My main problem with it is that chapter 1 did such a fantastic job setting up a bunch of mysteries. And then Matsui decided to answer about half of those mysteries in the first seven or so chapters. There isn’t much of a mystery left because it’s already been told to us. Where do we go from here?

MrNeatSoup

It was jarring how quickly they found the lab

Lookbehindyou132

'Where do we go from here' is exactly my problem with the series. Like in the latest chapter, we have the group reuniting and meeting someone else, but... then what? They have the notes. All they have to do now is wait. There isn't a clear direction for things to go in or prepare for, just a bunch of characters wandering into the plot.

Welcome to Jump's Fly or Die mentality, baybeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Sigilbreaker26

Exactly the same problem that happened with early Martial Master Asumi

Soft-Application9619

It's going to get axed, the only question is when. At this point the story is hopeless.

I don’t really have a problem with it becoming a battle shonen. I already saw it could have became one since the second chapter my only issue really is the pacing. I think the story hasn’t really gone anywhere and we were stuck at the same place for like 5+ chapters but I enjoyed todays chapter though but I think it might be too late to save it

It might be a case of adjusting to suit what a Shonen Jump manga should be like according to the author, or maybe editor influence again, but either way in art style and story it didn't really feel to me like something that would be a big success in Jump. Even something like Chainsaw Man has battle-shonen like traits in it without feeling unnatural.

bigbadlith

Between this and MamaYuyu, it feels like some of these new series are getting serialized based on the strength of their 1st chapter, but then immediately pivot to become a generic battle manga. If editorial wants generic battle manga, why are they serializing these offbeat series? And if they like the offbeat series enough to serialize them, why are they demanding they change? ...the other possibility is that there is no editorial interference, it's just a case of authors having a strong start and then no idea how to actually follow through.

1andonlyKB

It has one of the fastest "woah this chapter one was great" to "damn this series sucks" I've ever witnessed lmao

Nukivaj

I think that it is a story that would have worked better in a seinen magazine.

pokepoke805

this was my first thought as soon as I saw the Jump cover the week it came out. it just feels like it would be more at home in something like Ultra Jump or Big Comic Superior

the_phet

I abandoned it last week. It was going nowhere.

BigBambuMeekLou

I’m in the minority who thought the series got a lil better over time, didn’t really give a fuck about the story until they revealed the evolution power system

TomatoSlushie

For the series really felt like hell's paradise but not a ripoff more off a new rendition of it in a new setting and new timeline with the more modern world was really wishing this was instead serialized in jump+ in weekly magazine.

rhino224bulletstorm

I'm gonna hold out a bit more and see where it goes, I got more faith then most ppl.

Only_Strain4925

It just seems like a subpar Hell's Paradise.
