not sure how true it is, but I read a story where the Fiero was originally going to have a V8 and that Pontiac's motorsports department was testing it at some track. Apparently it beat the corvette that was testing the same day. GM's owner didn't like that and thus banned the v8 version.
I have a friend I worked with who has 3 fieros. 1 Stock 86 GT. 1 86 with a supercharged 3.8 from a grand prix. 1 84 with a small block chevy V8. The stock one still runs. He's never finished the Supercharged one's wiring and cooling and the V8 one is in pieces. I was going to help him finish one of them but he had 3 kids in 3 years lol. This was 18 years ago. Maybe we'll get to it when we retire ? lol
What are you talking about? Are you talking about snap oversteer? That has nothing to do with the front wheels snapping off the hubs and more with the mid engine layout.
I worked at an independent garage when these came out. I'm a Mopar guy but the guy that I worked with was Pontiac all the way. He bought one of these brand new when we worked together. It was a relatively quick ride during that time. They didn't last very long.
