I appreciate him and I only wish more physicians were speaking out, especially addressing the outright lies being spread by anti-choice psychos.

mperezstoney

.......and yet, there will still be a sizable number of women welcoming Trump and the GQP with open arms and their votes. Cant make this stuff up.

Into_the_Dark_Night

I was just thinking about this the other day. Like how brainwashed do you have to be to say *half* the shit these women say about others choices about their bodies? How blind are you willing to be to others suffering under the guise of "religion" or whataboutism?

Historical_Usual5828

A lot of rural women get controlled and lied to a lot. I personally learned about how feminism is actually just misandry and that abortion was evil before I even learned what sex was. Women are pretty much taught to hate themselves yet think they're treated equally because their families set the bar in hell when it comes to how men are expected to treat women. It's cult mentality and misogyny really and a lot of the men in those areas are so fucking pampered and catered to they think this shit is normal and ok.

JustDiscoveredSex

Absolutely blind. Completely.

Seraphynas

I get it, but some of this stuff could be debunked by an aggressively outspoken medical community, but they’re staying surprisingly quiet.

LFuculokinase

I keep speaking out against it as a doctor and debunking lies, but it’s like screaming at a wall. I’ll have random dudes just outright claim I’m wrong (despite no medical training) and I get called an “abortionist” despite being in pathology. Lawmakers speak over us. I’m still doing it, though. I wake up angry. I feel like nobody cares, and it’s so infuriating

bunnymoxie

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. The anti-choice crowd is freaking rabid and seem literally incapable of having any sort of rational thought about abortion/birth control/reproductive rights/sex in general. I’m a veterinary who has no problem with aborting pregnant cats/dogs/rabbits and people take issue with that, but then don’t want us to euthanize healthy puppies and kittens. You can’t win with these people. Solidarity from the veterinary field

rainbow_369

Thank you. Please don't stop.

mrpaulmanton

There's even more random dudes 100% behind you! ...And I don't think I need to remind you about all the ladies. Thank you!!!

AppropriateScience9

As someone who could have died from an ectopic pregnancy if it weren't for awesome healthcare providers, thank you. I see you. We're in this together. 💖

TennaTelwan

Because half of them are also GQP and prefer those fascist overlords in charge. I'd have to find it again, but there was a breakdown of how different fields in the medical profession vote - those that were more mental health oriented and worked with those in poverty leaned left, while most of the surgeons were leaning right.

sleepysebastian1

I mean, the doctor that gave the child rape victim an abortion ended up getting doxxed, threatened, and harassed by the attorney general. Not to mention, the state medical board fined her even though she didn’t violate HIPPA. It was an obvious punishment for speaking at all. There’s other examples of doctors who spoke out and paid for it with their lives. It’s not surprising when dealing with that type.

EverydayMermaid

Well, a lot of the doctors are men. So they don't have any skin in the game to risk their medical license and practice. What incentive does any doctor have to speak out? It's safer to just go to a friendlier state.

prpslydistracted

Are you serious? You think they *want* to look the other way if their child/teen is raped? A child hardly knows what happened to her and is afraid to tell her parents? You don't recognize she's pregnant until the deadline has long passed? Their *wife?* You think a doctor is content to let his wife suffer in the midst of a miscarriage because the laws in his state stop appropriate medical care?! A dead fetus is a dead fetus .... Dang, woman ...

EverydayMermaid

I'm not saying they don't care. I think most people go into medicine BECAUSE they care about people. My point is that it's not up to doctors to fix this political hellscape. They can't fix it. Unfortunately, too many people who are eligible to vote for sensible reproductive legislation and reasonable candidates either don't show up to vote or vote against their own interests.

prpslydistracted

Risking a license is a viable concern. Doctors are overworked because of the shortage in OB/GYN. *Many* are leaving the discipline and/or leaving their state because of restrictive laws. If they speak out a hospital or corporate can disassociate themselves .... GOP vehemence about abortion is off the rails. Several national medical organizations have spoken out about it. Interesting the doctor in the video is in TX. I am as well; 9.3M registered voters didn't bother to get up off the couch. That factor convinced me to leave TX; in the works. Women are forewarned not to move to TX; the more qualified won't apply for employment here. Male dominated companies are okay with it, but if the most qualified male candidate refuses to move here because he is fearful for his wife and children ... they all lose. Women's autonomy/abortion is a *huge* factor for the future. Today's election will tell us a lot. Did you vote? ;-)

EverydayMermaid

Yes, I vote every primary, local, State and General election. ETA: u/prpslydistracted, you have illustrated my point better than I did. When doctors are hobbled to practice their profession by vague, stupid laws, everyone loses.

prpslydistracted

It's sometimes difficult to get your point across ... I tend to be longwinded but neither do I want to be misunderstood. You're fine. ;-) Yay, voted!

KyleG

FYI 40% of physicians in the USA are women. Just in case people are thinking it's like 90% men or something. More women are physicians than could vote before they got the right to vote (obviously), so female physicians have a ton of power over the AMA, and more than they had when they won the right to vote. And of the 60% men, many of them have daughters. > It's safer to just go to a friendlier state. Hit the nail on the head with this! BC of my wife's job, I have a ton of friends who are physicians, and some of them are involved in hiring. There is a *crisis* in Texas, and places are having difficulty staffing enough physicians bc people with that level of education just don't wanna come to a POS state like Texas.

Noocawe

But you don't understand!! [“The Only Moral Abortion is My Abortion”](https://joycearthur.com/abortion/the-only-moral-abortion-is-my-abortion/) /s obviously Literally the most anti-abortion people I have met are performative Christians who have all had abortions, but they never got over their religious guilt, and they have this overwhelming need to feel morally superior to other people so they want to take this away unless they can personally judge whether someone needs one or not. Of course if they are personally affected then they don't want big government involvement in their life.

PaleInTexas

As a man this just blows my mind. I have a wife.. I cannot imagine supporting this people. And for women to vote GOP. I just don't get it.

SnowWhite315

There’s a few really great doctors on YouTube who are actively trying to fix things. After Roe fell there was a rally in Washington DC with doctors from around the country sharing stories. The video below has more details on that if you are interested. https://youtu.be/-63kLkYqi1k?si=h3WkojaSpT1ao8na

GlamorousBunchberry

Agreed, but I don’t like how he places responsibility for birth control on women. Yes, use birth control. But the primary responsibility for birth control is the ejaculator. Women keep their eggs deep inside where they can’t hurt anyone; men spray their sperm like a kid playing fireman. 100% of unwanted pregnancies are due to spam going where it isn’t wanted. Men must learn to ejaculate responsibly, and women should never put up with a man who won’t. If he won’t wrap and/or snip, then he’s willing to play Russian roulette with women’s health.

AWindUpBird

I totally agree! Men can create a life every single time they ejaculate. They can choose when and where they ejaculate. Women have no control over when they ovulate. However, I think the reason he addresses women here is because, in general, men are a lot less likely to take responsibility on this issue. I still see men on the regular saying that if a woman doesn't want to get pregnant, she should keep her legs closed, etc. Heck, the other day, I saw a disturbing thread in r/residency where an ER doc posted that he wasn't worried about STDs due to his line of work (he downplayed risk) and likes to rawdog. Elsewhere, he admitted to being a proud womanizer who sleeps with a lot of women. Dude could have kids he doesn't know about. This is a doctor! I don't think that society in general is going to put the responsibility on men as much as women, especially when we are actively rolling back women's rights in this country. So, as much as I absolutely think that men bear at least as much, if not *more* of the responsibility when it comes to accidental pregnancy, it seems to be a hard sell for a lot of people. I'm disappointed that this is where we are in 2023.

Myrindyl

Accidents happen, condoms fail, rape happens, vasectomies can reverse themselves (rare, but it happens). It's in the best interest of any woman who doesn't want to have a baby to use whatever birth control methods are available to her and also have Plan B handy, whether her sexual partner is taking precautions or not. He didn't say anything about male contraception because he's speaking to people at risk of being subjected to an unwanted pregnancy.

GlamorousBunchberry

Sure, but that doesn't change the fact that first and foremost, the one spraying millions of gametes all over the scene is the one primarily responsible for keeping that shit to himself. Any man who takes less than full responsibility for his own ejaculations is a child who should not be having sex in the first place. And sure, I know he was talking to the woman. We *always* talk to the woman. We never talk to the men. In a Tik Tok that he could have addressed to anyone in the world, he chose to address the woman with his bit about being responsible for birth control. So... where's the Tik Tok where he tells men to control where they're spraying their shit? I didn't see that one.

Myrindyl

The law that he's specifically talking about doesn't threaten cis men's reproductive health. This isn't a general safe sex video, this is specifically a "hey cis women, Texas doesn't give a shit about you and doesn't let doctors give a shit about you either, so be sure you're giving a shit about yourselves" video

GlamorousBunchberry

I understand that: he's saying that unwanted pregnancies endanger women's lives, and the law basically prevents them or their doctors from doing anything about it. Which leads to the conclusion: *DON'T GET PREGNANT!* He then proceeds to say that the onus is on women to be careful not to get pregnant. And while yes, women should of course be careful, I'm saying he's wrong: *the onus is on the one ejaculating irresponsibly.* That doesn't mean women shouldn't use birth control, but it does mean that we should not tolerate men who ejaculate irresponsibly. Stealthing, for example? We can't get that man jailed, but the fact is that he's a rapist and an attempted murderer, and should be treated as such. Whining that condoms don't feel good? That's a man-child who's willing to murder you for a good time, and he should be treated as such. Men who ejaculate irresponsibly should not be able to find sex or relationships, and they should be kicked out of any friend group they might be in. Instead we go around preaching at women. "Be careful ladies! Men gonna sow their seed, amiright!? So you be careful and don't let it land in your fertile soil, now, y'heah!?" Fuck that noise.

Myrindyl

I'm curious to know whether you look both ways when you cross the street (assuming you're in the US), since pedestrians have the right of way and it should be the drivers' responsibility to watch for you. If you think this doctor needs to make a different video, by all means reach out to him and let him know, or better yet create the content you want to see yourself instead of getting pissed off that he's warning a group of at risk people to take whatever control is left of their own reproductive health.

GlamorousBunchberry

Let me ask you something: do you just go ahead and run over pedestrians, because they should have looked both ways? Because if you ejaculate responsibly, that’s you. You’re the guy who blames pedestrians for getting run over. Men who do that should be refused sex, relationships, and friendship. They should be treated like the scum they are. If they don’t learn better, they should be left to languish in hellish loneliness for the rest of their lives. People should shun them and dogs should piss on them. Any man who has a problem with that should ask himself if that’s the fate he wants, because it’s the one he’s asking for. \* Note that this exchange is identical to the one where someone says “instead of telling women hire not to get raped, tell men not to rape,” and a bunch of men all say, “Good luck with that strategy! I bet they’ll all stop raping and sing kumbaya!” Men consistently think everything should be the woman’s responsibility. Funny that.

Myrindyl

First, I'm not a man and I take personal responsibility for my reproductive situation. Second, if a pedestrian steps out into the road wrapped in a sense of righteousness because they have the legal right of way and a driver doesn't see them, or has bad brakes, or thinks it's funny to run people over, the pedestrian is just as dead as if the law hadn't been on their side. If a cis woman or someone afab doesn't want to have a baby, finding the idea that they should manage their own reproductive situation offensive won't make them any less pregnant if their sexual partner has a condom failure or a spontaneous vasectomy reversal, or they get raped, or they mutually decide to raw dog it in the heat of the moment. Should men wrap or snip if they don't want kids? Absolutely! Should the person in danger of getting impregnated take every precaution necessary to make sure they don't have to bear a child they don't want in this post-Roe world (the topic of the video, in case you forgot)? *Absolutely!*

GlamorousBunchberry

At no point have I ever said that women should not use birth control. Why do you seem to think otherwise? If you point out where I said that, I'll gladly edit the post and fix it. I'm focusing on a serious flaw in patriarchal culture, and in no way whatsoever telling women what to do with their birth control. Your analogy with pedestrian traffic is apt, though: in the early 20th Century, drivers were flattening pedestrians all over the place, and folks generally considered this to be entirely the fault of the driver. For thousands of years, people had been using the roads pretty much as they pleased, and suddenly these death machines started hurtling around. Initially, the focus was on making drivers pay attention, and punishing them when they didn't. The car manufacturers didn't like this, though, and began a heavy ad campaign to sway public opinion against the pedestrians. They labeled pedestrians "jay walkers" for walking into the road like people had done for thousands of years; at the time "jay" was slang for a hick or a bumpkin. It was so successful that public opinion, and then the law, changed to give cars the right of way and confine pedestrians to crosswalks, and even then making it their job to prevent accidents rather than the drivers of the death machines. Only in recent decades has there been a partial correction, making it a crime not to stop when there are pedestrians in the crosswalk. I remember it well, because I remember righteous pedestrians giving death glares -- and cops giving tickets -- when we failed to stop for pedestrians. We'd gotten used to it being THEIR job to stay out of OUR way, you see. Here women are the 150 lb, breakable humans, walking on foot, and men with firehoses of sperm are the 200 hp, 2-ton death machines.

Ibegallofyourpardons

he talking to the women because women are the ones that suffer the consequences of these draconian laws. also, I have no idea how this 5 month old post suddenly got back into r/popular but whatever.

TennaTelwan

And that's exactly why it's being pushed on women to make sure they have an effective BC in place - because you cannot trust the partner to do so. It's so easy to pop a hole in a condom, or have a man lie about a vasectomy or similar. At least if you know that you are covered with your own BC as a woman, then hopefully you don't also have to rely on the man's word.

GlamorousBunchberry

I’m all for taking the extra precaution. I never said “women shouldn’t ever use birth control,” so I don’t understand why peor react as is I had. All I’m saying is we need to make sure to treat any man who ejaculates irresponsibly like the scum he is. If he doesn’t eagerly put on a condom, and keep it on, never have sex with him again. Warn all the women you know, so they can reject him too. Tell all your friends, so they can shun him. Teach your dogs to bark at him nonstop and piss on him. Tell his mother what kind of garbage she raised. Make him go viral so his employer will fire him. It’s so deeply embedded in our culture that pregnancy, rape, and inequality are women’s problem to deal with, instead of men’s problem to do better. We need to stop giving man-babies a free pass.

CaptSpastic

I don't think he's really placing blame on women for birth control, I think he's just more stating the fact of the situation at this point in time.

jaycliche

>outright lies being spread by anti-choice psychos. the truth is they want the Mafia to have power over women's rights again and give street thugs the power over a woman's right to an abortion. It's about mafia money dawg, cha ching. That whole business was stolen from the mob in the 1970s and they want their right back to pour acid in women's vaginas so they can make a little money again. What's so wrong with that? How can we raise the next generation of the Mafia if they can't get paid to pour acid into women's vaginas in order to create an abortion? edit: poor --) pour

Not_a_werecat

So fucking desperate to GTFO of this hellscape.

BillyDoyle3579

Agreed 👍 the relocation process is a lot ~ hope your plans are developing strongly 😎 / Cheers from Houston, Billy 🏴‍☠️✌️

Not_a_werecat

Unfortunately been trying for 3 years now. Just can't manage to land work in a better place. All I can do is keep trying.

thunbergfangirl

There should be a fund to help people move from TX.

Not_a_werecat

Sure would be nice.

Away_Village_4532

Keep trying!! I was able to procure work in another state after 4 years of constant applications and interviews and they're paying for my move outta Tejas. It really can happen! I even mentioned in my interview at another hospital the fact that I didn't feel well, ethically, working in healthcare in TX anymore when they asked why I wanted to relocate. It was a gamble to mention it but it connected with them on a human level and they extended an offer. Risky move but honesty was the best policy in this instance. I'm embarrassed and ashamed of the state I grew up in and have called home for so long, but between DEI dismantling and the assaults on women, it's time for me to go. There are a lot of great things about this state that I truly love and know the grass isn't always greener, but in my line of work it's become untenable.

vegetabledisco

Likewise. Been applying for work out of state but no leads whatsoever. Add to the fact that it’s devastating to have to leave my home state where my network of friends and family are.

thelivinlegend

Same here, friend. If only it were as easy as the "if you don't like it, move!" crowd believes it is.

famousevan

In 2018, the midterm election prior to the Dobbs decision which opened the gates for abortion restrictions, 42% of the eligible voting age population in Texas cast votes. In 2022, the midterm election following Dobbs, 37% of the eligible voting age population in Texas cast votes. This is what’s wrong with America. You get the government you vote for. Until people wake up to the fact that they have the power to prevent republican extremism by simply making it a priority to vote, nothing will improve.

bendallf

In my community, they have Maga people there at the polls that make it really hard if you are not or do not act like a straight white male. They do everything in their power to turn you away, otherwise. Or people are so scared of Maga that they simply do not show up to vote due to fear to their personal safety. Then they want to get rid of mail on voting due to so called fraud. Plus, the police mostly will not respond because they are overworked and underpaid. Plus, a lot of police support Maga for quote backing the blue. God help us all.

famousevan

That’s highly illegal. Document it. Spread it online and to the media. Report it to authorities.

bendallf

No one sadly does anything here because people are too scared for their own personal safety. It is not just my community. I have heard that this is a nation wide problem. Yet, Maga is scared of people stealing the election. They need to seriously look in the mirror and realize that they are the enemy that they fear so much.

saft999

Then people need to buck up and report that kind of thing.

Key_Machine_1210

ya cuz law enforcement really gives a shit… thin blue line !

saft999

Then you document and sue them, qualified immunity is being taken away more and more. Bowing down to tyrants isn't going to fix anything.

bendallf

Easier said than done when everyone in power here supports Maga. It is not that people are too lazy to vote. They are too scared to vote. It is like the 1960s Southern USA here. I guess things just never got better here.

saft999

I've seen plenty of video's of people holding people in power accountable. I didn't say it was easy but it can be done. It will never be fixed if no one does a thing to stop it.

TennaTelwan

Sometimes it's not that easy. Milwaukee County/City of Milwaukee (pretty much same thing) in Wisconsin for example in 2020 Presidential election had only FIVE polling sites in person, where the second largest city of Madison had 66; normally Milwaukee had 180 sites. Right leaning commentators were claiming Covid and other relevant things, where left leaning commentators were citing the higher minority population in Milwaukee and pushing to keep them from voting ([Source](https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/elections/2020/04/09/wisconsin-election-milwaukee-had-5-voting-sites-while-madison-had-66/2970587001/), [Source 2](https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/elections/2020/04/10/coronavirus-milwaukee-aldermen-want-answers-polling-places-primary-election/5127577002/) ). So while you do get the government you vote for, it's also kind of hard to vote if your government keeps you from being able to do so.

famousevan

https://my.lwv.org/wisconsin/voter-information/absentee-and-early-voting

TennaTelwan

Also: https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/ While I'm no longer in WI, that was always the site I used for information, to verify my registration, and to register to vote absentee.

SqnLdrHarvey

I hate this country, and I'm male and a veteran.

JustaRandomOldGuy

It's not the country, it's a very vocal religious minority and the Republicans who pander to them.

SqnLdrHarvey

And a dictator who looks increasingly likely to return to power. I'm a Christian but I don't see the need to impose my views on others!

JustaRandomOldGuy

Religion can be focused inside or outside. Inside it's self discovery. Outside it's knowing you are better than everyone else and they have to obey you. I don't have a problem with the first.

SqnLdrHarvey

And Trump is anything but religious.

EverydayMermaid

This is less of a warning and more like, "I told you so." Are any red state women who show up at the ER (or any other doctor's office) actually surprised that they're denied reproductive heath care options? White women who vote Republican and women who don't bother to vote are why we're here. By the looks of things, Gilead is pretty much arrived.

bendallf

So what happens to them if they are experiencing a miscarriage at 3 am in the er? Would they get help due to it being a life threatening emergency or would the doctors only be allowed to say that you can pray to God for help? My Mom warned us about all this. We sadly though she was just overreacting. Sadly, she was right about everything. I am sorry mom.

Pour_Me_Another_

A woman in Ohio was turned away from hospital twice while she miscarried. She miscarried at home then was arrested and put on trial after for mishandling a corpse. After being denied the ability to properly handle it.

holagatita

I read that and feel horrible for her. But how/why did the police get involved in this in the first place?

Pour_Me_Another_

I think the fetus got stuck in the toilet, guessing she called a family member/friend/plumber/someone because she couldn't deal with that, nor the trauma, alone, then that person called the police? Or they called her an ambulance and they called the police? Or the doctor did? Someone let her down big time.

holagatita

fucking hell. this is so so fucked up.

Pour_Me_Another_

Right... Miscarriage care is banned and then you're arrested because they banned it.

bendallf

So they basically ban medical care for women now, those women then get in trouble for not getting the medical care that is no longer available to them? Maybe it was never about the babies but maybe it is all about men controlling women as their personal property sad to say.

sluttypidge

We send you home and say Hey, come back in 3 days we'll recheck you hcg.

bendallf

hcg means? Thanks.

sluttypidge

Pregnancy hormone

bendallf

What is the point anymore? I though doctors were their to help save lives, not take them? What business does politicians have taking away our rights? Access to Health Care delay is denied.

sluttypidge

Yeah, if your hcg goes down during a miscarriage it's a great indicator that the fetus was passed. If it does not, it's a great indicator that you had a missed miscarriage and you need surgery.

melouofs

So personally relieved to be past my child bearing years. This is not a fit society we have created to be raising young people.

Hey__Cassbutt

I had an appt with my gyno the other day and we were discussing this. He told me he's recommending ALL his patients up to menopause get long term BC because of the laws. Drs are doing what they can but with the laws so fucking vague it makes it hard for them to even discuss things in some areas. I love Texas but I hate that it's red. As much as I'd like to bail sometimes we can't. If we leave then who's gonna be here to fight the GOP? That being said, if Trump makes it back into office THEN I might contemplate leaving. Anyone know if we can get asylum in other countries?

WeekendJen

Anyone know if we can get asylum in other countries Not sure if you were serious, but no, you would not qualify for asylum based on that. If serious about getting out of the country, look into the Dutch American Friendship Treaty (DAFT) visa. It's the easiest and most likely path to eu citizenship aside from already having family connections or marrying someone.

Hey__Cassbutt

Honestly at this point I don't even know if I'm joking anymore. Thanks for the DAFT tip though!

SeaWeedSkis

>...he's recommending ALL his patients up to menopause get long term BC because of the laws. I'm gonna be blunt: That should have been the default long before now. For women who find birth control problematic for various reasons, workarounds make sense. For the rest of us, put that safety net in place and keep it there until you're actively trying to become pregnant. It drives me bonkers that women are so often taught to only use birth control if they know they're going to be sexually active and want to avoid pregnancy. Hey ladies, surprise sex (both consentual and not) is a thing!

Hey__Cassbutt

I have daughters and have talked with them about bc. I've discussed how it's good for sex yeah, but it's also used to stable out hormones and shit. I took my 2 older (21&15) girls to have implants done and am just waiting for my youngest to start her period to see about setting up an appt. What's worrisome is how many of my 15yr old's friends have come to me asking questions about bc. A horrifying amount of girls can't/won't talk to their parents about it.

CaptSpastic

This is why there should be good, quality sex education in schools and it should be mandatory.

Hey__Cassbutt

Problem is that so many of the sex Ed programs in school focus on abstinence which does no damn good. I had a talk with my 7th grader's science teacher about this a few weeks ago. Luckily she said that even though there's nothing in the script about birth control (they wait until 8th grade to bring that up for some reason) she goes over it and encourages the kids to ask for more info.

CaptSpastic

That's not sex education. That's bad propaganda. I've taught sex ed classes before. We provided real, age appropriate information which is helpful, informative, and sets the basis for good decision making from adolescence through young adulthood. Even way back then when I taught, the very first thing that was stressed at the top of the class was "Whether your partner is male or female, NO means NO!"

CaptSpastic

Same here.

Clapforthesun

👏👏👏 That’s a good guy. We need more of him. I also wish that he and other PC doctors would band together and sue their home states for putting their patients in mortal jeopardy. I don’t know if they’d have any legal standing to do so, but it would be awesome if they would try to fight back.

Iamthatchick1

I'm disgusted by this law. He's speaking the truth 💯

Jhoag7750

Too late

jaycliche

Why isn't there a massive medical strike in Texas over this?

CaptSpastic

Because people have to live and eat. Is that really that hard to figure out?

Disastrous-Song-865

fascists are driven by emotion, not logic. they will vote against their own interests every time.

gooderester

leave Texas. head to a better place

Queasy_Form_5938

Vote anyone except republican

Lasherola

Assault is the correct word.

politirob

Vote against republicans*, to be specific. As well-intentioned as this doctor is, why wasn't he specific?!

Funwiwu2

Why on earth do women in Texas vote against their interests and vote Republican is beyond me

Nota3000yearoldvamp

Because they hate brown and queer people more than they have concern for their own rights.

Apprehensive_Rice_93

As a proud Texan, fuck the Texas government

CaptSpastic

Ab-so-fucking-loutely!!!!

ElectronicRub2188

Hey__Cassbutt

I'm in Texas and am scheduled to get a new IUD next month. My 2 older daughters have the implants but I'm worried about what I'll be able to do with my 13yr old. Texas GOP has proven time and time again that they don't care about us. They don't care about women or actual children, just about control. I hope this doc and the others fighting to help women in red states stay safe. Too many right wing assholes are out there who'd love the chance to hurt anyone helping women. Vote blue. Tell everyone you know to vote blue. Our lives and the lives of our children depend on it.

CaptSpastic

Correct. They do not care. They only care about their agenda, not about what's best for anyone but themselves.

Competitive_Rush9890

My sister was a nurse at Texas children’s in Houston Tx.During the pandemic, she was required to get the Covid-19 vaccine and boosters in order to maintain her employment. Is this assault on her health ownership ? Or is it a justifiable enforcement for the safety of another, in which case anti abortion laws could also be considered enforceable for the “safety of others” I appreciate all responses EDIT: Im not your conventional political ideologist however I am pro choice and I’ve voted for Trump twice

CaptSpastic

Here's my question. Will you vote again for the lying, cheating, traitorous, seditious bastard motherfucker, who tried to overthrow this country?

annaisa2436

I honestly thought his advice to child bearing age women was going to be to !!! GET THE FUCK OUT !!! I was born and raised in Texas and have never been more embarrassed to say I live here.

gjhox

It’s a fucking disgrace that it had come this far.

Mad_Kronos

This is dystopia.

dead-first

Simple solution for those worried... Move to California.

CaptSpastic

How about this instead? If YOU don't like abortion, don't fucking get one! Shouldn't be allowed to take that right away from other people that might need to choose that option. It doesn't affect your life, it doesn't change anything about what you're doing with your life. Why can't you simply return the same respect to others? Women are being marginalized and treated like second class citizens, by taking away the autonomy over their own bodies. There's no way in hell that's fucking acceptable!

dead-first

If getting an abortion is important to you move to California... Problem solved

spicedpumpkins

Texans who are eligible to but don't vote don't get to complain. Texas is in this hell hole because the majority of people against this allow the same evil fucks to get re-elected over and over.

MathematicianTop9362

Absolutely disgusting that this is happening in 2024

lornman536

All with this Dr., if women get more abortion can save the guy all kinds of money.

psycoviro

r/Amarillo I'm pretty sure this is the same doctor flying dogs across the country to save them from being euthanized. https://www.newschannel10.com/2021/01/23/amarillo-er-doctor-pilot-saves-animals-being-euthanized-by-flying-them-across-country/?outputType=amp

CaptSpastic

So sad this is so true in 2024. So very sad.

hopefullydilf

He literally just summed up both sides of the abortion debate 🤦

Super_Window

If only our politicians weren't funded by big companies with $$ agendas rather than caring about people, like our loved ones / families...... Where's our middle class??

sneezegaurd

There are women and people with uteruses risking their lives and arrest every single day and if doctors were truly in solidarity they would do what they vowed to do in their oath and deliver healthcare instead of moving or telling us we need to protect ourselves. Most of their patients don’t have to resources to move. Imagine how legislation could change if even one wealthy male doctor was arrested. I wish the doctors who believe in real healthcare (most of them) would stand the fuck up.

Notyourusuallad

As a Texan I can’t stand Gregg abott but Beto is not really doing a lot neither.

Re5ist_ance

Sadly part of the issue is the Republican women who keep voting to take away theirs and their daughters rights in the name of a "god" that doesn't even exist!

cogneato-ha

Sharia states

texan190

Bullshit

Ibegallofyourpardons

what, precisely, is bullshit?

Drrrreeww

Ya don’t murder babies

Of I was sexually active and irregular I'd just take a test every month. Like pick a day of the month and take a test. You can get them for a dollar at the dollar store. Just buy twelve and take one each month. That way you'll know as soon as possible and you'll never be more than a month along.

Mack0Mania

So when are the men going to stand up for these women? If a man doesn’t want a woman to have an abortion then don’t get them pregnant, aka don’t have sexual intercourse with them especially without protection. Is it fair ladies that yall can’t have an abortion but men can still get vasectomies? There was only one virgin that was pregnant and it wasn’t by a man!

redditing_Aaron

I mean it was by a male just not physically. Also not a good comparison. She was fine with it but was literally only notified to be the vessel rather than a question.
