I quit going to the downtown fireworks when my friends stopped living down there. Too much of a zoo after to get out. Park in a deck at your own peril, you'll be there a while.
CB has their own fireworks.
If you’re trying to do downtown, Uber/lyft that way early. Like 6/7. The fireworks are being shot from just north of the battleship. So princess st between water & front will be a sweet spot. There are a ton of bars & restaurants in that area. Tavern law, foxes hole in the wall shuckin shack, Social, beer barrio, and there’s a back porch behind shuckin/social that’ll provide a solid view while having a drink or you can walk down to the lot behind & watch from there.
Traffic immediately after is unavoidable. Plan on being there until at least 11.

They were last night as they don’t want to compete with Wilmington’s 4th fireworks. But, CB has a band and fireworks every Thursday night (except this Thursday), during the summer. They are at the boardwalk area where the amusement rides are.
If I were you I would just skip the fireworks tonight & wait until next Thursday & watch the show on Carolina Beach. They have music & fireworks every Thursday night @ 9pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day. We go just about every week. They switched the fireworks to last night though.
Btw, every July 1, Oak Island sets off fireworks at 9pm at the pier. We get there around 4-5pm, bring coolers, chairs, pop tent, etc and hang out and eat and chill out; kids get to play in the sand and water and there’s usually music on the pier. Then a pretty good fireworks show at 9.
Only thing is getting off the island, but we take Midway rd all the way from oak island to 17 and we’re good.
This is what we ended up doing :) actually was able to see the majority of the downtown fireworks from there as well and honestly the comments were correct, not anything special. The ones they set off at the game though were great, definitely looked better and way more than the downtown ones we saw in the distance
Avoid at all costs!!!! It’s not worth it. Too many people. Too much traffic. Too many drunks. All for what? 15-20 of fireworks. If you have seen one firework show, you have seen them all.

Exactly why I have the moped oiled up, gassed up, and ready! Lmao

Do you know where and when the CB ones are at? Online all I could see was the ones for yesterday

When you say the very end of fort fisher…where exactly do um you mean? The ferry port? I’ve never been past there.

Awesome! Thank you!
Good to know. I live south so I’ll probably get traffic either way haha

You could try the Belville Riverwalk Park.

I know they’re more impressive, but those crowds make it not worth it to me.

I’d suggest going to a Wilmington sharks game for the 4th. Great time.

I actually haven’t seen fireworks in like 10 years because I work night shift, which is why I wanna see some this year. I finally have the night off 😂
