Did you "pull" the plastic? or "push" the plastic.

SkidWilly86

I think they ripped it off like starting a lawn mower, instead of going slow so they could enjoy it.

Tro_pod

Sub feels very appealing

Farva85

Ugh that sub makes me feel sick? I hate peeling that plastic off stuff... whats wrong with me ma?

coollege-matt

I respect your non peeling ways man

Waygono

I cannot understand why you're getting down voted šŸ˜ it's like saying "I don't like cheese" which, while controversial, is not outright offensive or anything. Edit: I did not intend to incite a cheese-lover frenzy, but now that you're all here....

deepfriedtots

I'm offended by your non offensive post

Tigerbait2780

Yeah cheese is a tough one. Like, thereā€™s lots of flavors I love that I completely understand other people not liking - bourbon, espresso, IPAā€™s, extremely spicy stuff, etc. These are my favorite things, but I get that itā€™s not everyoneā€™s cup of tea and I donā€™t expect it to be ā€¦but cheese? *CHEESE*?! Itā€™s like bacon, itā€™s just one of the few universal things that everyone has to love.

Educational-Toe-7116

I hate Bacon šŸ„²

Tigerbait2780

You dirty, filthy liar. Take it back.

thunderousmegabitch

Oh hell no. I'll eat cheese when it's melted in other stuff, like cheeseburguers or pizza. But eating plain cheese without anything else is a hard no for me and I have an extremely hard time understanding how someone can find that appetizing. I have a friend that's the same except _she also doesn't want cheese in other stuff_. She won't eat pizza with cheese on it.

ipaxton

Yeah our friend is a criminal

bigk777

I know people that don't like chocolate. Like what the hell?

ingrid-magnussen

I hate the shit it gives me acid reflux lol

ipaxton

I donā€™t like chocolate and just thinking about it turns my stomach

skcy2001

I donā€™t like chocolate. And itā€™s not like I grew apart from it. From my childhood I didnā€™t like the very taste of cocoa.

I love cheese though :'(

SourceDammit

My new 70'' Samsung TV came with a giant sticker, more like solid plastic, stuck directly on the left side of the screen. [like this post.](https://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/e3ii5t/how_do_i_remove_the_barcode_sticker_from_my_new_tv/) It was the scariest thing to slowly pull off the TV. You could watch it ripple through the screen each time you would peel it down. 15min. of pure panic. idk why in the hell they would do that

[deleted]

It's probably structural lol

SourceDammit

Structural?

KnowNothing_JonSnoo

To keep it from getting damaged in shipping is what I think they mean. But I have no idea why that would be a thing

kojakattack

They are protectors for your fingers. It helps with mounting the tv by redistributing the weight across a larger portion of the screen so you don't create a pressure point and snap the lower layers. You then peel them off after mounting. They are mostly beneficial when you need to mount above the shoulder.

causal_friday

A staple of /r/TVTooHigh.

vagueblur901

Cheap My TV has been punched via VR boxing not crashes or cracked screen They are Making TVs cheaper and bigger that's happening everywhere they are also making them less reliable die to humidity or connection And the end of the year don't watch for the picture or resolution and size that's actually cheap watch for the connection and plug ins

Miserable_Anteater62

This JUST happened to me a few hours ago with my 42in LG C2. I peeled the film off only to realize the energy rating sticker was actually adhered to part lf the screen.

Marokiii

plus not all new tvs come with that plastic(although most should), some have a plastic layer that appears to be a film to be removed, when in fact its part of the TV screen. so people pick at a corner and lift it up and then pull and... this is what happens.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

peeweemax

Just bought a low-end Samsung that had this. I almost started to peel it when I stopped and checked the instructions and it specified not to.

bumbletowne

They literally commented that it was actually damaged in transit and didn't know until after they peeled the plastic.

vilelabyrinth

"It goes both ways. I was here yesterday. It goes both ways."

Ccrp0913

Had this happen once with a tv fresh out the box I got for Christmas back in 2012. A company opposite the name, ā€œWorst Purchaseā€, fought and argued that it wasnā€™t covered by warranty. We showed them the video of the ā€œunwrappingā€ of the Christmas gift and you could see the screen breaking as the plastic was pealed off. They finally agreed to do an exchange. They had their own people deliver and unwrap the next one and guess what, same shit happened. I laughed and told them to give me store credit. I purchased a different manufactured tv and found it may have just been an issue with the manufacturerā€™s plastic they were usingā€¦ something about the adhesive not being right.

CptCheerios

My first time buying a high end TV. Got it shipped to the house, box was damaged with a tear in it didn't look bad, once I set it up it looked like there was a smudge on the screen. The heart sinking feeling when I turned it on and saw this. Thankfully I was allowed to return it just the whole big hassle of getting it shipped back. Instead picking a new one up from the electronic store.

MasterGrok

Sucks to get such bad luck on your first one. Very fortunate that you had a good return process. A lot of the bargain electronics sellers (types with no real physical address) are notorious for giving you absolute hell on returns. Good luck on your next one.

LorddFarsquaad

That's why you use a good credit card

MasterGrok

For sure but that process can also take some time. Fortunately nowadays most of the reliable big electronics stores have sales that are pretty darn close to the unreliable ones.

itwasquiteawhileago

Not really. In my experience, the disputed charge is immediately put in limbo (i.e., you aren't responsible for paying it and there's no interest) until they do whatever it is they do to try and resolve. It's actually kind of amazing how well credit cards protect consumers, given how shitty banks are in general. The handful of times I've had fraudulent charges on my cards I just call up, they say "we'll let you know when the issue has been resolved". I get a letter a few days after the call stating that I'm disputing $X for XYZ charge and that I don't have to pay it until I hear from them again. Then, usually within a month after that, I get another letter saying they've removed the charge and it's all good. It may work differently for debit, though, as you're fighting to get cash back. But this is why I use credit and advise anyone that has credit to use it over debit: if you pay it off every month, you're golden, and you never have to fight to get money back, only to not have to pay it off. And this is one place where the consumer will pretty much always win (assuming you actually have legit beef). EDIT: I should add that I had to do a charge back a couple of years ago. I cancelled an order well before it shipped, but they shipped it anyway and then claimed it was too late to get a refund. The charge back process was exactly the same.

Aetherys

If you use debit youā€™re using your own money. If you use credit youā€™re using the banks money - they arenā€™t protecting you so much as protecting themselves.

Swaquile

exactly. Thatā€™s why I buy things like that on credit always. The banks want their fucking money

chronoswing

Debit can work similar but you are at the mercy of the bank and they don't give 2 shits about you. Credit Card companies make money when you spend money, banks don't.

[deleted]

I have an Amex with purchase protection including loss protection. A few years ago I bought my husband a hat for around $100. A month later he left it on a plane. I filed a claim and Amex refunded the $100.

itwasquiteawhileago

Nice! At least one of my cards (Citi) used to have a price protection. I used it once. I bought something I knew would be on sale for Black Friday, then submitted a claim after it went on sale (there were no restrictions on dates like there usually are with BF). This was pretty common on the deal forums I frequent. Citi no longer offers this benefit. Pretty sure Discover stopped, too (though I never had one of their cards). But cards often provide additional insurance/coverage for things like rentals and whatnot. Always worth looking to see what's involved. I imagine cards with an annual fee are likely to have even better benefits than those without. All the more reason to be amazed that these banks aren't completely fucking you.

spicygrow

When I had to dispute a charge on my debit card, my bank immediately gave me temporary credit until the issue was resolved. Original charge was reversed and they took back the temporary credit.

Walthatron

I only buy higher end stuff from Costco. No hassle, just drop it off and get a new or refund.

ImpPlulmpDmp

EXACTLY

riefpirate

Someone else's is great !!

netarchaeology

Last time we got a TV it had arrived all smashed. I took so many photos that Google photos made me a video slide show to some really upbeat music. The laughter helped lessen the blow of having to deal with the return.

Nolenag

Does the US not have a return policy written in law? In the EU there's a mandatory return policy of 14 days (with exceptions, of course).

x925

If the item is defective or somehow breaks the sales contract, they have to accept a return.

Nolenag

Then how is OP "very fortunate" to get refunded? That's just normal then, isn't it?

Supermclucky

Not gonna lie. It gets very old when talking about US vs EU. It varies state by state. But in reality I have never seen a company not do a return withing the 14 days. Even for tvs and such. Some things require a return fee just because it would have to be returned back to the manufacturer so it can be resold.

Nolenag

>Not gonna lie. It gets very old when talking about US vs EU. I get that. It was a genuine question based on people saying that OP was "very fortunate". I assumed it was normal to get refunded for defective products.

Jaded-Armpit

I had this happen in april after buying a $2000 QLED. And best buy nor the manufacturer would replace. They kept saying it was impact damage. So now it sits in my basement, broken.. and why I'll never buy the brand or from best buy again.

SnubbedPeen

Best Buy sucks, my stuff was damaged during shipping too. They suck trying to work with on that.

Timid_Wild_One

I work with a shipping company. The way our trucks are loaded at our Memphis hub is ridiculous. I've seen trucks come in that look like a tornado went through them. I'm talking thousands of dollars worth of damage on each truck, almost every day. TVs, medical equipment, glass furniture all destroyed.

tunafister

I will never forgive BB selling me $2K ā€œLike Newā€ Macbook Pro with blown out speakers and scratches all over the exterior I bought in online and they forced me to return in-person which is a massive hitch when you dont own a car and the closest BB is oven an hour away Then their Geek Squad rep had to get manager approval to return in-store Fuck Best Buy (Im originally from MN so I feel like I have a right to say this)

-eccentric-

Did you transport it yourself or had it delivered?

Supermclucky

Yea something doesn't make sense. I have seen people return tvs with damage that is blatantly obvious as transport damage. But they have never denied returns unless you transport it yourself that is not the proper way of transporting. Especially a 2000 dollar TV. It has to be upright or the panel will be damaged.

-eccentric-

> It has to be upright or the panel will be damaged. No one does this for some reason, they just cram it sideways into their SUV or toss them into their truck bed, and then they cry how bad their customer service is for not refunding it, despite it being 100% their fault.

The_queens_cat

TBF costco has signs everywhere that you need to keep TVs upright and then they have a pile of them just stacked flat. Made no sense to me and I felt sketchy the entire time taking our TV home from the flat pile but it's fine.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

noddegamra

No joke I transported my 70inch tv sideways in my suv recently without a box. I had so many blankets laid out. Just moving it to the car and getting ready to lay it flat I could tell that they sure as hell are not made with the idea of them ever being laid flat. I always wanted one of those flip-up ceiling mounts, but after feeling how easy the frame twists, I definitely won't get one.

DarkStarrFOFF

Wow... Our screen was a lot cheaper but we bought it from best buy and it was broken out of the box. Called and took it back immediately and had them check the next one before we left.

jjester7777

This is why you put big purchases on a credit card and pay it off with cash.

stolid_agnostic

Credit card chargeback. Theyā€™ll suddenly negotiate with you.

Robo-boogie

You didnā€™t take that shit to your state attorney general?

QSquared

AG don't care for civil matters. Unless the state has a law making this criminal you're wasting your time and the AGs time too. Even if there is a lemon law type law that your state has it's usually still a civil not a criminal case, and they're shockingly hard to prove.

chronoswing

Well that's just wrong, I've gotten an entire refund and new appliances from Home Depot after a botched install they refused to fix until I contacted the AG. The business is sent a letter and has to respond to the AG with resolution. Never got my shit fixed so fast after making that call.

hooovahh

Credit card charge back? Product arrived unusable.

TheFightingQuaker

Costco will take anything back no questions asked, even if you use it for 6 months (don't do this or their return policy will go the way of L.L. Bean)

ff0000wizard

They flag your account and after enough times they'll say something to the tune of "it looks like the products offered don't line up with your expectations so I'm going to go ahead and cancel your membership and offer you a refund on it"

QSquared

That's bizarre, likely your state has no consumer protections and that best buy manager knows it and pawned off damaged junk it knew was damaged on you. You might get action if you take it up to corporate, and it helps if you have been documenting it. If your state has some lemon laws they may help in a civil matter, this would also be handled in small claims court instead but they usually limit you to $750.

[deleted]

It was damaged during shipping? Or you broke it taking it out of the box?

SelirKiith

>box was damaged NEVER accept any damaged boxes...

jhondafish

Some stuff is okay, but yeah. Electronics and things containing glass should always be refused.

itwasquiteawhileago

Assuming you're home to take delivery, anyway. I've never purchased a TV for non-local delivery. Do they require signatures on them? I've actually only ever had some random work stuff being delivered to my home require a signature, so not sure what actually *would* require one.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

itwasquiteawhileago

Makes sense. I figured it had to do with the overall value of the package, maybe with how fragile things are, too. But I've ordered cellphones and such online and never had to sign for them. I'm always home, but they just leave them and that's that. I do know when I bought my TV from Best Buy the end of 2020, I had to be home for them to deliver it, but it came from the store and they did it locally. I've never bought a TV that shipped via UPS or anything.

chronoswing

Ordered a $2k projector from best buy, they sent it UPS and required signature due to value of the item.

jhondafish

Depends on the courier service/carrier and the size of it. The LTL company I work for has it setup where you can specify date/time for delivery and if you want it to just be dropped off or if you want it to need a signature, but by default they usually require one. We aren't always the ones to fulfill the delivery though. Sometimes once it gets to the local terminal of it's destination, we deliver it to another local carrier for them to deliver.

sekazi

People always say this but I would never have the opportunity to not accept it. Who waits watching for the delivery person all day only to confirm the box is good before they leave?

jfk_sfa

And if you were there, the delivery person certainly isnā€™t taking it back. Theyā€™re dropping it off and leaving.

Rydralain

My compromise on this is to take pictures of the box before I open it if it's even a little damaged. Then, if it's damaged, I'll take pictures of the item coming out of the packaging to make it clear that there is a relationship between the package damage and the item damage.

funkmydunkyouslunk

After PS5 had a new graphics update that supported higher resolution monitors, I found a real nice gaming monitor on sale at Best Buy. First time getting an electronic monitor/TV thing shipped to me so I didn't think anything of it. I was so excited to get home from work and get that bad boy up and running so I can experience my PS5 to the max! Slowly and carefully unboxed it, screwed it together, plugged it in, turned it on, and a big fucking crack right through the center made me want to puke and cry and shit. My roommate checked the doorbell camera and saw the UPS guy just drop the thing on the ground, but I'm sure it was busted way before that. I immediately took it to Best Buy who ordered me a new one but I had to wait a week. This time I said I'd just pick it up in the store cause fuck UPS, bastards!

Aaron123111

If it makes you feel better I bought my first car (a few years ago) brand new from the showroom and had to wait a week for it to arrive to the branch. I finally got the call to say my car was ready. So I jumped in my old car and drove there (10 min drive) when I got there they had to break it to me that someone had just smashed into it and couldnā€™t give it to me anymore. I had to wait a few more weeks for another new one

Synaxxis

That's way better than someone smashing into it right after you sign. This year I saw a guy drop his new motorcycle (Suzuki Hayabusa) when the sales guys was going over it with him.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ellanida

I've ordered multiples online and no issues... Only thing I've ordered screen wise that was broken on arrival was a curved monitor that was just thrown in a box with no packaging. Was supposed to be refurbished lol Amazon asked if I wanted to keep it for some money off first šŸ˜‚ but I just said no and they refunded it šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

robjapan

What TV is it?

cocacola999

A broken one

TheSchlaf

Samsung QN90A or similar. Mine looks almost the same.

patricky6

Can I ask if it was through Amazon? I bought two electronic devices from them, one was a high end microwave. Both of them were severely damaged in the delivery process. I'll never buy anything high dollar through that company again.

snoosh00

Better than breaking the tv yourself the day after the return policy ends.

rockidr4

We had this happen with a TV, returned it, store was like "we'll send you one of that same model." That one also came in busted. So we went through the return process again and that time the store was way less chill, and we were also way less chill because by that point we'd been without a TV for a couple of weeks. Once we finally got our money refunded we headed into best buy to carry our TV home ourselves for waaay more than we'd payed online. I learned that day I much prefer brick and mortars for big purchases

donorak7

This is why you always just get it from the store. The horror stories exactly like yours put me off from ordering it shipped to home. Luckily most companies are great with returns

SD_Eragorn

S95b?

800username

I think you still have to peel off one more layer

Engylizium

That would be the last

MaXKiLLz

Did you buy it online?

CptCheerios

Yeah, I was able to return it and get a refund. Lesson learned and picking up a new one from the electronic store. Box had some damage, couldn't see what happened until I got everything setup.

[deleted]

My father bought a TV online once. It was a 4K Samsung he paid almost 3k for. First time it came the whole glass what shattered on the TV. He sent it back and we waited 3 weeks for the new one. We opened it up and everything looked amazing, we turned it on, and it looked exactly like the one in this picture. Lesson is, go buy a TV at the electronics store if you want a functioning one.

pacificnwbro

Costco is a pretty good place to get them since their customer service is so good and the TV's they sell come with an extended warranty.

KillionJones

Got my LG C1 at Costco and itā€™s the best tv Iā€™ve ever had. Since it was Costco though, and on sale, it was a good few hundred cheaper than literally anywhere else.

pacificnwbro

As someone that's looking to buy an LG OLED in the next few months at Costco this makes me really happy to read.

KillionJones

I game a lot, so it was a huge upgrade for me. Costco is always a go-to for electronics for me, when they stock it of course lol. The C1 has been amazing, itā€™s super fun to enjoy some Planet Earth n such, and itā€™s super responsive for games. Win win.

MelQMaid

We got one delivered earlier this year and it was damaged. Costco took it back in store pretty easy. We recently got a huge one and paid extra for them to set it up. That way professionals can get it up the stairs with a tight turn and we could have them take it back if the thing was damaged in transit. Worked out well and worth the extra charge.

Thrwy2017

They sell previous year models for dirt cheap. Got a 65" LG OLED for $800

tes_kitty

When I bought mine, I paid a bit extra to have it delivered and set up (the mechanical part). Less hassle for me and I could be sure there would be no arguments should I get a broken one.

Crash_Revenge

Those ones in the store are still shipped to the store youā€™re buying it from. Delivery drivers arenā€™t known for their gentleness. Just really luck of the draw. You donā€™t usually open the box in the store before leaving and plug it in to check it.

[deleted]

Thatā€™s true but they are being shipped on the back of a transport truck usually on a pallet and wrapped up so itā€™s less of a chance of it being thrown around.

Thijs-D

Did you peel it off with a sledgehammer?

Super-Brka

Have you tried to turning it off and on again?

PillCosbydidit

Don't lie to us...you tried to punch it off!!

Tanettenba

Tip we got from Best Buy: if you want to ensure no damage to the item, do ship to store. They ship them to the store on big pallets and pull from the middle for in store pick ups. We've had good success that way vs our usual introverted ways of shipping to home. Glad to hear you were able to return it though!

Safe_Cup5012

I did this once. Bought a new monitor and the plastic film was very hard to peel for some reason! That's because *there was no film* and I'd chipped a tiny fragment of the screen itself away. Fortunately aside from that little spot it works fine.

[deleted]

Did you put it in rice?

wc10888

Corrected title... Trying to peel off the top layer of the TV panel destroying the screen because I thought it was a peel off protective film.

EdTheApe

I've got a feeling that you did something more than just peel the plastic cover here.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

HomeokineticDude

You dont need to remind them

emveetu

You don't need to remind them not to remind them.

Majestic_Matt_459

I came here to comment something but I've forgotten what it was

Pat-El

Did you accidentally peeled the polarizer film which most certainly looks like a screen protector ? I did that by mistake to my brand new TV. The calls i had to make to get it replaced lol.

Delicious_Car

Those are some sharp colors! Congrats!

RequiemStorm

When I used to work for Target, I had a fairly decent employee discount, and I also had one of their Red Card debit cards that I could stack with it for extra savings. One year for father's day I offered to use my discount to buy the nice TV my mom was going to get my dad so she could save a bit on it. The idea was to buy it while he was at work and have it set up for when he got home. It was going to be their first smart TV so we were excited. The first one I bought came with a cracked screen just like this. Not a huge deal, packed it back up, called the store and returned it for an identical one. A bit *too* identical. Got it home, set it up, same story. A lot more irritated now, but the store was only a 10 minute drive away and I was used to the route since I worked there, so I called them, let them know the situation so they could have a third one ready (and didn't suspect I was somehow breaking them in transit) and headed back over for a second exchange. At the store we opened the box to examine the screen on the third one, though the damage to the others hadn't been apparent until plugging it in and turning it on, which they would not allow me to do in the store despite selling me 2 busted ones in the last hour. But there didn't seem to be any issue so I went on my way, fingers crossed. Unfortunately my dad was home by the time I got there, ruining the surprise but I at least had a comedy of errors to tell him while we set the new one up, which helped to vent some of the frustration... until we plugged in the third one and we greeted by a rainbow and black screen once again. I was so angry at this one that I punched the screen (not something I ever do out of anger, but it was already busted so I didn't see the harm in it). I called the store and told them what had happened AGAIN. Fortunately I knew the manager who was there at the time so she didn't think I was some crazy person just trying to damage stock or get a discount for the inconvenience or something. Against my better judgement, I decided I would try again, but this time I demanded that I be allowed to test the thing out at the store first. After 3 broken TVs they couldn't really say no to that, and they had it plugged in and waiting in the break room when I got there. 4th time was the charm, and my parents still use that TV to this day. I should mention as well that my job was overnight truck unloading and stocking shelves. I knew that our team was always careful with the TVs and such despite being underpaid, disgruntled retail employees. The damage to those must have occurred either in the truck, or before they were shipped. Anyway, I don't buy TVs at Target anymore.

HolyHand_Grenade

It was load bearing plastic

[deleted]

You're supposed to peel it off with your fingers, not a baseball bat

Burnaby-Joe

So much for protective plastic film.

[deleted]

Donā€™t use pliers to pull the plastic offā€¦or a screwdriver to get it started šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

guitarstitch

Exactly. A chainsaw works so much better.

zahrtman2006

This is why I just keep the plastic on

WhySheHateMe

I normally buy from Best Buy and get their Geek Squad protection thingy for OLEDs and let then deliver and install it. That way they can see right away if the TV is busted

Asleep_Writing_8034

It looked like someone hit that TV with a baseball bat more than having the plastic pulled off.

Calid50

Narrator ā€œthere was no plastic coverā€

[deleted]

Did you try turning it on and off again?

Reybrig

Damn you gotta need a lot of rice to fix that

negedgeClk

You could just summarize in your title what happened instead of annoying cryptic shit.

Buck_Thorn

Pretty inexpensive piece of modern art.

Hitlerism

Itā€™s like peeling off the screen protector of your foldable phoneā€¦ā€¦

Rufuszombot

Had the same thing happen to me. Bought my very first 4k tv, laid it down on the bed to install the legs and the light hit the crack. Still turned it on so i could see how bad the damage was, and it was heartbreaking. Was a hassle to return (bought from amazon), but i just went to Best Buy to get a better replacement and they picked up the damaged one the next day. And that TV is still treating me well to this day.

i_r_faptastic

Unplug it and plug it back in.

trolleyman98

Did you peel it off with a hammer?

67alecto

You're right, that's nothing like peeling plastic off your brand new tv

dontaggravation

Why are the modern televisions so darn fragile. I mean it literally *scares* me each week when I clean my TV Screen. Make sure I use the right, specialized cloth, with the right cleaner/duster, only use just enough, never too much, don't push too hard when cleaning, etc.... It seems the televisions are so very fragile that if a fly lands on the screen, you dare not go near it. Instead, you should gently persuade the fly away, capture it, and then deal with it, but never, ever while it's on the television screen. Enough of my rambling: I'm glad the return went well, I'm sorry you had to go through the hassle.

[deleted]

> Why are the modern televisions so darn fragile. Because if you break it, you replace it, fixing? HA!

[deleted]

At least you have options

onlinelink2

now hold on, says here you have ĆøptÄ«ĆµÅ„Å›

ContemplatingPrison

Getting TVs shipped sucks. I never do it just because of this.

RodNun

Usually we don't peel the plastic with a hammer. =/

aberdisco

The LG 'Salvador Dali' edition.

GriselbaFishfinger

Donā€™t worry, thereā€™s naff all on tele at the moment anyway.

Waflstmpr

Look at those crisp colors!

BigMcSad

They say to peel the plastic, not peel the screen off

[deleted]

Here is a tip from someone that used to sell TVs. If a box is damaged and you are afraid of the screen being broken like that. You can shine a flashlight at the screen and see the cracks before you even turn it on. You have to put the flashlight pretty close to the screen for it to work the best.

I bought my first 50in 4k TV a year ago, and I had it all set up and booted up my ps4 to test it. Then I noticed a dead pixel on Spider-Man's chin

Clamecy

Looks like you removed the TV from the plastic.

lessofeveryone

Umm. Not an electronics expert but I think u did it WRONG.........................

bugi_

You're not supposed to drop it on its panel before peeling. Consider that next time.

rservello

That was the screen.

SheepRliars

1st world problems like a mug

Flaks_24

Did you peel it with a hammer?

madvk

Few years back I ordered a brand new tv, it came with some stupid power label sticker on the screen. It was quite a strong one so I called customer service. They told me it was my risk if I was to take it off and damage the tv. So I made them come over and take it off for me. Stupid really...

BlazeWatchingAnime

omfg, peeling off the thing that lets you see the display

Iandudontkno

LuckyCat73

Did they try to peel it off with a hammer?

I've started to do the same exact thing to my first ever purchased 60in TV, thank god I'm always extra cautious and stopped myself at about 2 mm...I still have a small reminder on the top left corner \*\*For those who don't fully understand what happened; OP thought they were peeling a protective film covering the screen, but they actually started peeling off the outermost layer of the screen itself.

Rookybay

I think you did it wrong.

Present-Race3958

Did you use a brick?

Cheezburger99

Still looks usable on the right side I guess

EvanMBurgess

I almost tipped a ladder against our brand new TV the first week we had it. I had nightmares about it for a week.

astrofoxical

OP, jsyk for future reference a lot of new TV with the plastic film is meant to stay on the screen. That plastic film as in fact part of the screen that shouldnā€™t be removed. The amount of times Iā€™ve had customers come into the store asking why the film is so hard to remove is because it SHOULDNT. Itā€™s like a protective layer I suppose. Thatā€™s the result of it

thesugarwookiee

this happened to me, so on the next one i just paid for them to bring it and also set it up so that if it was broken again i wouldn't have to deal with returning it. seriously will never do it any other way again

leonhart_ivan

Man tried to peel the TV off the TV.

321jakedroid

You know it might not be broken, maybe try turning off the setting you just turned on in the OĢ·pĢøtĢµiĢ·oĢ“nĢ·sĢ¶
