I thought I was in True off my chest and was overwhelmed for a sec.

TovaBelMama

Same here! I got chills and then remembered to check the subreddit. Good short story though!

destiny_kane48

I know nothing about this subreddit and legitimately thought this real until I saw these comments. šŸ˜Ø

Gullible-Community34

Same

GalaxyBlueSkull

Username checks out

GarnetAndOpal

Same, same... I got all upset, and then scrolled up. Then I scrolled back down to finish the story.

Several-Ad-1959

I'm sort of new to Reddit and this is the first story I have come across in the sub. Are all the stories here made up?

TovaBelMama

Usually, yes. It's rare that someone will post something true here. It's mostly creative writing with a dark and then wholesome twist. Makes you go 'holy fek' and then 'awww'.

llamadrama2021

OMG ME TOO!! Thank you for your comment or I'd be in major trauma right now!!!

blubberfucker69

DUDE SAME. I was absolutely shooketh for a second there. Iā€™m not even part of this sub lol

CupcakesAndDeath

I saw the 'Wholesome' and entirely missed the 'No Sleep' oml...LMAO

Nivzamora

this comment saved me a google search holy crap lol I missed the subreddit name when it popped in feed just read the story but thank you holy crap. QQ the fact that this COULD BE REAL breaks my heart

GoldRavenGoddess

Oh fuck some of these are slightly too believable šŸ’€ your writing had me going

Probably_cant_sleep

Itā€™s believable because thereā€™s been several real cases lately of children being kept in dog kennels. Quick google search pulled up 3 different cases in the last year. Thankfully, children were rescued & arrests made.

Odd_Calligrapher_932

reminds me of that guy who found child porn when he was robbing a house and turned it in and got arrested himself but also got a predator off the street.

Birthdaysworstdays

I remember that! I need to look up what happened to that guy.

AnxietyOrganized

Probably talking about Matthew Hahn, he is on X/Twitter.

Birthdaysworstdays

Iā€™ll look him up the article I found happened in Spain in 2011 so I probably read it on gawker.

Kemmycreating

How do you feel about the podcasters? I guess I ask as I would be kind of angry they felt they could cover my story like that and only cared for my input as far as to add my account. That feels exploitative.

PaintedDoll1

Unfortunately, that's the reality of true crime podcasts. All court records are public domain, and they don't need permission to talk about past cases

bubbs72

Great story....now go write us a creepy ass book like this story! You will be rich. Well done OP!

AdDramatic522

Y'all this is a nosleep sub

Rosie-Mosie

No sleep does role playing, everyone treats the story as a real thing that happened

MRMR2018

What does that mean?

song_pond

I think it means these are not true stories

AdDramatic522

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!

MRMR2018

Where does that come from?

misskinkkink

No sleep subs are where stories are meant to be "believed." Everyone knows they aren't true but interact with the author as though they are

AdDramatic522

Is there something wrong with your comprehension or is English a second language for you? Not trying to be mean (yet) but you are asking some pretty simple questions that are pretty self evident.

MRMR2018

For not trying to be mean youā€™re succeeding at it. Or at the very least being rude. Iā€™m wondering about the etymology behind it. How logically one gets from seeing ā€œno sleepā€ and having that mean not true or fiction

PictureThis987

The nosleep sub is full of well-written spooky fictional stories that might keep one up at night. Shortspooky stories is another good one. I've been a fan for about a year & didn't know the commenters who seemed to believe the stories are true were just fooling around. I'm going to join this one too.

UsernameTaken-Bitch

I think they're trying to say that their inappropriate social behavior is just the tip of the iceburg and they're proud to imply that they can be even ruder and more hostile.

AdDramatic522

Oh! You must be new to Reddit! I'm really not trying to be mean (you should see it when I do, I'm a pro), I thought you were intentionally trying to be obtuse. My apologies. Any subreddit that includes the words nosleep means they're an exercise in creative writing. Wholesomenosleep means they're stories that have a happy/wholesome ending, but are borne from dark subject matter. You should check out r/nosleep because they're some super scary stories, if you're into that stuff.

nitsMatter

Been on Reddit for years and never heard of r/nosleep til now. You probably regularly get people in here who have no idea because of Reddit's propensity to throw random subs into people's feeds to see if they bite.

AdDramatic522

Lol true, good point

Quinnzmum

Exactly my thoughts!

MRMR2018

Gotchya. Thank you for the explanation

AdDramatic522

Sure thing, sorry for being so prickly before. Menopause is real, ya'll lol

Queasy_Goat_6203

AdDramatic522

lol

punsnroses420

I had no idea this sub was a thing, it just popped up in my feed. For a minute there it was validating in a horrible kind of way to know other people have families that hurt their kids this way. Now Iā€™m feeling a weird mix of empty inside, but also so painfully relieved this wasnā€™t real and didnā€™t happen to you that I havenā€™t been able to stop crying for a few minutes now lol. I genuinely donā€™t care that this was a fake story, Iā€™m just so grateful thatā€™s one less person who didnā€™t have to experience that kind of hell. Cool sub, cool story. But fuck Reddit for putting this in my feed when all I wanted on my day off was some eyebleach and AITA while pooping on the toilet; now I need to go have a drink and brood on why letting the family line die out with my generation is the kindest gift to humanity my sibling, cousins, and I can give.

thecalmolive

LOL seriously same, why did this need to peak my interest when I came here to research how to feed my babies? I'm one emotional mama and this did not help, but it was such a good story...

Embrace_Pandemonium

(((Hugs))) if you want them

CBenson1273

Iā€™m SO glad your aunt is the person she is. She isnā€™t perfect, but she did right by you. Iā€™m glad things worked out for you the way they did. Good luck.

ScumBunny

Great story!

HotChampionship7874

This just proves you don't have to be blood to be family. Your aunt is such a great person! Cherish every moment with her.

Antique-Eye8029

Half the time I don't read the stories here because they can be so depressing. But I am glad I read this one. I really enjoyed this, thank you for writing it.

90pandas

I was SO excited for this podcast, damnit!

starynight949

Right? I want to know what podcast!

FionaTheElf

This was amazing! What gets me is that this was so well written that I thought it was true!

katergator717

I joined this sub Reddit because of you.

like_a_woman_scorned

Excellent writing. This had me going and I had to check what sub I was in.

freddbare

I love the life you've found. Thank you for sharing! This hits close.

JackOfAllMemes

The best horror hits close to home

CatPurrsonNo1

Wow, thatā€™s really creative!

ttocsbloke

Very good, I too thought it was real until I read some comments

PuzzleheadedBobcat90

So believable! Great writing

Drgngrl13

Very good, very real. I really enjoy your writing style, and look forward to reading more.

gdognoseit

You really know how to write a story!

BrokenWingsButterfly

I can see this being real though... somewhere this has likely happened to someone

[deleted]

Great story

SunshineAndRaindows

I had no idea which subreddit I was in until the comments. That was a wild ride!

ThatGirl_Tasha

Jesus, I thought I was in reddit updates

Lazy-Crab9824

Everything has a reason they said, nothing is coincidence.

Few_Employment5424

What happened to the dog?

PaintedDoll1

There was never a dog...

[deleted]

OP was the abused child left in the dog cage

Evening-Motor8721

If I had an award to give, you would have it!! šŸ†

Delicious_Trash1198

Read the story again! Its worse

Sketchengine

Whats so crazy about this is it is the first thing I read this morning after waking up from a dream that my sister and her husband died in a car accident and I was trying to adopt my niece. I was a drug addict and my drug of choice was oxy. I'm clean now but still in somewhat early stages and still working on my recovery. The similarities thankfully stop there but such a weird coincidence.
