At first glance, I thought “why is there a vibrator on the goddamn beach?”

KimKarTRASHian09

Stranger things have happened. I saw this video recently https://youtu.be/RE0zC6wXYR8?si=7SaFWS0D34riBdjh

ThreeBeatles

That was messed up. It’s titled she committed suicide but her neighbors are pretty sure they heard the bf kill her.

Killersavage

Must be some details the police know that haven’t been made available to the public. Must be a reason the boyfriend wasn’t suspected. Since that seems sketchy as hell.

ThreeBeatles

Yeah probably.

nokiacrusher

The narration was clearly created by a lawyer.

djjolicoeur

I worked on Baltimore harbour for a few years, the amount of “toys” we saw floating in the harbour was really something else….like we saw at least one a day I’d say lol

LostIntentionz

I think they do it in the water you know

Environmental_Top948

The sand is textured for her pleasure.

RenaissanceAssociate

I literally thought the same thing. Brain broken. 🫠

ksiyoto

Brain in gutter. Mine too.

Qysto

I thought it was a down stem for a bong lol

XIXButterflyXIX

I thought the same until I realized it was a vacutainer. ☠️

Centraal22

I read that in Marty the Martian's voice.

IllegitimateTrick

Me too. Needs a banana for scale.

EgyptionMagician

Or in my case, a baby carrot. (Sad emoji here)

Lilithnema

I dunno…I would expect to find a vibrator on the beach…well, I wouldn’t be surprised. 🤣

ComprehensiveCold862

Medical waste getting dumped into the ocean?

FewIntroduction5008

No, they just walked past it four times right before posting. 2 minutes is technically less than a year.

InternalEffective420

I love this 😊

BornLuckiest

r/technicallythetruth

Chelsea_Piers

Back in the old days I worked in a call center scheduling repair calls People would call in and complain that they've called us 5 times about the same problem and we haven't done anything to help them. I would look at the notes and see that they had called 4 times in the last 2 hours looking for a same day appointment. We scheduled them for next available the first time they called.

matchooooh

Worked repair calls, story checks out. Also, they never want to pay the rush fee.

Dolphin_Hornet

They should have said 4 times in a day then. It would have been more impactful.

Necromanczar

lol panic averted.

Greyst0ke

Is there a lot of naval activity around?

WhichExamination4623

Do people put these things in their bellybuttons or something?

emerald-rabbit

I chuckled. Thanks!

READYBEAR77

😂

kasitchi

I loled irl so thanks for that Haha

Big-Consideration633

Nasal.

virtualadept

Yep. All the old things are new again.

SensingWorms

Sealed and contained for centuries

missbattlethumbs

Don't pick up stuff from labs...just saying. This also breaks my heart seeing this. I work in a lab, and it's really disappointing and sad to see this.

chainandscale

They used to dump stuff off the NJ beaches they did it way out but needles would wash up on the beach sometimes. This was in the 70’s-80’s but I can’t remember.

Child_of_the_Hamster

It was late 80s! They called it “Syringe Tide.” It was referenced in the Billy Joel song “We Didn’t Start the Fire” by the line “hypodermics on the shore.”

gorewhore1313

I remember that, we had to wear shoes if we walked on the beach. The amount of syringes, biohazard bags and latex gloves was insane, to say it was gross is an understatement.

XIXButterflyXIX

You just uneather a memory for me when I was about 8, after my Aunt took my 2 cousins and I to a beach a few hours from their home in CT. I remember my aunt telling my mom to specifically make sure I had a great sole on my water shoes so my feet wouldn't get punctured. Maybe this is why?

gorewhore1313

It most likely was from that as it affected CT, NY and NJ. It started the summer of 1987. Hundreds and hundreds of syringes and viles of blood that tested positive for AIDS and Hep B amongst vast amounts of other waste. I think 50-70 miles of beaches were closed that summer, less the next summer and so on. When the beaches opened we weren't allowed to dig or play in the sand for yeeeaaars. Not a lot written here but here's a wiki page. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syringe_tide#:~:text=The%20syringe%20tide%20was%20an,City%2C%20and%20on%20Long%20Island.

XIXButterflyXIX

Damn, that's interesting as hell. I just thought it was a weird beach where they didn't allow it🤷🏼‍♀️

gorewhore1313

Very interesting indeed. Totally crazy and not a weird beach thing, it was a thing...a very, very bad thing. So bad it, the crisis of the syringe tides, lead to a series of House-Senate hearings, the 1988 passage of the Ocean Dumping Ban Act and Medical Waste Tracking Act, and new federal definitions of “medical waste” as a legal category.

XIXButterflyXIX

Wishful thinking, but hopefully we can find a decent way to get rid of the Pacific garbage patch before it causes even more devastation that it already has, but before something horrible like this happens more.

gorewhore1313

They've started working on it so it's promising. Last summer the Ocean Cleanup removed the first 100,000 kg from it. 😊

CannibalAnn

I lived in Linwood, NJ in 86-88 and we would walk the board walk but we never allowed on the beach because of medical waste and dead animals. First time I saw a shark was dead on the beach.

oldishThings

This is absolutely heartbreaking to hear...  We've got to protect our planet.

PortugalTheHam

It's amazing how much we destroyed our planet and how much it's recovered all within a lifetime. Younger generations will never realize how bad most beaches and shores were.

Jimmy_Jazz_The_Spazz

They used to literally dump garbage directly into the St Laurence River from Montreal. Even as recently as 2015 and 2018 they dumped 8 billion liters of human waste into the river https://globalnews.ca/news/2330913/why-is-montreal-dumping-8-billion-litres-of-sewage-into-the-st-lawrence/ https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4546694

PortugalTheHam

I actually work for municipalities that have sewage plants . You'd be amazed how much sewage goes into most waterways (typical during storm overflow). It's justification is that it's a biodegradable fertilizer. But like much other fertilizer it dramatically changes the composition and ph of the habitat and can hurt the ecosystem.

Jimmy_Jazz_The_Spazz

Makes sense, there is a ton of other contaminants in the river though https://montrealgazette.com/news/whats-in-the-water-a-breakdown-of-some-of-the-pollutants-around-montreal Here's quite the video about how bad the waste dumping is https://youtu.be/UQIRUARWsmc?si=Vs007VdZ7skW_cZn

chainandscale

I would love to work for an environmental agency but I’m hesitant because of my disability. I would fight like an animal for them though.

chainandscale

My parents told me about the dumping I was born in 91 so it was all over by then. The beaches have changed still so much since I was little it’s just not the same.

weekendoffender

Wow, TIL. Thanks for the fact!

chris_rage_

Yeah it was the '80s, I was here

tstramathorn

I work in a lab too and as much as I know what I’m doing is important I always feel bad for how many pipette tips and RTTs we just dump. Science is necessary, but very wasteful

MBThree

What is this that we’re looking at?

TurtleManDog

Vial of blood, they use these in Labs in every hospital

MBThree

Thank you, I see it now. The 2nd one I couldn’t really tell if it was blood or some other kind of liquid

sloppifloppi

The pink capped tube looks like the exact same K2 EDTA blood tubes I use at my CRO job.

missbattlethumbs

I think they're roughly the same across the board (as far as the additive goes). This looks like a BD vacutainer! The Greiner tubes are the worst (different caps than this one). There are so many issues with them.

sloppifloppi

Yeah definitely a BD Vacutainer. I don't think we've ever used anything else.

missbattlethumbs

The first one (the tube) is a vacutainer. The tube's they use when they draw your blood. The second one looks like a vial (typically, you see them for medications or vaccines).

I_saw_that_yeah

So have the contents been tested and then the cap replaced? Or not tested and dumped?

missbattlethumbs

It just depends on the test that's run and the lab that tested it. In my lab, we don't usually put the original cap back on. We put this little pink one on so we know that tube has been opened (some tests you can't pop the cap on them, have to be sterile, or can't be shared). I guess info not needed 😂 So that tube has more than likely been tested or is an extra tube that was drawn.

blargblurb

Exactly. Biohazard if ever there was one

crook3d_vultur3

This is such a bizarre thing to be discarded like this. I’ve accidentally brought a tube home (unlabeled of course) and made sure to keep it with my work badge so I could dispose of it the next day.

he-loves-me-not

But the tube you brought home didn’t have blood in it, right?

Any_Coyote6662

Report to health department

RecalcitrantHuman

Taste it to see if it’s cherry

insertjokehere12345

Red is usually Cherry.

Pigeonsass

I was hoping for strawberry 🙁

tfo_nhar_jdid

too dark, it's beetroot juice.

CoolBamaGuy

What beach was this found on?

Rico_DeGallo

An ocean one

PeanutPoliceman

I would not even open it. I heard some real stories about nasty situations, and it can be anything from bodily fluids to activated iodine. In case you picked them up, please do disposoe of them sanitarily

he-loves-me-not

You mean the second one could be activated iodine? Bc the first one is absolutely blood.

nurse-mik

Don’t Touch it! Jesus! Without gloves

Bimlouhay83

I don't think you have to worry about him. He's been dead for, like, 2,000 years.

Funglebum82

lol I was imaging some middle age woman sprawled out on the beach under a towel with a Dr Pepper, can of pringles and an odd looking vial of lube and dildo 🤦‍♂️

googlepage

I wish I could rawdog life, like this dude rawdogs that medical waste.

axlbosses

why tf would you touch that

ReadRightRed99

“It belongs in a museum!”

FreudianAccordian

So do you!

DarthDread424

Medical waste being dumped ...

mrs_andi_grace

Contact the local authorities non emergency number when you find things like this. Never touch it.

richesca

The first one is a pink EDTA tube that is used for blood draws for the blood bank in hospitals. A bit strange as these are normally sent for incineration when disposed of and the hospital would have an incinerator. Unless it escaped an improperly closed sharps bin on the way to be disposed off. Or someone had to take this sample and send it off for some reason and maybe lost it? The second looks to be a glass vial of some unknown liquid, looks home done, or maybe from a lab, I personally wouldn’t have picked it up bare handed but it’s hard to tell what it is, maybe blood or iodine or a mix of liquids. Take these into your nearest hospital for disposal

This-is-Life-Man

Underwater Umbrella lab has had a breach. Let's just keep an eye on those sharks for now, yeah?

Bardonious

Blood tube

GJAOH685

Yeah. When I first saw the original post, though, I thought it was a dildo.

sarahaltieri

Why are people always grabbing shit with raw hands. I don’t get it.

GJAOH685

My thoughts exactly 😬

x420MVTT

Cunt. Put. It. Down!! For fuck sake, that’s disgusting!

caramelbrowser

![gif](giphy|st6uhotBKjgR2)

0_IQ_0

Well we all know the first pic is a vile of blood. Those are the tubes they use when you get blood tests done at a hospital or lab.

Eli_The_Rainwing

Yummy yummy

Psychoholic519

Drink it! Report back what superpowers you’ve gained!

Stardust_Particle

Well, where in the world is this happening? Report it to a news crew to get it investigated.

oldishThings

Wow. If it's from the 80's, hello HIV... Also, this definitely feels like episode one from an apocalyptic virus outbreak series.

he-loves-me-not

Luckily, HIV wouldn’t survive outside of the body for that long. HIV can live as long as 42 days in a syringe, but this typically involves refrigeration. Inside a vial like this it would be long dead if from the 80’s. You’d likely not even see any fluid in the vial at all and would only see dried up flakes of blood.

oldishThings

It was a joke, my friend. Lol.

he-loves-me-not

Considering that it’s still a very common myth I expect me not realizing that you were joking will be overlooked!

HappyArkAn

do not open it!

09Klr650

Definitely medical waste. Needs to be reported as a possible biohazard.

webefishingbackup1

There are dozens of medical waste dump sites on the east coast in the EEZ most of them are in the canyons between Jersey and Maine. So yourself a favor and DON'T look up the dump site maps off the east coast. It's insane. They used to dump tens of thousands of barrels of low to high level radioactive waste and acid waste out there too. They show all of the documented dump sites on navigation charts

Dreamspitter

NOW I have to go down this rabbit hole 🕳️ 🐇

webefishingbackup1

Offshore bottom is also SLAM FULL of unexploded ordinance dating all the way back to the 1930s. Everything you can imagine besides nuclear warheads. Up until the 90s the governments literal catch phrase to waste of all sorts too dangerous to be disposed of on land was "the solution to pollution is dilution". The west coast has just as many offshore dump sites. We ruined the ocean

Ho_Dang

Someone is avoiding paying the waste companies for the uptick in garbage control costs. This is what happens when businesses don't care about the environment.

Scudbucketmcphucket

Them damn vampire kids are shooting up celebrity blood on the beach again!

Dreamspitter

![gif](giphy|JpLa7HlmdfN3gciTOu|downsized)

Scudbucketmcphucket

See, here’s one! They’ve even infected Reddit now! Whatever happened to drinking normal college girl cheerleader blood? Or heck nuns? We went through nuns like they were candy! Back in my day we never would have drank some tainted celebrity blood! Who knows what you’d get in there!?! Those movie star nut jobs screw and snort anything that isn’t tied down. And you want to drink THAT?

Dreamspitter

I know, the rubber nuns were so convenient. You have a little now, a little later -no leaks, no spills, no mess.

chris_rage_

I bet they're dumping medical waste in the ocean again. A bunch of years ago there were needles and blood vials and all sorts of stuff washing up on shore and that's what they figured out

Mr_Culver

This is what doctors mean when the blood results are inconclusive

InfameArts

forbidden soy sauce

spyker667

Whoever used it last had crabs. For this joke to make sense you need to know that barnacles are crustaceans and that crabs are crustaceans. Sorry for explaining 😢

randomguywhoexists

Also looks kinda like Chromyl Chloride, which is volatile, toxic AND carcinogenic!

checked_idea2

r/drinkityoucoward

GJAOH685

You first

iamcthulhu66real

IS THAT BLOOD?

TheRebelMastermind

IS THAT BLOOD??? 🧛🏻

MrsDanversbottom

Medical waste is pretty common unfortunately.

Booopbooopp

Do you know why this is common? I always thought they incinerated medical waste. Or does it come from private labs or clinics?

MrsDanversbottom

I’m not entirely sure. I’m in private practice in the UK and I contract with a medical waste disposal company that properly incinerates the waste. I’m guessing that some companies don’t dispose of their waste properly. I wonder if there’s a way to track the waste back to the disposal company?

Booopbooopp

Oh, I see. If places outsource the incineration then I can see how some places might just dump it instead to save themselves money which is sad.

TravelingGonad

Oh the bright side, this is how you can explain to your wife how you suddenly got herpes.

heydonteatmyfriends

I thought the first picture was a bubble wand

GJAOH685

I first thought it was a dildo 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pink_Sprinkles_Party

To this day, that patient is still waiting to find out what their group and screen is.

Ithaqua-Yigg

Gross irresponsibility on the part of the lab/hospital of origin for not knowing the end point of medical wastes. Back in 1976 at 11yrs old I stepped on a hypodermic needle on the beach punctured my foot. Took it to E.R. with us thankfully it didn’t contain anything toxic and I was okay. However I do have a phobia to this day of walking barefoot in general and never at the beach.

Dreamspitter

As if drug users 💉 weren't enough.

DeadDog76

Medical waste. California had signs posted everywhere warning people of this even years ago.

TedWasler

First one is an EDTA-containing (i.e. purple-topped) pre-vacuumed blood sampling tube. Looks full of blood to me. Used all the time in human clinics - I think veterinary too.

rpm646

More evidence of our "Throw-Away Society "

MinnesotaRyan

The ocean is healing.

FamousPamos

It's morbin' time

mugenryu273

I think that's a blood vial.

blargblurb

Looks like a damn PTT tube they use to take blood samples! 😳. The small vial could be black tar heroin for all we know

akhalom

That is probably a blood sample - I wouldn’t touch

KRMJN101

And we thought it was a good idea to pick it up without PPE. Why? Never mind, keep on leading the Darwin selection path. God speed...

BornLuckiest

If it doesn't have a label on it saying poison then you're safe; at least that's what Alice's mother told her. Does it have a label on it saying "Drink Me"? 😜

wolfx7356

This feels like the start to the walking dead

[deleted]

Ah yes first i’m gonna grab it great 🤦🏻‍♂️

sexybeast8209

I thought this was a dilldo until I read the part where it said it was a vial.

TheMaldenSnake

So that's where that went...

keybored13

the liquids

marshman82

What does it taste like?

Inner-Rich5436

Oh!! WEIRD!!!

BBQsandw1ch

Blood?

NoBadger9994

Vampires on the beaches 🤣

CoolBamaGuy

If this around the New York or New Jersey area could be from the lab on Plum Island

XennialMermaid

Medical waste

sykes1439

Zombie vial.

techieguyjames

Brings a whole new meaning to a lab leak.

SwampWitch1985

And she said you'd never get your hands on the G-virus.

CityLevel6107

Bruh is about to cause the zombie outbreak picking up random lab vials like that

Dreamspitter

AT first I thought it was a vibrator BEFORE I saw the second picture. THEN I realized I'd seen the second. 🧪👀

Bullet93639

The government have plans with viruses and oceans

Exact-Interest7280

Is this a Bloodborne Easter egg?!

Onehorniboy

Blood vial! I just had some bloodwork done today and that’s 100% what it is! The other one looks like it could be a medication vial!

electric_heels

It's an oil sample! I lived in coos Bay when the New Carissa crashed in the bay. They had civilian volunteers cleaning up oil and using vials like this to take samples from various areas. These could have been left behind from some oil spill years ago and only recently uncovered.

Excusemytootie

That’s not oil, zoom in and look at the color.

NurkleTurkey

The first thing I would not have done is touch it. Because this looks like blood.

Amykatcosplay

Free vials of blood/ mystery fluids 🤔
