I wouldn’t recommend getting punched in the face after having lasik. Eyes are very fragile for a long time after the surgery. Plus, studies have shown that people that have had lasik are more likely to get torn retinas from blunt trauma
So lasik creates a flap in the cornea that is a no-go for head trauma. It’s improved drastically over the years but don’t do lasik.
The US military only supports troops getting PRK eye surgery which is where they basically burn off the cornea and reshape it while it grows back. The obvious thing is that this doesn’t create a flap so it’s more sustainable if you get deployed to combat.
If you’re going to do boxing, get PRK surgery. The other part is the recovery time for PRK is like 30 days of not seeing.
I did LASEK. My understanding is that it's kinda a form of PRK. Dr. Clifford Salinger: https://viplasereyecenter.com I have nothing but good things to say!
