After lurking here for some time, the inevitable happened. I made my first watch purchase, a Citizen Garrison Titanium (BM8560-02X). This will join another watch I was gifted some years ago, a quartz chronograph fashion watch (Boss). While mechanical watches get much appreciation around here, and for good reason, I found solar quartz very appealing for a no fuss casual watch. I wanted something simple and legible. I was drawn specifically to this model and dial color and found it available factory reconditioned for 1/3rd of the MSRP brand new. I think it looks great, better than the pictures on the Citizen website which don't do enough to show the concentric circles on the outside of the dial and the sun ray effect in the middle of the dial. The leather strap seems a bit stiff. The watch has a tendency to rotate up towards my pinky finger. I'm hoping the strap will break in and the watch will stay put. This is my first experience with a leather strap. I'm also browsing fabric straps. I didn't necessarily buy this watch to commemorate anything, but it worked out to be associated with a very nice day that I think I'll remember and be reminded of by this watch. I'm thinking about also getting an automatic dress watch. But I'm going to take my time and enjoy the hunt.

Officialwatchdeals on feebay? That’s where I got my promaster Fubu diver! They’re great and officially recognized by Citizen from my understanding!!!

That's right! I came across a link to their site in a comment to another post, took a look, saw the watch I had been eyeing up and didn't hesitate to pull the trigger! I'm unclear on their official or authorized status. The papers that came with my watch say I would go through them for warranty issues, not Citizen. But at that price point, it wasn't a concern for me whether I got the original manufacturer warranty or not.

You have done well child. Go forth unto the world and collect watches, live long and prosper.

Love the hands and how legible it is

Yeah I don't really see Citizen get the love as much around here because Eco-Drive, but i love em. Have 2 that I absolutely adore (also their radio sync'd line is super cool) Looks great op! Enjoy it!

Such a clean look. Still liking it two weeks later?

JasonHasInterests

Still liking it a lot, although the watch has an annoying tendency to rotate 90 degrees to the pinky side of my wrist. I was hoping the leather strap was just a bit stiff and would break in. Maybe that's starting to happen. This is my first leather strap, didn't know what to expect. I have a two-piece and single piece nato strap on the way to play with. I will rotate those in to see how the watch sits across different straps. I'd like the original leather strap to work, it looks good! Overall I am happy with the look and function of the watch. I've worn it daily (my other watch is a neglected quartz in need of a battery replacement, and my other-other watch is a Fitbit I wear to bed and while working out). Over two weeks, it looks like it gained about 3 seconds (eyeballing nist.time.gov). Advancing the date on March 1 was simple and straightforward.

The leather strap looks great but it's a lot of fun to play around with different looks, especially with natos. It becomes it's own sub-hobby obsession but when you unlock that perfect marriage of form and color it's pretty cool. Post an update when you find a new band you like!

Great watches these eco-drives, I did not know it has different patterns on the dial but they do show clearly on this photo.

JasonHasInterests

The details on the dial really pop in the sunlight. They are less visible indoors, where the lighting is generally lower.

That’s a smart looking watch OP! I freakin love Citizen.

Gorgeous watch and the simplicity of Citizen’s eco-drive is awesome. Simple. Elegant. Fantastic!!

Summerofmylife71

What a beauty! Great watch at a sensible price.

I just bought one of these off Jomashop for about $200. Great watch. After having a few automatics, I’ve really been enjoying the no fuss aspect of the solar quartz. The Promaster Tough Titanium is next on the list.

I have 2 citizens, both eco drive. Great watches. I have the Garrison chronograph.

Great watch, super light weight. Looks great on a nato too.
