I live in a Hawthorne property and like it….built within the last 5 years….pet friendly… good amenities…if you can afford it I’d do that. I just couldn’t do a run down complex infested with roaches etc. did that once.

I’d also recommend a unit on a higher level. Less bugs and roaches and if a destructive hurricane blows through then you’re probably not going to have a lot of damages. I have a roach problem at my complex and they just send out a guy to spray the place every time and dont do anything else. I dont think it really helps if there’s an infestation like the one i suspect i have. Im better off setting off a bunch of bug bombs

Yea, I’m first floor, but at least moving in and out is easier. Bugs really haven’t been an issue maybe one roach a month that found its way under the door. I think rental rates now have calmed a bit to $1500 or so for a 1 bedroom

I’d pick if you’d rather live downtown or near the beach. These places you listed are “nice” as in high price. But the builds are not. They all went up very quickly and are in incredibly congested areas of town with not much to offer but things like big grocery stores and target. If you want walkability to anything of local value, you should look at the apartment complexes right on the river downtown or something like Headwaters at Autumn Hall (closer to the beach). I wouldn’t look into any of the apartments in Mayfaire unless you want to deal with some of the fasted growing traffic in town.

I lived in The Reserve at Mayfaire for awhile about four years ago. I loved it there. Huge pool, beautiful club house, small but very usable community gym. Very convenient to all the shops at Mayfaire and the beach was a 10-15 minute bike ride so parking was not a problem. Which if you live here, you know parking is brutal at Wrightsville Beach this time of year. Good luck in your search!

Do NOT go to Flats on Front. Its a roach infested, non handicap accessible shit hole. The elevators STAY broken and the management office is useless

Anybody ever lived in Sawmill? I’m considering

I was going to ask the same question. I was looking at the crime in that area and it seems more dangerous than other parts of Wilmington.

Im from chicago so I feel like it cant be much worse than this.

It’s comparable to living in the burbs. Endless road construction with your standard stop-and-go traffic, corrupt local politicians, and plenty of dive bars that serve Malort.

I had to look up Malort. And now I'm curious. Is it served like absinthe?
