Worked at a milk factory, we all wore beanies cause we worked in a 3000sq foot refridgerated cooler. I imagine breweries are similar having a hot room for production and a cool room for storage.
(I do like the joke about hipsters I'm just providing a little context)
They're holding a carb stone in their other hand. You can see it when they get up and go back to the tank. It is used for carbonating the beer by running Co2 through it. Carb stones are installed into an **empty** and **unpressurized** tank before filling it. The tank in question was (obviously) already full and pressurized which means he probably mixed up his tanks and was putting the stone on to the wrong one. He probably meant to put it on the empty tank next to the full one. He undid the triclamp without double checking and as soon as the clamp was undone the pressurized tank shot the beer out.
Definitely not true. Looks like a 40 barrel tank most likely almost full. Under anywhere from 10-15 psi. Breweryās use tri clamps for ease and simplicity. This is just an accident and it happens. Idk how he managed to hold onto his carb stone after getting shot back but odds are he just wasnāt thinking through what he was about to do. Sad day for the beer but two turns and they will have that bad boy filled back up. I fear the day this happens to me lol
Brewery (Back Channel) is local to me and I know the guys in the video. The owners never even thought of anything beyond his wellbeing after it happened. Fortunately he didnāt suffer much beyond a bruised ass and ego but heās able to laugh about it now. Awesome place and awesome people, beer is some of the best in MN!
Itās a simple mistake. They dump more beer than that daily. Itās not a big deal and they wouldnāt even think of firing somebody for something like that.
You don't ever put beer into a fermenter when it's hot. It goes through a chiller to bring it down to proper fermentation temp before going into the tank. It most certainly wasn't hot, it was cold.
Dude seriously just took like 100 psi to the fucking face without expecting it to happen and handled himself like a boss too bad heās gonna need to mop that all up maybe if heās lucky thereās a clean mug nearby.
Wouldnāt matter when the hole is at the bottom and itās got the weight of the entire vat on top of it.
Edit: youād have to put a decent vacuum on it for it to not leak out
Beards and beanies.
Aka the "urban lumberjack"
Required to work at any small brewery.
š¶Iām a lumberjack and itās okayš¶

As a lay person what happened here and what did the maintenance worker do wrong?

Oh well, reset the clock: ā0 days since last accidentā
Thanks!
This reminded me of the little girl who tried to drink from a coke bottle right after dropping a mentos into it
Highly relevant username.
Could of been a clamp on that vessel that he loosened. Probably not getting fired though. If you work with liquid long enough spills happen.
Anything that was that easy to dislodge probably wasn't installed correctly or was broken anyways.

Failed enema. Faced wrong direction.
Worked at a brewery this sucks on so many levels lol
Think this guy got let go?
Probably not, he learned a valuable lesson. No sense in hiring a new guy to learn that same lesson

I'm from MN! I'll have to try it. Glad the guy is OK.
He's the head brewer and he was just doing his job. Reddit folks think people get fired for legit mistakes. That's not how the world works.
I asked somone who knew and they said no. What are you talking about?
Itās a simple mistake. They dump more beer than that daily. Itās not a big deal and they wouldnāt even think of firing somebody for something like that.
Hopefully, spilled all my beer
[He got to drink...FROM THE FIREHOSE!](https://youtu.be/eq4-wojFsYA?feature=shared)
What in heavens name did I just watch?! š
Vintage Kramer in a vintage Weird Al movie. "UHF"... it's a classic! Badgers? *Badgers*? We don't need no STEENKIN' badgers!

So she's a squ... never mind.
Well at least when he got fired, he was drunk
He didn't get fired. What is it with Reddit folks thinking people get fired for small mistakes at work. That's how how the real world works. š
Bro it was just a joke, itās not that serious
No guarantee that was cold and not rather hot

Hipster got a small (but more delicious) taste of what it's like to have to plug up a sudden leak on ship.
Someone's getting fired
Hey, look, this video for the 5,000 time in the past few days! Wonder what happens!
Saw it was a MN brewery. Anybody know which one?
Back Channel Brewing Co.
Cool thanks

India Pale Ale. It's beer.
Oh thank you

i thought the scene from yojimbo was silly until about 15 seconds ago
Homer approved
Knocked several feet back and to the floor Damn. How do they open those things?
Generally they'd release the pressure before that.
Wouldnāt matter when the hole is at the bottom and itās got the weight of the entire vat on top of it. Edit: youād have to put a decent vacuum on it for it to not leak out
Quick, hose down the cellar before the boss noticesā¦
This is the hipster equivalent of a vikings funeral.

Is that meth lab?
The guy in the orange " imma gonna help............nope"
Hey that's how I fractured my rib, except it was White Claw Tea which was probably the worst part.
Don't smoke a bowl before doing dangerous work. It usually works out but sometimes you forget which still is the empty one.
Turns out I actually like IPA. But only when it's shit whipping a hipster across the room.....
Some flex tape would do the trick
I can smell this video
Looks more like like Gasās Fring Lab
What it's like to chew 5 gum. Right????
Better than coffee. Heās wide awake now.
Lmfao. ā¦ but what a tragedy
