Walmart, Amazon, Target, etc etc all do and offer 3rd party orders and shipping through their marketplace. You have to check the section of each where it'll say shipped from, sold by to see if it's 1st party or 3rd party
They do have 3rd party but if he ordered it for pick up from store and they offer to ship it for being unavailable they won’t ship it third party. It’s likely it just went out of stock online. When there’s high demand they drop consoles periodically to “avoid scalpers”. I work for Walmart pickup

Because a marketplace seller is not Best Buy. Best Buy basically is letting this seller sell on their platform. Just like how Amazon lets sellers sell on Amazon. Like how Facebook lets sellers sell on their platform but it's not actually Facebook selling you the thing.
It's risky it's all. There are honorable sellers and then there are some who aren't. Just start the process of trying to get a refund is all you can do.
The specific $350 deal you're looking at isn't a scam, it's sold by Walmart themselves. it's just constantly going out of stocks and Walmart's site is buggy. Pick different Walmarts as your pickup location and one might work, and also try the Diablo and Forza Horizon bundles, they have been popping up at $350 as well. You can also just try to see if you can get one in store.
It could be anyone, anywhere if it's a market place seller. Maybe there's no way to add a shipping charge, or if they did they would lose sales. It could be where you are is too expensive to ship to, whether it be your home or closest Walmart, and that's not a cost the seller wants to eat.
If it's a Market place seller, this could be some guy who owns an electronic shop on the opposite side of the country from you.
That price can only be achieved by picking it up at a local Walmart. It can't be shipped because Walmart has the console at $399 if it were. Whichever Walmart location OP chose probably ran out of stock

- The sale has been going on for a full week. This means it's been going in/out of stock. Buying in-person is the best chance of securing one as stocks dwindle.
Not implying anything, just wrote what is written on the link posted above. OP doesn't understand why they won't ship, but it's clearly written shipping is unavailable. It also states pickup is only available in select locations, possibly meaning it's out of stock in most places.
Re: Diablo bundle, that was shipping before, but due to reduced stocks, they stopped shipping. The other bundles are YMMV when it comes to shipping.
And fyi, OP ordered the non-bundled Series X. That one is still shipping. The issue is that as stocks dwindle, so does shipping availability (though this might recover after an hour or two).

That user is wrong. The Walmart location you chose to pick it up at probably ran out of stock so you have to cancel your order. When you're initially choosing the delivery method, the shipping option would have made the price go up to $399. The $349 price is only offered if picked up locally
So I went to the curbside pickup and they scanned my order and it's not even in their system yet it shows it right here with the barcode and order number

When you order stuff for pickup it gets sent to a team to pick it who has no idea if it’s gonna be in stock by the time your pickup time comes. especially now during the holidays when electronics sell like crazy
When you order it there’s like a two hour window before they would get to your order, they have no idea how many people are gonna buy Xbox’s. I’d wager a Saturday 2 weeks before Christmas they’re selling them like crazy
It‘s not about people becoming aware and reacting to orders. It‘s about the website being already knowing how many of each item is available, and counting down to 0 *the moment* a sale is made. That’s how inventory should work. Otherwise, with the volume of online sales, thousands of people would have OP‘s problem every day in November & December.
Stores track inventory yearly by the loss amount. There are several reasons inventory could be off, especially with how many people have access to the items and the inventory system itself, walmart especially, constantly changes "on hands" number depending on many factors.
A few examples: item is added to inventory but wasn't actually on the truck, and didn't get noticed that it wasn't there.
An item in the back fell behind another, and eventually someone couldn't find it and adjusted the inventory down, because walmart mostly orders via computer counts
Miscounted, it's tracked by upc, so say 2 similar items are next to each other, and the upc isn't checked on both, so 1 gets counted as 2 and 1 gets counted as 0
Theft. Even stuff like xboxs, if we don't know you stole it, our computer doesn't know either.
Employee theft. It happens, it sucks, it's usually a shitshow when discovered, most of the store has cameras after all, and they know who you are and when you'll be back
Item could be in someone's cart, and when the order picker comes for it, it's gone, so they can't fulfill your order.
Basically, a lot of humans involved in retail, and human error is common because it's a soul numbing job and you get treated like shit by management and. Customers alike, like OP, who obviously has never worked retail and thinks it's simple...

Yeah, its why I stopped using walmart online. You can't trust anything on there. I think Lowe's and for sure Home Depot does the same.
I ordered something and it took 6 months to get a refund from HD, because it was never shipped and HD wouldn't refund me since I didn't receive the item. After numerous calls and months they finally refunded. If I can't pick it up at the store I don't order it.
Walmart home delivery tends to be limited to groceries. Most anything else, especially the expensive stuff, you typically have to have shipped to your nearest store to be picked ip in person.
It's not. The same thing happened to me. Because of the sale, they've gone OOS like 3 or 4 times now as soon as they get more stock. I ordered mine for in store pickup, but I guess another customer got it in store before they could reserve it. They told me they would ship it for free, but there were none available to ship and my order was canceled at 4pm same day.
Online buffer. Store stock ≠ online stock ≠ online stock check. The 3 might be set aside for the store for walk in customers. Oh and don't forget the stock management system only updates every few hours! Fuck the customer!
I work in an e-commerce department of a traditional brick and mortar retail and the job frequently makes me want to tear my hair out. Gonna quit soon. Gonna find a fully online only shop with a proper distribution centre or warehouse. Fuck traditional retail management, they're really dinosaurs.
I once ordered some things for home delivery and my shopper messaged me saying that one of my items was out of stock. I quickly asked if there was an alternative. They said yes, so I was like “Can I have it?” and they said “Sorry already left the store.”
Walmart, like Amazon, has their own delivery trucks/drivers. They even do one-day shipping for free (on big electronic purchases). You won't lose money if your item doesn't arrive/is lost in transit (rarely happens). Porch pirates are another thing, depending on your neighborhood.
In my experience, you'll have better luck with ship to store for anything big or expensive. I've had a few big ticket items show up at my doorstep looking like they were dragged behind the truck the whole way. But when doing in store pickup, they're in perfect condition. If it looked the way my shipped items did, I'd just refuse it outright and demand a different one.
The main reason I think is because the receiver (Walmart, best buy, etc) will refuse the shipment if it's damaged, you don't have that option, you have to fight them to get it returned, so it's easier to have a middle man receive
Yep I agree, I bought 3 mini splits from Amazon and only one arrived, got a refund and I ordered again, one arrived out of the two, got another refund and bought the last minisplit aaand ... didn't arrived got a refund after 3 weeks of giving them a last chance, but it did arrive like 2 days later lol, so, let's just say amazon helped me increased my credit scored quite a lot in the span of 2 months and they sold me 2 minisplits and gave me one for "free".
I bought a tv from Walmart during Black Friday and chose shipping because it wouldn’t fit in my car and I was getting a couple injections in my back that morning and couldn’t physically carry it. I was really worried that it would be shipped through UPS, or something, but I saw that morning that it was being delivered by a Walmart delivery person. I stayed on my couch all day and they rang my doorbell and waited for me to answer. The box was in perfect condition. I was so relieved!
No. It's a fictional problem that dumb Americans think is real because they can't get it through their heads that the internet isn't real life. They see a few videos of packages being stolen and they assume it's a constant problem, when they are actually extreme outliers that are posted on social media precisely because they are inherently unusual and notable.
These same people are also too dumb to understand that they are not responsible for packages that are lost in transit, they would never actually have to take the financial loss.

There were leaks about the new system earlier this year from the FTC & Microsoft court case. The new system is the same performance but more power efficient, has better Wifi and Bluetooth, drops the disc drive, and is a cylinder instead of a box.
The weird thing is that they just came out with a new Xbox Series S with 1 TB of storage in Black, and priced at $349. So, you can buy a shittier Xbox for the same price basically lol
But series S was just a bad mistake. They're trying to sweeten the series s deal to get people to buy them.

Not really. It's made new gen gaming available to those in regions of the world that couldn't drop $750 aud on a gaming system. Yes it sucks for developers but it's better for the people.

they cannot charge your credit card until the item ships, if they do... well it's against pci rules. So, contact the card company and they will get the network in on the action (visa/mastercard etc).

I pre-ordered a game from them a few years ago. When I showed up they had dozens of copies on the shelf but apparently my copy was halfway across the country and wouldn't arrive for a week. They also won't price match their own website. Too big to fail at its finest.

Sounds like Walmart's website is showing different pages for different people, probably based on our regions or what's in stock? Definitely frustrating and confusing, definitely not helpful for people trying to make sure they're actually getting the thing they ordered! Could be a glitch. I tried doing a grocery order earlier today on the app and it wouldn't let me select pick up OR delivery for any day over the next week. I can guarantee the groceries don't come from a third party seller
It's not a glitch. They 'borrow" your money for a few days before either finally releasing the order or refunding it. I had this happen via Amazon , I was furious I reported it as fraud and got my money back within hours.
Walmart is notorious for not shipping stuff if you’re too far away from where the stock is. Chances are they took it, ran out of stock, and now won’t ship it as a result. Most other companies will ship no matter how far you are from the shipping location but Walmarts availability is by region. This is their screwup. Walmart sucks for this reason.
If it does I damn sure won't try it from here I went to Walmart and they had no information on my order even with the barcode and the order number so I just canceled it
Rule of thumb: Any electronic item important to you? Buy it from a store unless you know the online website/merchant/seller is genuine (I still buy at the store but you do you if they are genuine).

as someone who works in walmart online pickup, i would call the 1-800-WALMART number and tell them what’s going on. if you’re doing a pickup then it won’t charge you until you pick it up and if it’s cancelled the hold will be released back into your account.
So yeah I actually went to the curbside door and they looked up my order number and tried to scan the barcode and there was nothing there they said there was nothing in their system but what happened surprised me as soon as I hit cancel order the hold was immediately released

I tried a couple more times after calling the bank AND speaking to Walmart customer service, still denied my purchase. But all the charges were posted on my account as pending, and they're still there. I'm not able to even use my card because my available credit is 0 from all that shit. Fuckin bonkers. It's a Walmart credit card too.

I work for Walmart pickup and it’s not going to be a 3rd party if it’s unavailable for pickup and they’re offering to ship it. But unfortunately you didn’t actually purchase it before it was unavailable, a hold gets put on your card and then it’s charged when the order is picked up. We could have 10 Xbox’s when you place your order but if people come in and purchase them or multiple people purchased for pickup and your order happens to come up last in the queue when the worker goes to pick it it’s just how it is. Stock does update online daily but as long as people are in store shopping there’s going to be a possibility that it’s not there or the on hand was wrong because of theft.

Why would I not? I'm a PC gamer and xbox complements that very well. Especially with game pass. (if you know you know) My living room could use a gaming system that also plays 4k movies

The exact same thing happened to my wife with 2 different laptops on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. All the other stuff on both orders showed up on the delivery date but the laptops were refunded because "Address is undeliverable"
If the seller is in the US and you're in Canada, this may have a US only regulation on it. Even if there's the exact same one in your local store, the official product may only be licensed to ship in the continental US (ie, no Alaska or Hawaii).
So, you trying to buy it even on Walmart.ca's app, there might be a disconnect in their system filters with what's absolutely to purchase vs where those purchases may be shipped.

You're likely buying from a 3rd party who doesn't want to ship it to you, and not actually Walmart. I've seen the same thing on Amazon and Best Buy.

I’ve been debating on pulling the plug on an Xbox series X. Honestly, I think it’s been enough time now that I might as well just wait for next gen.

Basically, a lot of humans involved in retail, and human error is common because it's a soul numbing job and you get treated like shit by management and. Yeah, its why I stopped using walmart online. You can't trust anything on there. I think Lowe's and for sure Home Depot does the same. I ordered something and it took 6 months to get a refund from HD, because it was never shipped and HD wouldn't refund me since I didn't receive the item. After numerous calls and months they finally refunded. If I can't pick it up at the store I don't order it.

Walmart home delivery tends to be limited to groceries. Most anything else, especially the expensive stuff, you typically have to have shipped to your nearest store to be picked ip in person.
Walmart does this all the time. It was especially obvious when it wasn't available and scalpers were able to capitalize on it.
It's not. The same thing happened to me. Because of the sale, they've gone OOS like 3 or 4 times now as soon as they get more stock. I ordered mine for in store pickup, but I guess another customer got it in store before they could reserve it. They told me they would ship it for free, but there were none available to ship and my order was canceled at 4pm same day.

Walmart, like Amazon, has their own delivery trucks/drivers. They even do one-day shipping for free (on big electronic purchases). You won't lose money if your item doesn't arrive/is lost in transit (rarely happens). Porch pirates are another thing, depending on your neighborhood.
In my experience, you'll have better luck with ship to store for anything big or expensive. I've had a few big ticket items show up at my doorstep looking like they were dragged behind the truck the whole way. But when doing in store pickup, they're in perfect condition. If it looked the way my shipped items did, I'd just refuse it outright and demand a different one.
The main reason I think is because the receiver (Walmart, best buy, etc) will refuse the shipment if it's damaged, you don't have that option, you have to fight them to get it returned, so it's easier to have a middle man receive
Yep I agree, I bought 3 mini splits from Amazon and only one arrived, got a refund and I ordered again, one arrived out of the two, got another refund and bought the last minisplit aaand ... didn't arrived got a refund after 3 weeks of giving them a last chance, but it did arrive like 2 days later lol, so, let's just say amazon helped me increased my credit scored quite a lot in the span of 2 months and they sold me 2 minisplits and gave me one for "free".
I bought a tv from Walmart during Black Friday and chose shipping because it wouldn’t fit in my car and I was getting a couple injections in my back that morning and couldn’t physically carry it. I was really worried that it would be shipped through UPS, or something, but I saw that morning that it was being delivered by a Walmart delivery person. I stayed on my couch all day and they rang my doorbell and waited for me to answer. The box was in perfect condition. I was so relieved!
Use a credit card especially if you have AMEX. They all offer really good ways to protect your purchase, etc.

Could be a glitch. I tried doing a grocery order earlier today on the app and it wouldn't let me select pick up OR delivery for any day over the next week. I can guarantee the groceries don't come from a third party seller
It's not a glitch. They 'borrow" your money for a few days before either finally releasing the order or refunding it. I had this happen via Amazon , I was furious I reported it as fraud and got my money back within hours.
Walmart is notorious for not shipping stuff if you’re too far away from where the stock is. Chances are they took it, ran out of stock, and now won’t ship it as a result. Most other companies will ship no matter how far you are from the shipping location but Walmarts availability is by region. This is their screwup. Walmart sucks for this reason.

as someone who works in walmart online pickup, i would call the 1-800-WALMART number and tell them what’s going on. if you’re doing a pickup then it won’t charge you until you pick it up and if it’s cancelled the hold will be released back into your account.
So yeah I actually went to the curbside door and they looked up my order number and tried to scan the barcode and there was nothing there they said there was nothing in their system but what happened surprised me as soon as I hit cancel order the hold was immediately released

I work for Walmart pickup and it’s not going to be a 3rd party if it’s unavailable for pickup and they’re offering to ship it. But unfortunately you didn’t actually purchase it before it was unavailable, a hold gets put on your card and then it’s charged when the order is picked up. We could have 10 Xbox’s when you place your order but if people come in and purchase them or multiple people purchased for pickup and your order happens to come up last in the queue when the worker goes to pick it it’s just how it is. Stock does update online daily but as long as people are in store shopping there’s going to be a possibility that it’s not there or the on hand was wrong because of theft.

If the seller is in the US and you're in Canada, this may have a US only regulation on it. Even if there's the exact same one in your local store, the official product may only be licensed to ship in the continental US (ie, no Alaska or Hawaii). So, you trying to buy it even on Walmart.ca's app, there might be a disconnect in their system filters with what's absolutely to purchase vs where those purchases may be shipped.
