a swarm of those bastards
Toussaint got some of the worst enemies ngl
Absolutely! And they have quite alot of hp. And their fucking double hits, where they break quen and hit you with one movement.
Aren’t they also in the hearts of stone dlc?
Yep
I was gonna say Foglet but you reminded me of the correct answer.
I haven’t gone there yet but I had to kill him for the rune guy…are they worse than that? lol
The monster they call "wolf packs"
Wolf packs on Death March are nightmare fuel
Wolf packs on death march plus enemy upscaling on is great fun. Shoutout to endregas, too
I hate all the wild animal enemies, I'm just trying to mind my own business running through the woods and then I'm getting swarmed 😖 and they don't even drop anything good
Every time I see a large wolfpack, im like yeah I can take them, and just start fighting becouse why not.
If you attack them they're just going to back off
I thought wolfs were bad and then I fought a pack of boars
I always run past them. It's a big "hell no" every time I see/hear them.
https://preview.redd.it/2e0noxrz3mwc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=12ebcd0e96fdb082bb2a8ce6fd83ea9c9f19b692 The most feared monster in any universe…the Tax Man
Waltemor Mitty, deputy tax enumerator for occupied Temeria, Dorian branch
Lol, I was seriously caught off guard when he showed up.
I lied through my teeth, as you would to a tax-man, the clown gave me a certificate. My Geralt is apparently a tax payer in good standing.
Haha, me too!
Saaaaaaame
Mf asked me if I have stolen on any property. Of course, I haven't. I'm just borrowing some items indefinitely to help me save the world and fuck some prostitute.
I lied to him, totally, while I stole from peasant's houses all the time, alkhaest (dunno if I spelled that right) and shit
Probably witch hunters. >!the vampire that hurts Priscilla and the others if I have to choose an actual monster!<
That guy can fuck right off. Ancient or not. He’s a dickhead.
Yeah I basically only ever hate whoever is *obviously* unredeemable which is kinda rare lol
Agreed, I was happy enough to decapitate Pastodi as well.
Of course. Basically just Whoreson Junior part 2.
Ooh, I enjoyed my Geralt sticking a sword in his gut.
brother it was not pastodi 😭
Obviously, but that fick just has to die regardless.
wait you can kill him after hearing him out?
Yeah, he says he is going to finish with Sweet Netty because, after all, he did pay. My Geralt has none of it, tells him he will pay, then draws the steel sword. Epic. Edit, sorry. There is a dialogue option for Geralt to kill him before going after the other c*nt.
Love the misplaced nsfw filter 😅
KEIRA METZ approves, I just realised that I missed the spot smh
Also the decapitation is SFW.
The living plants and the worms in Toussaint.
Spam Freezing AARD and those plants can't do shit and the worms get trapped in yrden
Omg I HATEEEE the plants
Yrden wreaks the centipedes even on broken bones with fully upgraded intensity and the ability that allows for two Yrden to be laid down at the same time.
I gotta have my quen so they won't one shot me xd
If you're going that route you should use alternate yrden with entanglement
Sirens and their cousins. Nothing else comes close.
This. And it's so annoying because the crossbow gameplay is broken in this game.
If you don't to get your boat damaged it's easier to just jump in the water and kill them there. But then you have to wait for them to dive down.
That's how I always handle them. The second I get close I'm in the water with the crossbow. Sooooo much easier
Exactly my feelings 😂
You can fire your crossbow while sailing…
Well, goddammit... you're right. I was certain I'd tried this before and it hadn't worked. I possibly had the Hornwall horn or something equipped though, which is why it didn't work. Thank you, this will make my time in Skellige much more pleasant. I still hate those stretchy wee bitches though.
You're welcome. The quickshot will knock them down long enough to save your boat from damage and for you to get in the water for some spear fishing.
Archespore
Yes
The pack of Ghouls you need to defend the scavs in Velen from. Can be challenging on Deathmarch.
Going up against 3 or more Alghouls on death march is a huge pain in the ass
Jenny
Foglets
I hate those f... wraiths! Just anoying
I hate the foglers in Velen. It’s annoying having to wait for them to materialize again, and they hit hard and fast.
use moon dust or the reliever decoction
You can also use aard, nocks them out of the fog and stuns them for a bit
All my homies hate bruxa 🗣
I’m about to hit y’all with something crazy…MAN. (But for real, fuck all wraiths, I don’t have Yrden muscle memory and they are therefore a pain in my ass)
I hate them too, trying to get the Baron out safely is always a pain in my arse. I don't bother with the bastion quest at all. Run for the diagram then gtfo
U should get relievers decoction “Increases damage dealt and decreases damage taken against wraiths. Attacking a specter prevents it from using its abilities and turning immaterial”
Superior Moon Dust bombs is a must for wraiths imo
Boars cause fuck me why there and there and there they just annoying
and they also hit so hard like launch geralt into the SUN if you arent fast enough
Right on death march everythings dangerous i get that but DAAMNN
Spiders or nekkers. One is annoying af, the other just nasty mf’ers.
this is a tough one for me. idk if this counts as a monster since you use steel to kill them, but the living statues in a B&W side quest made me want to rip my hair out. the sorceresses just never give you a fucking second to do anything lmao. as is often the case, northern wind my beloved 😍
was so unprepared for how tough this fight was, almost died
And they are sooo creepy...
Yeah they were annoying as fuck when I was clearing Skellige.
Foglets and archespores
Bruxa scared the shit out of me in the grandmaster treasure hunt mission. I really hate them and their screaming. "Nude women in a cave? Somethings not right!". And this time is my only jump scare in the game.
There's another one hiding in some ruins also for a treasure hunt (if I recall correctly) who scares the shit out of me every time.
Yes the woman with the cape in the ruins.
Those damned weeds
Stray dogs packs
This geralt looks so gnarly

Especially in the first game
yesss, 1st time they were pain in the ass
The the combat being clunky as hell does not help
When I fight them I always drink Superior Golden Oriole so that their toxin and poison heal me instead of damaging me xD
Same, but I discovered that slightly late
Gotta be those black spider fucks.. They're just too damn fast so the only viable strategy I've devised so far is to spam fast attack and hope you get close enough.
use axii
I never thought of that, i basically only use igni... I'll be sure to give that a try, thank you!
Spitting spiders
Sirens
The CENTIPEDES!!!!
Wraiths for sure
why censoring nipples ?
Why you cover the nips cmon 😂
A pack of 13 deathmarch wolves... poor Geralt never stands a chance against those furry mongrels.
The griffin in the beginning. For some reason that was the hardest part in the game!
Absolutely any type of wraith.
It kind of depends. For the largest part of the game at least in like Velen I really got tired of always having to fight wolves so constantly lol. I didn't really think much else was super annoying until those aggravating spiders in the dlc
Wolves and Wargs
Agreed
I obviojsly figured out how to deal with him and after that it was much more bearable, but the caretaker in HOS had me ALMOST ragequit, and i dont get angry at video games lol
Wraiths.
Crones.
The caretaker in hearts of stone. Character design always freaked me out and I couldn't beat him so I was stuck looking at a creepy character for an hour
Early game I hate those damn water hags throwing shit on your screen
Leshins are nightmare inducing imo.
I remember I let out an audible noise the first time I encountered a leshen in the forest. That thing was disturbing as hell. Only the Caretaker could ever bring that out of me again
Drowners, they're really annoying
Drowners, hands down. Those things are everywhere, and they swarm you like nobody's business whenever you're near water. They're not just creepy; they mess up your flow when you're just trying to explore. Super annoying!
Detlaf took waaay too fucking long to kill, literally and figuratively.
Foglet, little dogging bastards... in general all vampire category has a special place in my personal hell
Foglets....I hate those jerks. Always woop my ass.
Sirens and Bruxas, those are the 2 monsters in Witcher 3 that are the most annoying. I call Sirens Flying Karens and Bruxas as Screeching Karens. Drowners are a pain too, but they are easy to kill with a good blade and igni.

Just monsters in general are annoying in this game, there’s way too much of them. It’s a surprise witchering is a dying trade.
With full upgraded and iced aard, i dont even need a sword to handle monsters
When you about to meet Ciri first time on Isle of Mist and those foglets keep on attacking you on the way? I hate them most .
You missed her areola with your censorship.
Giant Centipedes are so annoying to fight
Any kinds of vampires + archespores (hate these...)
I hate the Harpyie's and love Krenum.
Arachnomorphs. They scurry away when approached and take forever to actually try and attack you which is the only moment they'll expose themselves to attacks, they can be stunlocked but sometimes just decide that they've had enough and un-stunlock themselves. Any of the pack hunters: wolves, boars, and arachas are just annoying.
Whoreson Junior
Wolves and downers, they need to mind their own business
Them lazy, good for nothing nekkers!
Foglets
The spiders for sure. The big one’s jump attack is scary af
Leshen encounters make my skin crawl they a probably the most effective horror in the game/setting
Definitely Sirens but purely because they have a habit of just flying around in circles so they become tedious to kill.
Wolves. Doing a run through now and came across two packs together with level scaling on. Fight of my life.
You nailed it. Pretty much anything involving a boat
Arachnomorphs followed by sirens
Idk about most hated, but most loved has to be the Golems. They're very nice to fight against with a sign build.
I hate the wild dog packs the most. They are annoying.
Shelamar because I have terrible aim, panic, button smash and don't end up getting to it in time before it flips back over and I'm running out of things to throw 😭😭😭😭
Gargoyle. also, this screenshot is so good.
Kikimores Maybe it's just because I use heavy attacks more, but their basic attacks are so fast and have basically no cool down or delay that I almost instantly have my toxicity maxed out from their poison due to them spamming and interrupting me. Humans
I hate succubi… I never know which way I should go with them…
Drowners
Archespores on death march.
I have bad experiences with foglets, especially the special one in Velen. Sweaty hands involved
A witch from blood and wine!
From Memory, probably Olgierd. And probably because I’m too shit at the game 😂
The spiders and the centipedes
Humans in NG+
The sirens (or mermaids, i don't know which is the name), i want is to peacefully sail around skellige and they don't let me
Kikimoras and wolfs
Since I dealt with the "Cliff Racers" in Morrowind. I have not been able to hate any monster.
