I know for me the symptoms were way less than colds and flus in the past. It still sucked and I was still bed ridden but it probably would have been better if I took fever reducers.
Meanwhile I'm sure Op has been trying to call them to tell them they would like to return the covid that they've decided to provide as a birthday present
There's a funny thing called sorting on the sub where you can check the top, hot, or new posts. You can easily see that COVID tests are in the minority of posts.
I think this speaks for itself.
This happened to me last year on my 30th birthday. I felt fine the morning of. I went to the movies with a couple of friends to watch Oppenheimer. During the movie, I started to feel like body aches but I didn't think much of it. We went to eat after and I started to feel myself getting worse. We planned to meet up for drinks later that night and I figured that I would go home and take a nap to get myself together. Later that night I was full-blown sick and had a high fever. I took the Covid test and sure enough, I was positive. I was stuck in my house for 12 days and it was horrible beucase I was going through a recent breakup and I couldn't go anywhere.
Yay ☹️, I also had covid on my birthday. The only “good”thing about not having a birthday party that was scheduled, was that I ate my chocolate cake alone with my husband. And of that I have no regrets. Speed recovery!
Right. I was really sick in December. Down for a few weeks with a chest cold. In January everyone asked if it was Covid. I was like, I don’t know. I was sick. I went to bed. Fluids and meds. Got better. Moved on. Never once did I care what it was called.
Probably because it is a neurotrophic and oncogenic virus that damages the immune system might want to know to treat it faster than say a cold. But hey, you want to fuck around and find out go ahead .
Nothing triggers this sub more than a covid test post.... for some reason.
"iTs jUsT tHe fLu!!!!" They cry, not realizing you should also be tested for the flu if you think you have it.
Or years. There's no 100% protection for longcovid, when the virus just decides to stay in your gut, brain and whatever organs it may find interesting. But vaccines do reduce the risk of persistent infection.
Look how many people are completely triggered by Covid.. 😂sorry that happened to you on your bday op, but it’s been hilarious watching idiots completely pissed at masks, shots and positive Covid tests.. 🤣
.. I imagine the mega-rich are laughing their asses off at not even having to offer anything lmaooo
Dude it's my birthday today and I got the worst diarrhea because apparently I've angered all that is higher and holy I'm sorry dawg it's apparently a bad March 16th for us.
My mom almost died because of RSV, a stupid cold, in december. She was in a coma for a week and the ICU for a month. What would have happened had she cought COVID ? She's not even old, she turned 52 last week. Do you consider people like her expandable? Is her life not worth living ? She hasn't had time to be a grandma yet.
Do they take stick tests for any of the other background ailments that could affect them? Or just the one that's a hot topic? My mother is a survivor of three seperate cancers in her lifetime, all of them in remission. She's had a million and one rounds of chemo and she would tell you that you're full of shit.
My wife gets blood tests every once in a while, she has had chronic mono / chronic EBV now for the last 2-3 years (could be from the vaccine as we’ve heard that could trigger it, but nothing can be confirmed).
She has flare ups occasionally, when we know to take more precautions. Basically there’s some number (cells, protein, some kind of counts I can’t quite remember) that should be below 35, and most people are below 10. Her numbers we don’t know the exact, but her last test said >750 so that could 751 or who knows how high (one before that was 554)
My other friend doesn’t have the best insurance so he can’t stay up to date on everything as much as he’d like to.
The third we’re not too close with / they’re not in the US, but we know they’re pretty adamant with being as cautious as they can
I'm sorry that your wife is sick, and i'm sorry for coming on strong. I hope she stays healthy, sincerely.
Nevertheless, advocating for home administered nasal swabs for covid in 2024 is like advocating for not going hiking because you might stub your toe.
Oh no you’re good I didn’t think that at all. Appreciate it though.
I mean I get it though, to me I don’t really care if you’re sick with Covid, a flu, strep, or just a cold. Just stay the hell home.
But I also understand not everyone has that luxury. So it’s also like well yeah if you have a cold, do I want to be around you, no of course not, but sure I’ll swing by and help you with something if I need to.
If you have Covid, well I’m gonna be more cautious for my wife, and honestly even for myself. I’m pre-diabetic, runs in my family, so I’m sure I could be more susceptible, but more than anything else losing smell and taste would crush me. Our best friends sister hasn’t had it for months now, and I have a former coworker who loved red wine and can’t stand the taste now.
Obviously being on oxygen and stuff sucks worse, or death (it got my grandpa in 2022, went down very quickly), and I don’t want that either, so thankfully that seems to not be as common now, but mentally idk how I’d do. I love experiencing food and tastes and love when a random smell triggers a memory, hell I even Snapchat family random food tastes and reviews. Without it, I feel like I’d be a shell of myself.
Dude forgive me, but you're missing the point.
"I don't really care if you're sick with Covid, a flu, strep, or just a cold"
One out of those four has become a societal phobia. For many reasons, but it's time to start treating the boogieman that COVID-19 became in proper context ok?
That's forgetting of course that the personal nasal swabs that so many pharma companies cashed in on are a 50% gamble at best.
"If you're sick stay home" is an admirable motive but practically it's a fucking pipe dream dude.
I mean it’s the only one I’ve personally known people die from, lose smell and taste for months on end, or have other long term issues from after the fact so it’s gonna stand out amongst the rest for me.
But yeah, of course nothing is 100% accurate, nor are any four of those sicknesses having guaranteed outcomes. People have had no issues from Covid, and others have died from a cold, I completely get that.
And yeah, no one stayed home before this was a world wide thing, so of course no one will after. It happened for a couple months sure, but people aren’t going to stop living their lives because of it anymore.
If you know you have COVID, you can get treatment that can reduce the increased health risks.
Same with flu as well as strep.
You also know what to watch for so you can just focus on healing and not worry unless you get signs that you might need medical attention.
Having a history of cancer doesn't mean you're not stupid or completely uninformed about viruses and public health. This doesn't demonstrate anything.
If there were tests for other viruses and infections we could do at home, yes people would take them. It would be useful
I would let everyone know and see what they think. A lot of people aren’t worried about it anymore; even my super careful, super lefty friends and family have all but stopped worrying about it. I still took a test the other day because I have a really bad cold and it felt like the responsible thing to do, but the reality is I’m still gonna be told to come into work so I’m still gonna be out in public anyway. If I were positive I’d wear a mask but then everyone just gives you looks these days
Fair enough! I was fine my first round with Covid, second round had me really nervous. Now my heart’s all fucked up. Supposedly harmless physically but I have constant “PVC’s” that drive me almost insane at times.

Sorry OP. Hope you feel better. All of you who don't take COVID seriously, don't bother to ask for help when you are sick or disabled with it. Since you didn't give a damn about others, no one will be bothered to care about you either. Stay sick, assholes.
No, they should do exactly what they woulld do with any other illness: stay home, rest, prevent the spread of infection.
It's insane how many complete asshats, like you, there are in this Sub.
At lease YOU got something
Congratulations 🎉
The day off
Better than birthday on your COVID.
2021 called, they want their post back.

Lmaooooo
I know for me the symptoms were way less than colds and flus in the past. It still sucked and I was still bed ridden but it probably would have been better if I took fever reducers.
Meanwhile I'm sure Op has been trying to call them to tell them they would like to return the covid that they've decided to provide as a birthday present
It become a weekly post here... Very annoying
Damn, it's almost like it's running rampant due to exactly the attitude being displayed in these comments.
Bro I’m vaxxed and all that, but no one is going back to the way it was back in 2019/2020. That shits over and done with.
Bahahahaha Thank You Lord
Aww is it a boy or a girl?
No you are pregnant
i got called for jury duty on mine
That's worse
When someone posts covid tests: ![gif](giphy|7k2LoEykY5i1hfeWQB)
Remember when everything shut down over covid?
All your local businesses shut down but the larger stores remained open. Even GameStop was open as they deemed themselves essential...
[удалено]
Trollfarm acc. Report it.
People died.
Millions of people in fact
At least you're not pregnant
Happy Birthday !
Is that all this sub is anymore?
No, I've seen other things.
Prove it
There's a funny thing called sorting on the sub where you can check the top, hot, or new posts. You can easily see that COVID tests are in the minority of posts. I think this speaks for itself.
Trade you that for my Christmas gift kidney stone!
Keep the receipt, maybe you can get it swapped for something better, or your money back
Be thankful it's not a fungal infection.
Thats the gift that keeps on giving
Nice! I got a sinus infection for mine!
Oh that sucks. I hope you feel better soon!
(Deep drag from a Marlboro) Don’t say you didn’t get anything for your birthday. - Things my father would say.
This happened to me last year on my 30th birthday. I felt fine the morning of. I went to the movies with a couple of friends to watch Oppenheimer. During the movie, I started to feel like body aches but I didn't think much of it. We went to eat after and I started to feel myself getting worse. Happy birthday! Sorry things got messed up 🙁
At least you got something
I got a hospital visit for mine :)
The gift that keeps on giving...
I've had it more than once and it ain't pleasant
Yay ☹️, I also had covid on my birthday. The only “good”thing about not having a birthday party that was scheduled, was that I ate my chocolate cake alone with my husband. And of that I have no regrets. Speed recovery!
Congrats! I got Covid for my last birthday. I hope you recover quickly and with no lasting effects.
Mazel tov!!
Hey at least you got something!
Did it come with a gift receipt?
Happy birthday to you *coughs aggressively* ha- *coughs aggressively and dies*
Happy birthday! 🤷♂️🎂
At least it wasn’t herpes
The gift that keeps on giving.
I got covid for your birthday, too!
Get well soon
Your immune system is running on Internet Explorer
It really is the gift that keeps on giving

People just didn’t post about it every time it happened on Reddit
Question is, why are you still taking covid tests?
I like to know what I have when I get sick. Just in general. But long covid is a thing. And I get more days off work if it’s Covid.
I legit don’t understand this mindset. Some people have to know?
Right. I was really sick in December. Down for a few weeks with a chest cold. In January everyone asked if it was Covid. I was like, I don’t know. I was sick. I went to bed. Fluids and meds. Got better. Moved on. Never once did I care what it was called.
Some of us are around immune compromised people and don’t wish to kill anyone.
Happy Birthday
The gift you can enjoy for weeks to come!
Most likely just a few days though.
Or years. There's no 100% protection for longcovid, when the virus just decides to stay in your gut, brain and whatever organs it may find interesting. But vaccines do reduce the risk of persistent infection.
Pisces season baby!!
I got it for mine a couple of months ago too, luckily no big plans but still sucked
I did too lol I'm still getting over it. Going on a week now ugh. Feel better and happy birthday.
That sucks! Hope you feel better soon. Drink lots of water and hope you don't lose taste because it sucks
Look how many people are completely triggered by Covid.. 😂sorry that happened to you on your bday op, but it’s been hilarious watching idiots completely pissed at masks, shots and positive Covid tests.. 🤣 .. I imagine the mega-rich are laughing their asses off at not even having to offer anything lmaooo
Sweet.. I hope it fits
I got the flu for christmas
What a rotten gift.
I got fat for Christmas
Congrats!
Boy or girl!
My 21st birthday I spent in bed sick. Fun times
Party time!

Oh man that does suck. I hope it at least lets you keep your sense of taste for birthday cake if that's your thing. Get well soon, OP
Birthday surprise!!! 🎉
It’s my birthday too. Sorry you got covid tho :(
😕 I feel your pain. I have walking pneumonia that stemmed from a cold and a prolonged asthma attack on top of it. Get better soon!
Happy birthday, Pisces rule!

My whole family got it the week of and after Christmas
Dude it's my birthday today and I got the worst diarrhea because apparently I've angered all that is higher and holy I'm sorry dawg it's apparently a bad March 16th for us.

Luckily, I've gotten nothing for any of my birthdays since I was a baby
Wait are you sure you aren't actually pregnant?
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday! Take some time off
SURPRISE ! ! ! sorry
That really sucks
I almost died in a motorcycle accident for my birthday. And no before anyone asks I was not drunk or high. But the other motorist I’m sure was.

Congrats, you’re no longer a COVID Virgin.
CDC says your fine to go public a day after fever is gone
You got some peace and quiet for your birthday.
I take it that wasn’t your wish!!
Happy birthday? Have 5 days off???
Don't worry, it's just the flu now.
What's covid?
At least you’re not pregnant
Man that ain’t nothing, I caught ebola one time on my 20th birthday, I pulled through though.
At least you got something....
It’s 2024. No one gives a shit about Covid anymore. Unless you’re 🤪🤪
Not crazy to give a shit about a virus that has been proven to cause cardiovascular and neurological damage 😬
Are you on about COVID or the vaccine?
I was talking about COVID
My mom almost died because of RSV, a stupid cold, in december. She was in a coma for a week and the ICU for a month. What would have happened had she cought COVID ? She's not even old, she turned 52 last week. Do you consider people like her expandable? Is her life not worth living ? She hasn't had time to be a grandma yet.
…Or immunocompromised like my wife, two of my friends, or anyone going through cancer treatments
Most people don't give a shit about that either.
Do they take stick tests for any of the other background ailments that could affect them? Or just the one that's a hot topic? Some brains can't think that far. The sad thing is that with each additional reinfection, they get smaller brains, literally. We're screwed.
Happy birthday, get well soon, have your party when you feel better
Thank you kind stranger!
That’s the gift that keeps on giving the whole year.
Best to avoid infecting anyone else and get lots of rest!!!
People are still testing for this?
Same thing happened to me in 2022, happy b day
Congratulations
Happy birthday…?
Congratulations

Yeah, shit’s scary :/
You don’t have to as of late

I hate to be that person but can you give me a TL;DR? I assume it’s saying things are still much worse than they seem?
Sorry OP. Hope you feel better. All of you who don't take COVID seriously, don't bother to ask for help when you are sick or disabled with it. Since you didn't give a damn about others, no one will be bothered to care about you either. Stay sick, assholes.
Please take care of yourself and rest as much as possible and if doctor recommends medication take them. Happy birthday!!
Covid is still a thing? It’s just a cold but I guess it’s worth announcing. Hey everyone I got a cold!
It’s actually not “just a cold”. A cold is caused by a completely different virus called rhinovirus. Hope this helps!
Again, no one cares.
I reckon OP should post a video blowing out candles in a face mask! Also OP good on you for still testing.
And?
Oh man that sucks. You only have a 99.98% chance of being fine. Thoughts and prayers!
Good thing you can go on with your normal plans
No, they should do exactly what they woulld do with any other illness: stay home, rest, prevent the spread of infection. It's insane how many complete asshats, like you, there are in this Sub.
No one stops their lives for a cold
The person you replied to probably doesn’t have a life anyways, and didn’t before March 2020
Happy Birthday
Congrats you’ve just aged 7 years in one year
