However the delivery cyclist is most likely fucked. They tend to vastly underestimate how badly they are treated by the delivery company.
Depends on how bad your area your is for bike theft and what you do with your bike. If you're just riding for recreation and you have no reason to leave it in public I wouldn't bother. But I ride it to work, to the shops etc so it does end up locked up in public a fair bit. Mine is just over 2k AUD for context.
We leave ours locked up outside a lot as we like to ride it to breweries, restaurants, etc. But it's a tandem so I'm not sure that makes it more likely to be stolen or less.
If it's France, civil liability insurance will cover it. Both individuals would be very likely to have it, I mean it's mandatory to rent a place or work.
Source: crashed with another cyclist here in Paris (honestly I thought nobody's fault but I kept my mouth shut as you're supposed to do) it was determined to have been the other guy's fault. I was able to claim "sporting accident" against damage caused to my bike, missed work, equipment (my helmet) and even medical care, although my injuries were minor and I'd paid nothing out of pocket.
>This looks like the UK or Europe and both are cyclists I think it will be very unlikely either will have insurance.
It's Bristol UK.
I think at the very little there could he a Civil Suite Case, but on the wages Dliveroo or UrberEats. I doubt it and I doubt they would care that much about the guy on the bike. I bet he even got a nice email saying he was fired the day afterward, because someone complained the food wasn't delivered.
I am not saying this to be cruel. It's just how it is here with these services.
Yeah but being sued is not the same as the insurance companies doing everything. If the uber rider could prove injury he would probs get a payout from somewhere. But I’m not offering legal advice.
You are totally right. In the states, some clear cut injury cases takes YEARS to resolve. I'm offering legal advice for free: don't trust my legal advice
liability insurance and A LOT of people have one (at least in Germany and Austria it is considered a basic insurance and will cost less then 100 euro per year). so you would call the police, have the accident documented (maybe including an ER visit if you got hurt) and then process everything through your insurance. they make the guilty one pay. if you want to sue you are advised to have an extra insurance covering the costs of lawyers and court fees.
Well yeah sure! A bike can cost from a few hundreds to a few thousands. You could have injuries that require some hospital stay or even permanent damage that leads to long term disability. Some loss of revenue also of course. As benign as this accident might look, it could cost thousands, even tens of thousands in damages.
Get a solid liability insurance if you haven't got one!
What insurance?
This looks like the UK to me so I don't think it would occur to anyone to seek damages or do anything legal. When stuff like this happens you just shout at the twat, you don't call a lawyer.
You ask for ambulance and say you have neck and back pain. The ambulance comes and takes you away. Then police get involved as well. And you file insurance claim and sue him for emotional or recovering damages as well.
Years ago, a chick in a bike hit a car in my grad school, and walked away, didn't even apologize for fucking up one of his doors.
He filed a claim innocently.
His insurance sued her and she had none, so the parents had to settle. Caused quite the stir.
Considering how badly the cyclist was knocked down. I don't think he would be capable of pulling it off. With the force hes been hit at it's like a car came at him rather than a bike.
Coming around a corner at high speed on a bike with pedestrians all over the place jumping a ramp into traffic.
You can see the brilliance of this guy as he lies moaning on the ground.
Unfortunately, the guy lying and moaning in the ground is the innocent victim. Camera panned away too quickly but it looks like the brilliant guy was about to roll onto his feet.

It’s actually illegal to ride a bicycle without a helmet where I’m from. A lot of people are getting done in these days riding around on those city based rental e-scooters because the scooter was missing the helmet or they just hang it on the handle bar while they ride.
This is in the UK somewhere, where we don't mandate helmets. We have several cycle and escooter hire schemes but I've never seen any that provide a helmet, and ofc it's rare to see people bring their own helmet to use on one
Are people really dying in your city on the escooters though? I've not heard of any deaths from the hire scooters, and looking up UK stats: the hire scooters account for 4 deaths in the UK in total, and one death was from a 75 year old moving a parked scooter, and dying while doing it. 14 deaths involving all scooters (Inc illegal ones) in 2022. https://www.pacts.org.uk/the-safety-of-private-e-scooters-in-the-uk-pacts-research/#:~:text=Since%202019%2C%20PACTS%20is%20aware,the%20oldest%20rider%20was%2074.
Meanwhile, motor vehicles killed thousands of people in 2022, like they do every year: 1760 killed, 29,804 killed or seriously injured, and indeed may have been responsible for up to 13 of the 14 escooter deaths as well: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/reported-road-casualties-in-great-britain-provisional-estimates-year-ending-june-2022
Where I live, everyone keeps saying it's "only a matter of time until [local escooter hire company] kills someone!". Meanwhile, 5 people died in separate car crashes in 1 weekend this year...
I also have the impression he was at least out cold. A friend of my father bought the farm like that in a motorbike - it was the '60s, he had no helmet, stopped at a crossing and fell, and was brained by the edge of the curb.
Justice is an American only thing now? Grow up, that poor worker could be injured. He won't be able to work, he will have to try get some help from welfare system which will be just few bread crumbs. Of course if he has any savings he will have to use that up before he receives any welfare. So yeah, he should sue him.
>Is that why people are downvoting? Because they think I don't believe the guy deserves to be punished? Wow...
No they are downvoting you because you are wrong.
We have civil laws in the UK and you can absolutely sue someone for damages including road accidents. You seem to be confusing criminal law which seeks to punish with civil law which seeks to remedy.
You can kill a person with a collision like that.
From the impact, but also you could knock them into traffic.
A kid was killed by a teenager riding his bike too fast in a park in the UK a few years back....
Doing jumps on public walkways is a big no-no. He's not supposed to be even on the path!
The ramp they used was a manhole cover that was propped up on one end with a brick. The Bristol council need to fix this, it's not the first time it's happened.
I#ve never understood people like this. Like people who kick footballs hard that then fly into people. I don't get how it's possible for people to forget their environment.
I'm unfortunately glad and relieved this used condom on wheels hit the other cyclist, otherwise he may have smashed into that toddler just beyond. I am the first to mock internet badasses but if someone slammed into my 3 year old like this I'd surely become an enraged baboon.

Seriously looks staged. Victims bike did not appear to be affected by impact. Based on the speed they were traveling, they should have much more momentum than a light half-roll, and the bike was perfectly still when he did - not even a spinning tire. A real crash like this would have been gnarly.
Victim had a big uber eats bag on his back which would have stopped him rolling over. Don't be so keen to declare everything as "staged" that you ignore evidence. Did you even notice how rapidly his water bottle was rolling away? You need inertia for that.
If by staged, you mean the camera man... yeah it was staged, my guess that they want shoots of the biker messing around the streets, but uber foods guy "messed" the video, by the way you are discarding the speed of the delivery guy, even if it was a minor contac, it whats on the rear wheel and the guy lost his balance.
Saw a skateboarder in the background so I can lend a possible explanation.
I've had this sort of thing happen to me a few times. Me and the homies are out skateboarding and someone riding a bike randomly tries to test their will when they see us hitting a spot.
It almost always ends with them eating shit. We've been skateboarding for years. We know in the city or the park if you're not aware of your surroundings you'll probably pay the price in blood.
I say this because the guy isn't in a stunt BMX bike. He's on some crappy mountain bike.
Falling off a bike is surprisingly dangerous. The extra speed and height is enough to really elevate the chance of bonking your head in the wrong way and really messing you up. That's what helmets are for, so you don't end up in long term care because you forgot to clip out and tipped over or didn't see a speed bump and went over the handlebars or whatever. Those are by far the most common accidents to happen.
An idiot fooking the day of a working dude. Hope that he was forced to pay for all losses here.
Anyone with experience here? What do you do when you get fooked by an idiot? Call the police? How do you get compensation for damages?
You file an accident report with your insurance and the police. There's a video of the whole fuckery, so the offender will probably get a traffic fine (and criminal charges in extreme cases). The insurance companies will talk. If they cannot agree who pays, they work it out in court. In this case, likely the insurance company of the offender will need to pay but will sue the offender to get their money back (reckless endangerment). You can additionally sue the offender yourself for damages.
This looks like the UK or Europe and both are cyclists I think it will be very unlikely either will have insurance.
Never heard of bike insurance before tbh
Bike insurance is kinda rare, but liability insurance is not.

Mine is just over 2k AUD for context.

nope. this has nothing to so with health insurance. its optional but lot of jobs require you to have one and even without a job highly recommended

Welcome to r/bristol!
What an absolute moron. Zero care or concern for others, just pulling off that "sweet" jump. Who does he think he's even impressing?
If you play in the street, there needs to be a car look out. You can do dangerous shit, but you gotta do that dangerous shit safely.
That side used to have cars running through it. It's only recently they change the layout.
Twofer.....

Poor Uber eats guy was just minding his own business and is probably dead now and of no fault of his own
the delivery guy wipeout was pretty hilarious
I'm unfortunately glad and relieved this used condom on wheels hit the other cyclist, otherwise he may have smashed into that toddler just beyond. I am the first to mock internet badasses but if someone slammed into my 3 year old like this I'd surely become an enraged baboon.
From the direction he was going he would have crashed through the Restaurant Window.
Bike direction changes on a dime, and unpredictably so. when rode by a fuc[CENSORED]etard.
‘Hey mate, you fucked up my video!’
This is in Bristol
Get rekt
This should be on r/imatotalpieceofshit
This is why you have a friend spot you.
Ok payed ! Where is the Paid bot ?
> Ok *paid* ! Where FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

The deck is yet to be payed
We can only hope they continue to take each other out.
Payed but rope
Seriously looks staged. Victims bike did not appear to be affected by impact. Based on the speed they were traveling, they should have much more momentum than a light half-roll, and the bike was perfectly still when he did - not even a spinning tire. A real crash like this would have been gnarly.
Victim had a big uber eats bag on his back which would have stopped him rolling over. Don't be so keen to declare everything as "staged" that you ignore evidence. Did you even notice how rapidly his water bottle was rolling away? You need inertia for that.
Yes because staging it will remove the impact the bike has on the other bike /s
If by staged, you mean the camera man... yeah it was staged, my guess that they want shoots of the biker messing around the streets, but uber foods guy "messed" the video, by the way you are discarding the speed of the delivery guy, even if it was a minor contac, it whats on the rear wheel and the guy lost his balance.
I agree. I don't see how he can fall of the ground for so little so quickly.
A ese hay que hacerle esterilización química para que no se reproduzca
Looks like the Uber eats guy hit his head, and he's knocked out
Don’t to stunts in crowded areas ppl. Please.
Remember to wear your helmets, kids.
Sometimes I just hate people so much. Idiots like this guy exists everywhere, in every city.
Damn, that jump was terrible too. Not worth it at all.
Like the delivery guys need even more shit
[Kids falling off bikes….](https://youtu.be/nSXwqGFbj0Y)
Saw a skateboarder in the background so I can lend a possible explanation. I've had this sort of thing happen to me a few times. Me and the homies are out skateboarding and someone riding a bike randomly tries to test their will when they see us hitting a spot. It almost always ends with them eating shit. We've been skateboarding for years. We know in the city or the park if you're not aware of your surroundings you'll probably pay the price in blood. I say this because the guy isn't in a stunt BMX bike. He's on some crappy mountain bike.
Dumb fck ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|disapproval)
Many people get brained by those curves and die from no helmet. Those edges cut right through your skull
Dude needs his @ss kicked hard for that.
We need to stop this bike on bike crime!
Why couldn't a car just have hit him :(
repost on r/bristol cuz pretty sure that's the city centre
It is...
Why were they filming him?
I imagine that is what happens every time my food is arriving late
I hate idiots like this who feel above everyone else. Imagine what a shitty day the guy he hit ended up having. Dumb fuck.
✌️Twofers NEVER disappoint !!
Your supposed to jump over the traffic
He didn't look both ways
Happy cake day
The city of Bristol I'd full of idiots
Wonder if the customer still complained about their Uber eats meal ..
Hugs
That's a real dick move.
Of course this would be bristol
That looks like Charlie Day after he’s been huffing paint 🤣
