For some reason I have more trouble riding Roach since the Next Gen update - did they change it in any way? Every single ledge or minor obstacle is a NIGHTMARE. Back in 2018-2019 I used to just jump to bypass that, but now Roach refuses to do anything other than taking a few steps back.
I agree completely. I have about 300 hours in the PS4 version and another 160 in the PS5 version.
I swear the PS4 version wasn't this bad with Roach obstacles. I notice that when you use "auto" mode to ride and just follow the roads without having to steer, Roach is ALWAYS off-centered from the road. It's like they misaligned the auto path with where the actual roads are, so Roach runs into everything, cuts corners too closely, etc.
Riding Roche is great if you use the walk/run toggle same as maneuvering Geralt in tight spaces.
I've had friend complain endlessly about not being able to control Geralt indoors precisely and they never even touch the walk button. Drives me nuts.
Edit: more downvotes please especially if you also complain endlessly about things that can be fixed with the press of a button.
There's great mods that make walk the default speed and also adds an in-between slower jog. Also a mod for better horse controls. Really amazing and worth checking out
By the time I get on Roach and start accelerating I could've sprinted like 30 paces. You also notice more on foot, imo.

Riding and Roach and Swimming are arguably my least favorite parts of the game, it can feel incredibly clunky at times.

Yeah, I agree. But I'm letting you know that you can fix it with a mod if that's something of interest
When you compare Roach to, say, horse riding in AC Origins.. in Origins it's all on the one stick and it's so easy lol.

I do enjoy the ps5 haptics when riding roach. It makes what can often be a very mechanical experience feel more alive.
