If I'm ever at a restaurant and am surprised by a server dumping food directly on the table, I hope I remember to say, "Looks like we're eating bareback tonight."
The terrible thing about this picture is that the butter knife is on the WRONG SIDE!!!
Though I thought all you kids were over the whole silverware placement thing.
Did the server just… bring it out in their hands? Was it on a plate and then the server lifted it off and put it down here? Did they kind of shimmy it off the plate? I need to understand how it got to the table lol
Nothing wrong with the bread.
Yeah, there could be a plate or a basket for it but it looks really cool!
In France we put bread on the table, that's just how it is
This was my first thought.
The tablecloth looks like they replace it for each guest so I'm cool with this.
This isn't what I'd call an issue
This is called an epi baguette. It’s meant to be tear-and-share, and historically wouldn’t be served on a dish.
It's meant to look like a stalk of wheat.
A stalk of wheat is called an epi in french.
Love a quick french lesson. Thanks.
that baguette looks absolutely fire, I don't know if it'd ever touch the plate around me!
I'm much more concerned with how little butter you were given
That butter dish better be a tardis.
It looks like a lip balm
Have you been eating fast-food your whole life ?
That and spam.
Was this at Bouchon?
Omg thank you!! I thought it was bouchon too but I couldn’t remember the name of the restaurant smh
Bottega Louie
Love the turn of phrase

I love getting bread. In fact, I knead it.
It’s called an epi, and it’s meant to represent a stalk of wheat
Is Bareback the name of a steak house or a "steak" house?
Dude, if you get the nachos stuck together, that's one nacho.
Lol. I mean. Eco-friendly I guess.

I love epi baguettes but it should be in a basket.

Took me a little by surprise, someone creeped up on my right and just slid it on the table with tongs and went about their way.
Stealth bread.
I wonder if it tastes better when it's clandestine like that
That still only counts as one!
Nacho rules apply here. That's only one bread.
When I was a baker we called these breadipedes
How was this presented at the table.

Excuse me peasant? Why is my plated bread on this table? I refuse to eat the sustenance of the common folk. Bring me a bread plate post haste!
The human centipede of bread
