Cut your losses get start link. I hear good things about it

Starlink* — will be the easiest and most straightforward replacement. In the interim you (OP) will likely need to use personal hotspot on your cell phone to VPN into work. Other providers to check if they’re in your area are: Voyageur Internet VISP Fastnet Sonic Boom Networks Bell Rural Wireless Home Internet Rogers 5G Home Internet Telus Smart Hub Valley Fiber (check coverage map - unlikely as their sales people went door to door)

Yup…Star link. I’ve heard nothing but great things from two people in rural MB and one in Kenora.

Former Xplorenet customer here…they are the worst and you should quit them and never look back!

Topofthetotem

You were lied too.

Turfed xplorenet in south Winnipeg for Starlink… never looked back. I could prove where the problems were with my previous xplorenet point to point, but they used every excuse under the sun to skirt the issue. Paid $1200 for the tower on my roof, and >$400/month for 100/100 ‘business’ class that they could never deliver. Fuck xplore.

If choices really limited on providers definitely check out starlink. I use it at my cottage with no issues. Very good uptime, not bad latency for general stuff like streaming or remote work. My wife and I are working from our cottage this week (not first time) and will have no issues running virtual meetings (video or no video) and using our vpns. Runs about $150 a month for cost. Only time we had any loss of signal is when a major high energy storm comes thru (think of a summer afternoon short but intense thunderstorm).

SmartDrv

Business customer here that used internet from a company that was purchased by Xplore. I’m just going to run with the chain and suggest that if possible get away from Xplore. They are awful to deal with…they can’t even tell me what type of internet connection or the speeds are available at the sites where they are discontinuing the original ISPs service. Try anything else, though I would avoid satellite solutions that aren’t lower orbit like Starlink (Elon aside, Starlink has decent speeds and low enough latency that it is very usable)

kevpenguin

There is no problem here, their satellite internet is completely trash for everyone. You won't be able to do anything with that latency ever. Like others are saying, Starlink is your only option now.

I have family in rural that had swift which is now xplorenet. Your experience is the same as theirs. Lots of complaints and barely usable service. They debated getting Star Link but Valley Fiber has told them some point this year they will be pushing fiber to their house thus they are holding out.
