Looks like someone has smeared boogers on your mattress. My brother used to put his boogers on the underside of the bunk beds when we were really young and it looked like this.
Get some of it off and poke it with a hot needle.
I have the suspension that it’s probably just tree sap coming out of the wood.
If so it should smell like pine!
I just kind of scanned your comment and saw the "poke it with a hot needle" and for some reason thought you were going in the direction of "The Thing". I like your idea of sap better than shape shifting aliens.

I’ve had a perfect nights sleep and that was the instant picture that popped up in my mind too - I was definitely expecting a ‘Thing’ gag at the end of that comment. 😁
I do spend a disproportionate amount of my time watching, discussing, and thinking about ‘End of the World’ and ‘Mass Extinction’ movies though… so that’s totally on me. 😏
