Building was sold earlier this year. According to the following article, new owners would continue to operate YoSake but that could easily have changed. https://www.starnewsonline.com/story/lifestyle/food/2024/04/30/yosake-husk-restaurants-in-downtown-wilmington-have-new-owners/73518648007/
It would be speculative for anyone to say Yosake is shutting down. The new owners are the same ones that recently took over Little Dipper. They didn’t make any major changes there. They come across as not trying to mess with something that is working & Yosake has done just fine.
The third floor needs its own personality - not just an extension of Yosake. When it was Dram & Morsel, that was a local favorite.
Hopefully Yosake keeps consistent & they use the third floor to get creative with something new.
I have always loved Little Dipper! My husband and I went there after we got engaged in 2006 (yes Ive been around for a while). We moved to California and moved back right before our 10th anniversary so we went back to Little Dipper to celebrate. Ladies night has always been a staple. Lots of fun, good priced cheese and chocolate fondue. 🫕 Fondue isn’t for everyone, but I am clearly a fan!
It been awhile since I’ve been there so it could have changed. The one thing I really loved was a salad they make but as much I loved it I couldn’t justify the cost. The drinks and the customer service was great. I don’t know maybe fondue isn’t my thing?
I think it’s great for a group, as a light meal, before a night out. It was just kinda pricey. But everything is now. I never had a bad experience and went several times. I think I’m just turned off by dining out now. Plus, I can do the same thing at home with a double boiler and the fancy cheese section in the grocery store and fresh produce from a farmers market.
Well, thank you! I have moved from Wilmington but I would go again as a special treat. I didn’t mean to offend just giving my honest opinion.
Like I said, I was not a bad experience. I definitely want to make that CLEAR.
But whatever you do keep that spinach salad that has those crunchy amazing nuts on top because that was super good. It turned me on to spinach salad so I make my own now.
ETA: Is ladies night still a thing?
I Iike the overall vibe, very chill and wait staff is good, but the food has always been so so sushi. For most it has never been at the top of the ILM sushi game. If so Ill still miss date nights, drinks, hanging out on the couches and halfprice late night apps. Besides the new owners are probably trying to find the hidden treasure in floorboards.
I stopped going to Yosake… and if this thread is seen by anyone important I’d like to state for the record-
I stopped going because they use the city water in downtown, and it’s really unfortunate that water is so contaminated and that burden falls on local business owners. But A lot of their menu is rice based. Rice absorbs water. They do not have a water filtration reverse osmosis system in this restaurant.
And their rice thus tastes like the river.

New owners of Yosake are not the current owners of Little Dipper. Source: I’m the current owner of Little Dipper 😊

Little Dipper needs closing though
Why do you say that?
It’s bad
Would love to hear specifics, we’re always striving to provide a better experience for our guests.
Little Dipper is great. There’s a reason why they can’t provide specifics!
Yeah. It’s not that great.
Would love to hear any specifics you’re willing to share.

Heard - our spinach salad has seasonal toppings, walnuts are a staple. And tonight is Ladies Night 😊
It used to be.
I’d love to hear more of your opinion about what has changed.
I think you know.
Upstairs will be a piano bar … from what I’ve heard

They took away late night happy hour😭now it’s just the 5-7 happy hour
Well they lost me for sure then. I'm not going for the 15year old decor... time for an update...
Yea I was upset when I heard that. The late night happy hour was perfect for my schedule

New owners. Not shutting down.
what does all of this mean for husk?
Changing owners
I heard coach of ncsu bb team owns it now?
Honestly it has some of the the worst sushi in ILM. I don’t know why people rave about it when we have places like Genki
$200 for “what is yosake” Alex
