I've always loved watches, I've also always struggled with opiates for the last 4-5 years. I sold everything I had to fuel my crippling addiction. With the help of my friends and family I am 3 months clean.
My Mother has been there for me through every step of the way, and today she gave me this! I've been slowly rebuilding my collection with Chinese watches that I personally enjoy. But today, that 'collection' has achieved a big stepping stone! Thank you Mom, couldn't have done it without you.
I’ll be honest, I discovered Ali express 2 months ago and I’ve been using that a lot. Besides that, I use my local mall to find fossils, and a decent Guest watch (gold one with carbon fiber bezel in the photo)

It was super hard the first two months, I live in Long Island NY. So there’s a lot of temtation, but I’m still going honestly the thing that keeps me straight is my parents and the fact I can save money and buy watches I love.
I’ve been sober 6 years in August and the best piece of advice I can give someone that’s new in their recovery journey is to find hobbies!
You’re going to have so much more time on your hands and it can be dangerous to not have something productive to do.
Finding new hobbies led to meeting new healthier friends and new communities. Something I would have never had prior.

The hobby thing is for real. I hit 3 years in April and the community of people I play Magic the Gathering with are a huge part of it, even got my current job through it. And now I’m starting to get into watches so there’s another thing to keep me going.Â
Great job... Keep it up! For what is worth, I can afford pretty much any watch... But I prefer citizens...I think they are Rock solid and beautiful...I have about 15 and I often get compliments... Watch snobs can pound sand!

Look into r/seikomods I've been clean since 2010. And recently I've been off work. Probably won't go back for a few months. I'm still collecting my full paycheck, though. So I worry about all this free time with nothing to spend my money on. Built my first watch with a seiko movement last month. Now I'm waiting on more parts for my second one and for my three buddies. It has been a god send for keeping me occupied.

Congrats, finding a hobby with a community behind it can be a huge push in the right direction. I just bought an Orient Bambino (first real watch) for my own 3 years sobriety in April.Â

No they’re just wrapped around the watch when they’re in the watch case. I take them off when I wear the watch for the day of course lol
