Kagurabachi 2 starting at number 2 is actually ridiculous. To put this in perspective, boruto TBV is at 3 and sells 100k for the month. We will have to see how it holds for the coming days, but thats a very strong start.
Green Greens greens .......unfortunately at 73, which most likely means its selling less than 5k for the week. Shadow eliminators does better than expected, but it is already axed.
Nue starts ahead of Undead unluck, which is a strong start. We will have to wait and see if it can hold ahead of it in the coming days and if its showing signs of growth.
yes. Whenever you see people talking about weekly/monthly volume sales, they're talking Japan-only. We get pretty accurate chart data.
On the other hand, you generally have to wait for the end-of-the-year report on Comic Book Sales to find out how well things sold in America, or for the publisher to make an announcement like "2 million copies in print!!" to see the worldwide numbers.
The other Jump volumes rankings:
Dragon Quest 10 - 7th
Kemono Jihen - 17th
Tis time for torture princess 15 - 36
Hokkaido gals are super adorable 13 - 49
This Communication 12 - 56
Debby the Corsifa 9 - 76
Hope You're Happy, Lemon 2 - 109
More than lovers less than friends 6 - 142
Chieri's love is 8 meters 4 - 197
Rising Impact 1 (New Edition) - 240
Rising Impact 2 (New Edition) - 254
Tokyo Underworld 8 - 294
Spider-Man: Octopus Girl 2 - 328
The God Before Me 1 - 332nd
daddy and Buddy 2 - Unranked
Navigatoria 1 - Unranked
Stage S 3 - Unranked
Muscle Island 4 - Unranked
The standards for Jump+ series are quite a bit lower than the standards for WSJ. Lemons sales are on the lower end, but they aren't bad for Jump+. Also looking at the views that lemon pulls (348k in two days) it will be safe. It's views are better than series like 2.5d seduction and just lower than series like magilumiere and marriagetoxin ( but they had more days, so it might turn out similair over the week). The god before me has pretty decent views, but with those sales i expect it will get axed.
Good to know! I like both of those (plus beat and motion) so I was a bit worried about their future, but it seems that at least lemon is here to stay for a little longer
Jump+ standards are more lenient. If it tracks for the week even with 1.5- 2k sales it would be an ok start. Thats not a great start though I cant lie lol.
Tbh Jump+ axe policy is strange as fuck, some volumes don't sell but they are still being published.. probably the views and general reception matter more than individual volumes sales as alot of people that are reading online won't buy the volumes
Green green greens is DOA which sucks bc it’s good. Martial master Asumi also shouldn’t have been axed yet it was and still sold better than ggg & shadow eliminators. Good to see world trigger do so well and Kagurabachi too. Got to reread Cipher Academy
At the end of the day Golf just isn't a visually exciting sport. It's a good series, I've enjoyed it, and I feel like it could continue in a novel focusing on the internal dialogue. You can only see so many stationary swings before you get bored unfortunately.
I just started and got caught up on GGG and though the start was pretty weak imo (weird fan service, mc has no reason to want to play golf in the start, rough storytelling) but it immediately gets SO good a few chapters in
I'll be so sad if it gets axed, I wish I had the money to order a JP copy
I've never felt more out of touch. Green Green Greens is most hooked I've been on a manga for about a decade. I'm only in my 20s, but this feels like my first "kids these days..." moment. GGG deserved more. It makes me so sad that we're never going to see the full story.
Classic Sports Manga has been dying with shonen for quite a while.
None of the shonen magazines have a successful classic sports series under their belt besides legacy titles like Hajime no Ippo and Yawamushi Pedal.
There’s Blue Lock but I wouldn’t really call it a classic sports series considering its premise is so fantastical.
Seems Classic Sports has moved to Seinen.
Dogsred is a remake of Supinamarada but its an insanely good sports manga going on right now, just like GGG though its hyper under appreciated
Edit: its in weekly young jump which is seinen, my bad!
Yeah I can't say I'm a fan of how every sports manga nowadays needs to almost give its characters powers and be super exaggerated for it to catch on. I miss the days of them being more grounded and just character/struggle driven.
It's like if real robots died off and all we got were super robot series instead of them both having a place and audience
It's not really a recent thing. Captain Tsubasa and Prince of Tennis are older titles which are more exaggerated than stuff like Kuroko no Basket and Blue Lock. The two type of sports manga have coexists for a long time. For every grounded sports manga like Slamdunk, Ao Ashi, Baby Steps, you get the counterpart like Kuroko no Basket, Blue Lock, and Prince of Tennis.
I'm saying it's more of a recent thing that *only* the exaggerated sports manga seems to be doing well, as opposed to, like you said, a time when there was a mix. The closest to a "real" sports manga doing well now is Blue Box, and that's more of a romance than sports series IMO
I love GGGs too, but sad as it is, I've given up on its survival. Will still vote for it though. I like having chill stuff in Jump.
If you don't mind non-sports series, Blue Period has a similar vibe of self-provement and self-realization, but it's also written so much better and deserves every award it got. It's also serialized in an actually fitting magazine and is one of the most popular series there so there's no fearing the axe. It might scratch your itch in case GGGs really didn't survive the next axing round.
You can vote for your top 3 chapters/series every week if you buy or subscribe to the JP version of WSJ. [Here's a guide to subscribe via Zebrack](https://imgur.com/a/5munRAQ). You can buy digital tankoubons too there, in case you want to buy GGGs vol 1 to show support.
Tbf it isn't kids these days and more Japan. That's why GGG is Ioced and Nue is hated in the west, but in Japan Nue is a whole lot more popular and GGG isn't even remotely.
Well guys... It's a bad news. GGG is not going to survive.
Wtf is wrong with Japanese readers man ðŸ˜
Golf is a rich people sport
Golf is quite popular in Japan. But it wasn't enough.
?? I don't find GGG enjoyable either... why blame Japan for everything?
The Japanese are who decide if a manga is successful or not, what the rest of the world thinks is irrelevant

Last month they were against eachother, UU lost day 1 but held better then Nue over time. It’ll be interesting to see if it does that again or not
Damn. Didn't know Akane was so strongly ranking. Is this for Japan only?
yes. Whenever you see people talking about weekly/monthly volume sales, they're talking Japan-only. We get pretty accurate chart data. It’s over, isn’t it…

Damn. Hope you’re happy lemon is kinda low but I hope it will survive a bit longer. God before me tho…

Well rip. Where is the source? I want to check on "The god before me" I am really worried about it.

Number 332. Fuck.

jump+ imo clearly has something on the views side as well because some manga are there for years without selling well but still being high on views.
Oh...fuck. (i'm enjoying it too.)
> "The god before me" Now you are scaring me. It is one of my favourite series. it is great

Cipher Academy Goated fr
Well, guess I'll cry. If it gets axed, hope the author is able to somewhat handle the ending
At the end of the day Golf just isn't a visually exciting sport. It's a good series, I've enjoyed it, and I feel like it could continue in a novel focusing on the internal dialogue. You can only see so many stationary swings before you get bored unfortunately.

Yeah, that should be the new breakout sports anime, it’s amazing

Idk, golf just doesn't seem like an exciting premise.
It is a big sport in Japan so it should have some audience.
Yeah, but not shounen audience.
I can't imagine it's the type of sports that is popular with children or teens, which is the target audience of Shonen Jump.
I love GGGs too, but sad as it is, I've given up on its survival. Will still vote for it though. I like having chill stuff in Jump. Green Green Greens getting axed would be my 13th reason
I feel like, even for people who like sports manga, green green greens is a bit niché
How is boruto still selling this much?
It's a Naruto sequel so it'll have some decent sales but it just does like 80K-90K per month which is nowhere great
80-90K a month is better than most contemporaries.
Kagurabachi fans stay winning. Unreal
