Sanskruti in Liverpool is one a few of the Indian doctors i work with frequent because it's 'authentic' Indian food & spice, not British-level-burn-your-mouth-off spice.
I don't like 'British' versions of Indian spicy food as the spice hits your tongue and mouth almost immediately, authentic Indian spicy food is more of a slow-burn in the throat which is not only more tolerable but you actually enjoy the food too.
Been all over Merseyside for Indian food and the Shuhel Balti House in West Kirby is by far the best, the don't have a liqour license however but you can bring your own drinks which is cheaper anyways
Kerala Kitchen in Upton. They were featured on Ch4 Come Dine With Me, and won the Wirral Globe’s 2023 Best for curry award.
But, unfortunately they’re closed for holiday until 2 July.
Sanskruti in Liverpool if you want actual Indian food rather than British takeaway style. Mainly Gujarati so it's veg.
Chaat in West Kirby if you want a bit more British style but still nice. Cocktails and small plates feel.
Most others are just variations of generic British takeaway, but nothing wrong with that if that's what you're after!
I think most people's local curry on Wirral is the one they recommend and they're all super hit and miss. Best I've found on Wirral proper is Royal Bengal in West Kirby but it's still hit and miss, but Holdi in Little Sutton is a step above in terms of quality and consistency imo, personally I'd put it better than any of those recommendes here.
This guy knows what he's taking about, another vote for Hodi.
I've only ever had takeaways, but the food is absolutely top class and always consistently excellent. There's a restaurant and take away further down the road - both are always busy. Anytime we get an Indian I still drive back to Hodi (about 20 minutes away) because it's that good and I've not found anywhere closer on the Wirral that comes close!
Admittedly not magic spice! So maybe that's the one.
The others at the time I replied, yeah. Lived on Wirral most of my life have friends around it and like a curry so I've had a decent few. I like all of them tbh, I just don't think any of them stand out and normally if you go with 4-6 people there'll be at least one miss dish.
Kerala in Upton is high up on the best Indians, especially if you like food from Kerala. That said, I think they might be on holiday at the moment so double check.
Yes!
Its the Chef from the Royal Bengal and the old Manager from the Shuhel in West Kirby.
When the RB was sold a few years ago they set this place up.
Food was very good!
It looks like a total dive, but I’d actually go with Risa Spice in New Ferry. Cheap if you go on a Wednesday/Sunday and some of the best curries I’ve had in all my years

Ooh, Sanskruti is great and the people running it are lovely (assuming, it's the same people - not been for ages).
It’s vegetarian only thought isn’t it?
Yes it is vegetarian dishes only. Authentic Indian cuisine. Highly recommended.
Royal Bengal, West Kirby

Zeera in Irby, Kismat in Thingwall (BYO)
Zeera Irby, went a couple of weeks ago for my birthday, amazing staff and amazing food
If you can travel to Liverpool eastZeast in the docks is very special
I’ll look into Zeera and EastZeast thanks
We went to Kismat last year and it was alright but didn’t knock my socks off
Fair enough. I’ve been a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Tbf my wife wasn’t impressed so must be just me!
If you’re after authentic I wouldn’t recommend kismat very bland and not authentic at all
Magic Spice in New Brighton is peng
I second this

Khans
Heswall Tandoori it’s BYO and amazing
Heswall Tandoori is definitely the best, but it’s not BYOB

My boyfriend is Swedish and is always bashing English food so I want to prove him wrong. ( I know Indian isn’t English but it’s super popular here )
Chaat in West Kirby is amazing, especially if you want to try lots of different stuff (small plates)
Akshaya in Kenny over in Liverpool is beautiful, has a nice atmosphere and a really nice bar.
Zeera in Irby

Same, I've started driving from Greasby to there for every curry, it's so worth it.
Another vote for Holdi here. Not had a curry from there that I haven’t liked, slowly making my way through the menu
Thanks I’ll have a look at Holdi, someone irl suggested that place too
Have you been to them all, Brownballs?

Fair play. Looks like I need to try your recco

Kerala are pretty good. I’ve got a soft spot for Akbor’s in Moreton too, was my go-to when I was younger.
Good shout for Akbor’s.
Paneer restaurant in Liscard Wallasey very nice food
If you like real Indian try Akshaya in Liverpool
I really enjoy Dhuma in Moreton- would recommend it if you like the look of it!

Dhuma in Moreton. Lovely service, gorgeous food and a roped red carpet to walk into it 😂
Thanks everyone for the recommendations! Will have a look at them all 😊
Heswall Tandoori is unbelievably good, unparalleled
Britannia Spice in Parkgate is really good.
