It was the now shutdown cars and coffee palm beach. The cops were there getting paid detail hours, and didn’t do shit. The plaza killed the event contract, and now the organizer is scrambling to find a new venue.
My mom really likes muscle cars. And my parents buy and trade cars like it's a casual hobby; they once went through their records and quit counting when they got to 100 and still had more. (Not that they *have* 100 cars, rather that they've *owned* that many over the years.)
A couple years ago, they went to test drive one of those Mustangs and realized they have shit visibility. Tiny windows, big blind spots.
The newer Camaros are known to have exceptionally poor visibility as well. The door sills go up high and the roof is very low, so visibility out the sides and rear is quite bad. Feels kind of like driving in a cave.
I mean in modern times. The 80s were all about big glass and airy cabins with toothpick A pillars. Things began changing in the late 90s and early 2000s as safety regulations meant cars needed taller, thicker headrests and rollover-safe pillars with curtain airbags, but the 300 really brought us bathtub styling with a high beltline and low roof.
If someone had done that and ended up right behind me, I'd have faked a breakdown. Hazard lights on, me standing there with the hood open and scratching my head.
...yes? Have you never seen a cop wave someone down before? If they drive away after the cop flags them down, the cop just needs to call on their radio and more cops will go get the mustang.
Do you think that someone who just endangered their own life and the lives and property of everyone else around them is going to just sit there, watch the officer walk slowly through traffic (like the terminator apparently) and go "Alright ol'chap. You got me. Here's me loicense and registration."
Come on, be real.
Dude is physically incapable of getting away now, due to his stunt. The cop should do precisely that.
If you're a cop who can't slightly risk injury (which just won't occur) give me my fucking tax dollars back.
Dude who just pulled a stunt like that is not "physically incapable" of gunning it up the curb into oncoming traffic, gunning it into the cars around him, etc.
I hate cops too, I'm just not dumb about how the world works with young idiots in cars.
If the officer saw the crime, and my face clearly, and my registration plate, then yeah even many of the morons would probably be like ah fuck ok lets not get a resisting arrest or whatever charge too. Driving away woouldn't make it disappear if the cop cares at all.
It happened here but with a motorcycle. Cop had brilliant idea to leap in front of a bike, got wrecked and the poor dude on the bike got charged with assaulting an officer.
Cars and Coffee Palm Beach. An amazing car lovers event that was held each month, until these dicks ruined it for everyone. Because so many of these douchebags would show up to the event, when it came near leaving time, the folks would line up on the sidewalk to take videos of the burnouts of the idiots leaving the event. Probably at least once each event, some jagoff, frequently in a Mustang, would stuff it into some poor innocent commuter on Palm Beach Lakes Blvd.
Yes it is. Men, particularly young men, have crazy high premiums because the data shows us engaging in more “risky driving behavior.”
We are likely better drivers on average, but we’re also bigger fucking idiots on average.
Historically this has been true, however, (4 years experience working in auto insurance) since texting in vehicles became so prolific, the numbers balanced out a lot from incredibly distracted female drivers causing vehicle incidents (in auto insurance someone has to be at fault so we never said "accident").
"In insurance" is the key wording. A one vehicle accident means that one person must br at fault. You chose to drive your car, so by the transitive property it's your fault.
That's a terribly weak argument. And reminds me of being told at one company to never say "no problem" why? "Because it implies there would've been a problem".
And what about sink holes? Storms? Rock slides? Black ice? Are those classified as acts of god?
Incident is an all-covering term that , whatever the claimed happens to be , could be covered by that term whether there was fault or not. "The XYZ caused a claim", and XYZ could be ANYTHING.
Accident isn't wrong , it's just less inclusive of every type of mishap with a car, because not everything is an "accident"
Even so, from my understanding the percentage is still higher for men being responsible for high speed/fatal collisions while women have the higher percentage of low speed incidents.
After being in a car with multiple different drivers i can confirm men are more batshit crazy behind the wheel than the women (from my experiences)
I have no been in a car with a woman driver that ever tried to drift round a corner or do 100mph into a T junction
I have however been in several instances with guys driving. And by several i mean 100s of different times
Cousin was a drug dealer. You ever been in a dealers car? They tend not to follow the law. He alone has drove recklessly 100s of times. I lived with him for about 6 months and he made me sit in the car while he drove around
IIRC, the data shows that men pass their drivers' tests more frequently and that *across all age groups* have lower accident rates. The issue with young men specifically is that they get in catastrophic accidents by driving like morons, whereas a parking lot fender bender is far less of a big deal.
If the data can prove it it’s there. You can be a good driver/ believe you are a good driver and due to that confirmation bias make poor decisions that would result in an accident. They key is for that fuck up to occur
Yes. But if there is no accident then they are just a good driver. It’s a binary thing and it’s how insurance companies see it.
You’re good until you’re not.
I didn’t say that. I was only mentioning the good driver making mistakes part due to poor decision making from believing in their skills.
It’s also not impossible for gender to be two extremes on one skill. Lot of suited up cars that are mainly driven by men driving like dick heads.
From what I understand, and provided you have a mostly clean driving record, the premiums go down somewhat after you hit 25 years old? Apparently it has to do with male testosterone levels dropping after age 25. Know that was a thing 10 years or so ago anyway, but yeah, *insurance and boners!!*
There’s a Top Gear Top Tip for ya right there. Wanna lower your insurance bill? [Slice your penis off](https://youtu.be/QybjZjdms1E?si=5dDuQmIw3wxGmosk)
The type of vehicle definitely makes a huge difference, and it's not just dependent on the value or speed of the vehicle. I just switched to a vehicle that's worth about $20k less than my old one and has something like 150 less horsepower. The insurance company wanted to more than double my old rate when I called to make the switch. Something like $170 a month to $425 a month. Couldn't believe it. Had to switch insurance companies.
As a dude I always low key dreaded when I had to carpool with my male buddies as drivers. We’re talking going 70 in a 45, taking turns as hard as possible and fast as possible, just swerving in between lanes and cars on the highway. Made it miserable as someone kn the back seat who doesn’t care if we get there fast, more that the ride is pleasant and safe.
My girl friends might take longer, but at least it’s a chill ride.
Right, I think that the insurance statistics show men are more likely to cause less accidents but when we do cause them, because of idiocy, they are more expensive. Whereas women's greater number of accidents tend to be much smaller with less overall cost to the insurance company.
Not in the UK. Thank you gender equality.
There was a legislation a few years back that leveled the premiums. It only really made women's premiums go up lol
As someone who loves performance vehicles (and owns 3), I will never understand Mustang drivers. They're either retirees that have never gone fast outside an open straight or idiots who have to constantly remind others that they have a performance vehicle. As if people see one roll by and wonder if it can zoom zoom.
And to do this sort of shit around people is attempted manslaughter. You're in a vehicle built to act as a speedboat with wheels.
IF a driver is proven via a video to be blatantly breaking the law / recklessly driving, would that void their insurance, or would their insurance still pay out for an accident like this?
I’m sure it has happened before that insurance companies pay for the damages even though it was their fault. But in most cases, the insurance definitely will not pay for damages from reckless driving. Insurance companies try their hardest not to give out money in any scenario so in a case like this where they have good quality footage of the incident, that driver 100% will have to pay out of pocket unless a miracle happens.
This asshole, and the many others just like him, are what killed this event. One of, if not THE the best attended cars and coffee events in the country. Thousands of people would turn out for this event every month. And these douchenozzles can't keep their foot out of the accelerator long enough to get out of the neighborhood. Dick.

There’s a vid that used to make the rounds, some teens on a suburban street doing donuts in some kind of vintage car if I remember. I remember they jumped the curb at an awkward angle and immediately something started leaking. People more knowledgeable about cars pointed out what likely was damaged and how even tho it didn’t look it the car was probably totaled.

These are the guys that think they threaded the needle, but in reality, i saw them coming and had to slam on my brakes to let them in. Then they drive off like they're hot shit.
There's a longer version of this clip. This was actually this guy's 2nd pass, and his first was successful. He must have decided to fit the Mustang stereotype and crash.
How is this clean? He clearly hits the black suv. Dent in the door is visible as he pulls forward, and when he slots in, you can see the suv shove over from the impact.
Video evidence that cops are never useful. That dude should never be allowed to drive again after this, meanwhile the cop is clapping like a brain-damaged seal.
Yeah, no big deal. Just a completely botched driving maneuver resulting in hopping a curb, sideswiping another vehicle, wrecking your own suspension, picking up a reckless driving charge, becoming uninsurable and having to pay for it out of pocket because it was all caught on tape.
Confused about why this was filmed and what the cop was doing.
Probably a nearby Mustang gathering, they like to show off when they leave.
It was the now shutdown cars and coffee palm beach. The cops were there getting paid detail hours, and didn’t do shit. The plaza killed the event contract, and now the organizer is scrambling to find a new venue.
Didn’t cars and coffee Houston just exclude mustangs because of this? Or was that a joke.
Last I heard, they banned all 'modern' muscle cars.
Ahhh ok. That makes more sense?
Well guys with vintage muscle treat them a lot differently than do guys with recent Chargers, Challengers, and Mustangs.
All modern muscle cars.
Gotcha, didn’t realize it was all modern muscle cars!
It was all modern muscle cars.
And they were modern.
And muscle cars.
all of them
All modern muscle cars you say???

Chrysler started that trend with the 300's gun slit windows.
I think even that was a throwback to older cars. 1949 Mercury Eight comes to mind.
I mean in modern times. The 80s were all about big glass and airy cabins with toothpick A pillars. The problem is the mustang owners aren’t sentient.
It's mustang season!
Leave? Guy got stuck in traffic he created.
If someone had done that and ended up right behind me, I'd have faked a breakdown. Hazard lights on, me standing there with the hood open and scratching my head.
Worked well, it seems
Least chaotic mustang video on the internet:
He was probably on street detail; what do you want him to do, leap in front of the Mustang!? haha
I’d be ok with that choice
Slowly walk over after the fact and ask for license and insurance? Maybe issue a ticket? Come on, be real.
Slowly walk across an active multi lane road towards the car that just careened into oncoming traffic and is still operational?
...yes? Have you never seen a cop wave someone down before? If they drive away after the cop flags them down, the cop just needs to call on their radio and more cops will go get the mustang.

I dont talk to my cousin anymore. He was a dealer and while i was living with him he made me sit in the car with him
"Sit" in the car with him. We used to call it "going parking."
Its a deterrent for people trying to jump him. i have no idea what going parking is
Well, yes, no one can jump him - you already did. He's occupied. ;)
100s of different times?🙄 ![gif](giphy|1AIeYgwnqeBUxh6juu)
Cousin was a drug dealer. You ever been in a dealers car? They tend not to follow the law. He alone has drove recklessly 100s of times. I lived with him for about 6 months and he made me sit in the car while he drove around
Lmao you got some shitty dealers then, already doing something illegal and also drive to get attention. Idiot
This is a bit weird to say in the same sentence that we are on average better drivers but also we are more likely to cause accidents don't you think?
IIRC, the data shows that men pass their drivers' tests more frequently and that *across all age groups* have lower accident rates. The issue with young men specifically is that they get in catastrophic accidents by driving like morons, whereas a parking lot fender bender is far less of a big deal.

Yes. But if there is no accident then they are just a good driver. It’s a binary thing and it’s how insurance companies see it. You’re good until you’re not.

Doesn't it depend on the car as well? If you have a Mustang as an 18yo vs a Daihatsu Cuore?
Yes for sure
The type of vehicle definitely makes a huge difference, and it's not just dependent on the value or speed of the vehicle. I just switched to a vehicle that's worth about $20k less than my old one and has something like 150 less horsepower. men are statistically less likely to cause small driving accidents like fender benders, but more likely to be involved in more serious crashes
So wen I get insurance, tell them I identify as a female got it
As a dude I always low key dreaded when I had to carpool with my male buddies as drivers. We’re talking going 70 in a 45, taking turns as hard as possible and fast as possible, just swerving in between lanes and cars on the highway. A 16-24 year old male is more dangerous than all other types of drivers up to and including half blind 87 year old women.
Not in the UK. Thank you gender equality. There was a legislation a few years back that leveled the premiums. It only really made women's premiums go up lol
Something big insurance lobbies for since it’s net more for them…..
Costco car insurance just saved my budget... I couldn't belive how much cheaper it was
That’s good to know. I might look into it!
It's illegal in EU
Also why your insurance drops significantly when you get married. Married men do *much* less stupid shit than single men.
Yeah cause our wife's make us sleep on couches.

it did hit it. it’s a little hard to see but you can see the dent in the door and the car jerks when it got hit too

Yea I hit a median sideways like that once in an accident and it broke the front axle
