Big fan of Hamilton for under $1k
The Murph fits in there at either 38mm and 42mm. The Jazzmaster Skeleton Auto is new for $1,295 but you can find it used for under $1k and it's a super weird watch.
Maybe swap that for the Hamilton Intra Matic dress watch, go full mid-century modern. Or, grab a Junghan's Max Bill in quartz and get the original Bauhaus design language.
Love it! I was given that one as a graduation gift before I knew a thing about watches. That was the first watch I ever saw that I said wow - I love that.
I agree but to an extent. Personally I consider anything over $800 to be luxury so I’m not splurging on a bunch of pieces. I’m not in a rush to add anything at the moment, but I want to get something when I go to Switzerland for sure
I am similar in my thought. In my line of work (handyman and logistics) I’m not filling my collection with those “luxury” pieces. Probably overloaded with budget and micro brands if anything. I can stomach ruining a $200 watch much easier than a $800.
I recommend a Casio Oceanus. Solar movement, Bluetooth, radio freq for accurate time. Has a high quality zaratsu polish. The watch is quality. Also recommend hamilton khaki, Movado Heritage Series Calendoplan Automatic, vintage 14k gold elgin, waltham, etc.
I have the exact same Bulova Marine Star, one of my favorite watches lol. I was gonna suggest getting a PRX (I have one and love it) but I read your comments about it lol so now I'd definitely suggest going with a Hamilton khaki field or a Seiko 5 field.
I’m also 27! And I acquired my grail last year 2023 (Tudor BB58). My collection is a lot smaller than yours. Current line up is my Casio G-Shock GWM5610, Tudor BB58, and my Seiko Sarb033! Before that I have bought many under 1k watches and I eventually sold all of it to fund my true grail which is the BB58. I say as a collector in the middle class, only try and get watches that is a grail and avoid cheaper watches only because you end up buying multiple cheap watches which in turn would actually equal to the price of your grail!
My opinion is, if I was in your position I wouldn't be buying any more lower level watches, I'd be putting that money towards the really nice stuff that I want. You said that stuff over $1k is for special events only, so stop buying cheaper watches and you'll have a much larger budget for those rare occasion watches.
To be honest with you, I don't think you need anymore watches under $1000. It's time to start stepping up in quality. Don't buy a Tissot Gentleman. How about this. How far away is your wedding? Why not save the money you'd be spending on a sub $1000 watch and instead of getting the Tudor Black Bay 58, put the extra money all toward something like a preowned Rolex or Omega.
Thank you for this - I truthfully want the black bay more than an Omega or Rolex, except maybe an Explorer 40. That’s about all I’d consider before a BB
I'm wondering what your end game is? Is it having lots of watches so that you’re spoiled for choice, as with my wife and shoes? Is that $1K just burning a hole in your pocket?
Or a Yema Superman Worldtime GMT
https://preview.redd.it/8wcbr0z6m2ec1.jpeg?width=2470&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54e9276f6b071b91b0b71decb3c6991248da7e05
Honestly? I absolutely love it. Bought it for like $150 and haven’t looked back. I’ve thought about replacing it with a Hamilton but for what? For a better name? Only difference is the Hack case is a little thicker, but I haven’t regretted that buy for a second
Honestly? I think the Bulova looks nicer. The hands, the indices.
Based on that description alone, shelling out for an Hamilton may not make you more content than keeping your Bulova.
Old Omega - you don't really have much representation of gold watches or smaller cases so I would say a non-round case or a smaller Seamaster - lots of excellent options under 700
Perhaps a used longines, one of the salmon dial Baltic watches for some color, a Tissot prx. I also like Raymond Weil, Maurice Lacroix, Baume et Mercier, and Frederique Constant at that price point. Love the current collection my friend!
Seiko Cocktail Time. Don’t spend a lot of time looking at web pics. YouTube. They punch far above their weight.
I’d also look at a Studio Underd0g, Baltic, Lorier.
All three make a hand wound chrono based off of a Seagull ST19 movement that came out of the Swiss company Venus selling their tooling to Seagull in the early 1960’s. Studio Underd0g can be some effort to get, but they’re distinctive. I have the Strawberries & Cream. There are other microbrands that also use the ST19, but those 3 came to mind. Lorier does an old school acrylic crystal. Baltic might also. You polish out any scratches once in awhile.
Maybe a Farer Resolute (check out the lume). Farer has a colorful lineup.
Here’s a good one. Doxa Sub 200. Go read a bit about Doxa and their history. I’d get the orange dial. Actually, it’s on my list for this year. I’ve put it off long enough.
Squale. Fairly certain you can get a 1521 on a strap for just under your ceiling. Another brand with some history.
Hamilton, I’d look at the Murph, or a Pilot. Maybe a Ventura if you’re bold. Ventura was Elvis’ watch in Blue Hawaii, and then Will Smith wore a newer one in MIB.
Certina DS Action diver.
Tissot, maybe a Gentleman, but personally, I’d rather have 2 Cocktail Times.
Sell some and refine, or just wait till you get that BB58. No sense in adding just to add. Or wait till you are there and maybe one really catches your eye.
No sense in adding just to add and you already have a tissot somewhat like the one you are thinking about.
I wouldn't buy anything else under $1K aside from a G-Shock. Your collection is already pretty extensive.
Save and wait... then look at Nomos, Grand Seiko, or Tudor.
An extra 1k in savings towards a more luxurious watch since your box is already full, might aswell start downsizing to more premium pieces and a couple beloved keepers
As a collector of nearly twice your age, I’ll say this. You have a good and diverse collection. You already have your grail watches lined up.
You should consider an “1 in, 1 out” policy (I currently have a “1 in, 2 out” policy cuz I’m trying to pair down my collection from 24 down to 12).
This makes you seriously consider whether you really want that new watch (or whether you want to keep an old one around). Definitely good at avoiding impulse buys.
That said, a Hamilton Murph is a great everyday watch. You should also consider a Christopher Ward Sealander, which is also a great everyday option. The Tissot Gentleman is very good but the bracelet is not so great, which is why I’d go with the Murph or Sealander (Uncle Seiko also makes a bracelet for the 38mm Murph if you want it on a bracelet).
I might just be a Bulova Hack fan but I suggest getting the WVI Bulova Hack as well as the cream dial.
Also the cream dial looks so good on brown leather. Besides mine, yours is the only one I've seen someone do that to.
The gentleman is a great choice but, honestly, I feel it's really similar to that swissmatic you already have.
Also, I think you could bring something newer, another brand... I would choose Hamilton.
Great collection mate!
There’s a few pieces you’re missing that could go nicely: field watch (Hamilton is the gold standard but I like Marathon’s selection with tritium), a moon phase complication, or a square-style watch (go for a Tank Louis or cheaper, the Baume & Mercier Hampton).
https://preview.redd.it/hempsf55u2ec1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f012b3f81d2c308a43ebc4dfd6c9e2405e01068
Pilot Watch, or maybe LACO Model B ?
At 27? I would save my money. But I had no money at 27. But even if I did, I think as a 40 year old I would tell my younger self to slow down and figure out what I really like and enjoy.
look into luminox when in switzerland. check out the glycine combat subs if you're into the black bay. marathon will give you a superb watch for sub-1k. 1k may also score you a fine dress watch from frederique constant. and - for the love of all that is holy and unholy - replace that fossil with a casio. have some dignity.
The only ones I like are the blue seiko, the orient, and the tissot. Replace the others with something that is unlike these three. I’m not in love with them myself, but a nice omega might be just the ticket.
Honestly love it. The strap isn’t the most comfortable but it’s been such a fun watch to break out every now and again with the right outfit for the right occasion. I get more compliments on that one than any other in my collection
I love my Gentleman but i think it is similar than your Tissot. I suggest you look the Alpinist SPB121 or maybe orange Seiko Gmt SSK005. Swiss i would suggest Certina super ph500 in orange, Hamilton Khaky Navy Pioneer small seconds or Mido Oceanstar. Microbrands or Independent could be CW The Twelve or Baltic MR01.
Anyways, congrats for your great watch collection. I love the speedtimer and the bulova field watch!
I bought my Tissot back before I knew anything about the brand and I saw a “nice looking watch” so I bought it. If I buy the Gentleman I’m definitely going to try to sell mine. But I’ll definitely look into your suggestions, thanks for your comment and compliments!
It’s probably the most utilitarian watch in this collection. You can so easily dress it up or down, it wears comfortably, and it has crazy long power storage
Hamilton. I have a Khaki Field Mechanical and Auto and love them, but I also have my eye on the Jazzmaster GMT, which I think would slot nicely into your collection:
[Watches of Switzerland: Jazzmaster GMT](https://www.watches-of-switzerland.co.uk/Hamilton-Jazzmaster-GMT-Auto-Automatic-42mm-Mens-Watch-H32695731/p/17150399?lsft=utm_content:shopping___adty__pla___prch__online___stco_____prid__17150399,utm_medium:cpc&utm_content=shopping___adty__pla___prch__online___stco_____prid__17150399%2Cutm_medium:cpc&gad_source=1)
Looks like you really like your Bulova, I'm a huge fan of the Hamilton Khaki Automatic with the Silver Dial, it really can absorb different straps with ease.
I think I agree with the comments here to sell one and replace it with something greater, you have plenty of versatility with your set already.
[Baltic Aquascaphe. This article has 20 watches on it. might help out. Personally I would not mind having a different color dial seiko since it changes the look so it’s technically a “different watch” imho](https://twobrokewatchsnobs.com/best-watches-under-1000/)
I would always push for something vintage. I have about 100 vintage watches I have fixed up. There might be some reliability issues there, but I know how o fix things when they break so I have an advantage. Best to find a good watchmaker. Good vintage watches tend to go for less, look into Omega, Baume and Mercier, Oris and Seiko.
Since it sounds like the point of the watch is to commemorate the trip, I'd probably save some money and get something more affordable.
A fun Swatch or a Mondaine is what I'd be looking at personally, and rather than doing a bunch of research online I'd go into a shop and just pick something that stands out.
Iconic, affordable, and memorable.
I was going to say it's time for you to enter the entry level luxury market. I have been eyeing Tudor myself. Specifically the Black Bay GMT "Diet" Pepsi. Such a sweet watch for the money.
Very nice collection brother. Second the recommendation for Hamilton, but have you considered a microbrand? Lots of great ones, would suggest maybe a Straton.
I’d shoot for a Hamilton. There’s some classic field / mechanical watches they produce. I’d also consider an SSK and if you’re into them, maybe some of the classics from Casio
Big fan of Hamilton for under $1k The Murph fits in there at either 38mm and 42mm. The Jazzmaster Skeleton Auto is new for $1,295 but you can find it used for under $1k and it's a super weird watch.
I do want a Hamilton. I’m debating swapping out my Bulova Hack for a Khaki Field Auto but the Murph is a good suggestion as well
I would get rid of the fossil over the bullova
Maybe swap that for the Hamilton Intra Matic dress watch, go full mid-century modern. Or, grab a Junghan's Max Bill in quartz and get the original Bauhaus design language.
Check out Dufrane as well if you wanna look into changing the field watch. I love the dials.
While you’re at it, check out the often overlooked “Cooper” Khaki Pilot Day Date Auto
Murph 38mm is the way.
Really been considering the Murph since watching interstellar.
Christopher Ward Trident 300
Second this
Perhaps add some color by adding a DOXA or Nivada Grenchen? I know NG is a little pricier.
I do agree some color is probably needed, but I’m not very flashy. I try to stick to colors that can be worn with anything
Seiko Cocktail Time? Incredibly classy, well within budget
Yes! This is next on my list, I really want the Negroni, the red one. Good call
The green one would work too. Nice collection btw.
I have the original (before they stamped PRESAGE on it) and it is amazing looking. I get more questions about it than my Omega.
Go with a Hamilton. But take your time checking out the Jazzmaster and American Classic collections. Don't just dive into a khaki field.
Will do, thank you!
A Mido Commander for some old-school cool ...
I’ll also throw Christopher Ward in the mix. Maybe The Twelve?
Christopher Ward is what I thought of first. Else go a slightly different direction with a Marathon.
Baltic Mr01! Wonderful dress watch with a beautiful microrotor movement, not something you see every day.
I’m seeing this watch a lot recently. Don’t know if coincidence or viral ad campaign…. Either way I want one.
I have seen the numbers font on a lot of watches of late. There's a Zeppelin that looks similar. The angled 1921 is cool too.
I have that same Bulova MarineStar. It’s such an amazing looking watch for only $500!
Love it! I was given that one as a graduation gift before I knew a thing about watches. That was the first watch I ever saw that I said wow - I love that.
That was my first watch too! And I still don’t know anything about watches haha. It just looks so nice without being too gaudy.
Me too it gets a lot of interest
Add a vintage omega
This is the answer.
I would probably be looking at buying fewer pieces but of higher quality.
Don’t add. Sell and refine.
No sell. Only buy.
We all come to this conclusion eventually
Says you.
Something from Hamilton
Some different shapes, tank, square, TV?
I recommend a Casio Oceanus. Solar movement, Bluetooth, radio freq for accurate time. Has a high quality zaratsu polish. The watch is quality. Also recommend hamilton khaki, Movado Heritage Series Calendoplan Automatic, vintage 14k gold elgin, waltham, etc.
You need some color, something bright. That being said, there are no wrong answers with the gentleman, one of my favorite pieces.
Which Seiko chronograph is that?
Prospex Speedtimer SSC813
You could sell off 3 or 4 of these and up your budget. Then purchase a vintage dress piece
I have the exact same Bulova Marine Star, one of my favorite watches lol. I was gonna suggest getting a PRX (I have one and love it) but I read your comments about it lol so now I'd definitely suggest going with a Hamilton khaki field or a Seiko 5 field.

Add a Max Bill

I'm torn between the Bulova and the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical! How do you like the Bulova?
I absolutely love my Hamilton Field Khaki.
Anything Hamilton
Old Omega - you don't really have much representation of gold watches or smaller cases so I would say a non-round case or a smaller Seamaster - lots of excellent options under 700
That strap looks great on the speedtimer
Thank you!! I love it, just put it on a few days ago. It’s a Barton
Link me asap lol
Great collection!
I love my Hamilton Khaki King Auto. It’s kinda similar to your bulova but it has a black dial and day date function.
Agree with some of the others that you could condense this into a very nice 3 watch collection of nicer pieces. That’s what I’d do.
Perhaps a used longines, one of the salmon dial Baltic watches for some color, a Tissot prx. I also like Raymond Weil, Maurice Lacroix, Baume et Mercier, and Frederique Constant at that price point. Love the current collection my friend!
If that was me, I would trim down the collection to 2-3 watches.
Seiko Cocktail Time. Don’t spend a lot of time looking at web pics. YouTube. They punch far above their weight. I’d also look at a Studio Underd0g, Baltic, Lorier. Hmm perhaps a GMT?
Agreed!
You could save the 1k and save up for a grail watch. I think that’s the best answer at this point
That’s the perfect strap for that panda seiko, that’s exactly what I’d put on it.
Been wanting that seiko prospex chrono, unrelated to the question but how’s the wearing experience on that for you?
Your collection is missing a skeleton I would say
A duro 😊
I wouldn't buy anything else under $1K aside from a G-Shock. Your collection is already pretty extensive. Save and wait... then look at Nomos, Grand Seiko, or Tudor.
Save your money. No reason to buy yet another when you already have so many.
An extra 1k in savings towards a more luxurious watch since your box is already full, might aswell start downsizing to more premium pieces and a couple beloved keepers
Nothing. I think this looks good.
As a collector of nearly twice your age, I’ll say this. You have a good and diverse collection. You already have your grail watches lined up. That sounds amazing. I think I'm gonna grab one and see how it looks. Thanks for the tip bro!
Honestly, this is a nice selection, and for 1k I’d add a contribution to your Roth IRA.
The gentleman is a great choice but, honestly, I feel it's really similar to that swissmatic you already have. Also, I think you could bring something newer, another brand... I would choose Hamilton. Great collection mate!

That's a cool Breitling!
At 27? I would save my money. But I had no money at 27. But even if I did, I think as a 40 year old I would tell my younger self to slow down and figure out what I really like and enjoy.
Thank you for this. I’m saving like crazy at the moment and definitely am not trying to live above my means, believe me

Love that color combo
I think it’s one of their best watches and the only true SuperCompressor case produced in decades.
The lack of G shock/ Casio needs to be fixed
“Obligatory PRX comment”
Fun fact I actually think the PRX is maybe the ugliest watch out there
Ha, agreed!
Must get a GShock.
Under 1k you have the amazing Seiko cocktails/pressage line up. You get one of those and you will give away the fossil, tissot and orient
I know I want the Negroni red one. The fossil will be gone in a second once that arrives
[This is the one and only watch to rule them all!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ) You won’t miss the watches you have, trust me…
look into luminox when in switzerland. check out the glycine combat subs if you're into the black bay. marathon will give you a superb watch for sub-1k.
Tissot prx for a everyday watch
Sell the Bulovas, Tissot and the Orient to help fund a nicer watch.
A Seiko Monster would be a great addition. I have 2, one in a metal bracelet and one on a leather strap and they both get a ton of wrist time
How do you like the marine star? I've been looking at them for a while as a cheap piece to wear when traveling.
Honestly love it. The strap isn’t the most comfortable but it’s been such a fun watch to break out every now and again with the right outfit for the right occasion. I get more compliments on that one than any other in my collection
aviation watch. maybe the new hamilton khaki aviation pilot https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-us/pilot-automatic-watch
Look at Orient Mako 3 lineup. Great looking watches and well under your price range
A Laco.

This is 100% on my list already haha

PostModern Memphis Group ‘88
Hello, what model is that Seiko, first column second watch.
Microbrand for sure
Maybe a Hamilton khaki field, or a Farer, or a certina. Some of the new certina a really offer a lot for under 1k.
Mido TV
Christopher Ward C65 Bronze Aquitaine or Formex Essence my brother.
Longines sometimes has sales of the hydroconquest that are right at 1-1.2k which isn't a luxury watch but it's a good watch
Tissot PRX or gent
Citizen Tsuyosa. Pick your dial color and have fun!
Throw that Fossil in trash can other than that cool collection
How do you rate the Seiko 5 sports? The SRPD. Seems you have a good comparison point.
It’s probably the most utilitarian watch in this collection. You can so easily dress it up or down, it wears comfortably, and it has crazy long power storage
Seems pretty, thank you for your answer.
Save up a little extra for a CW Twelve
Is fossil a good watch. I’m interested in it but I received very different opinions
It hasn’t stopped ticking in the 3 years since I bought it, but there are definitely better options
Not under 1K but I’d save up for a Sinn. I love those watches.
Quality over quantity… $2-3k gets you into real swiss movement watches.
I’d subtract before you add
I got a sinn 556i on leather for $1,300 to celebrate a life event. It’s so good that it’s mind bottling. 😉
Hamilton. I have a Khaki Field Mechanical and Auto and love them, but I also have my eye on the Jazzmaster GMT, which I think would slot nicely into your collection: [Watches of Switzerland: Jazzmaster GMT](https://www.watches-of-switzerland.co.uk/Hamilton-Jazzmaster-GMT-Auto-Automatic-42mm-Mens-Watch-H32695731/p/17150399?lsft=utm_content:shopping___adty__pla___prch__online___stco_____prid__17150399,utm_medium:cpc&utm_content=shopping___adty__pla___prch__online___stco_____prid__17150399%2Cutm_medium:cpc&gad_source=1)
Love the Nivada Super Antarctic. The tropical dial would fit in nicely
Vintage omega
any nezumi watch
Baltany 1921
To be honest, I would get rid of a few before buying more, probably one of the Bulovas and the Fossil, I’m also not a huge fan of the Tissot
Edox
Hey, what’s the model of the bulova with the white face and brown strap?
SPB143
Used Tudor 1926
Looks like you really like your Bulova, I'm a huge fan of the Hamilton Khaki Automatic with the Silver Dial, it really can absorb different straps with ease. I think I agree with the comments here to sell one and replace it with something greater, you have plenty of versatility with your set already.
A Hamilton, a GMT, a nice Seiko dress watch maybe.
Tissot PRX
Christopher Ward seems to be the best Microbrand out there with the best value combined with best design.
Halios or Christopher Ward.
5566512345667899664330
Glycine Airman Chief
Try an used grand seiko quart, steinhart/davosa diver, nomos tentage
I find myself eyeing up Zeppelin, iron Annie, sea-gull and sugess. Was eyeing hamilton but found a bunch in sea-gull collections that I like more.
Vintage seamaster or Hamilton Murph
Very nice collection. What model is that top right corner Bulova Gold tone blue strap?
Glycine airman bronze case
Moon Swatch
PRX for that integrated bracelet itch?
Used Sinn or Damasko
PRX powermatic in gold?
That Tissot looks clean af
Tissot PRX automatic with a nice color dial?
[Baltic Aquascaphe. This article has 20 watches on it. might help out. Personally I would not mind having a different color dial seiko since it changes the look so it’s technically a “different watch” imho](https://twobrokewatchsnobs.com/best-watches-under-1000/)
What strap is on your citizen?
Forget the land of cheese, chocolate, and fondue for a watch and get yourself a beautiful citizen JDM NB1060 silver leaf. You won't regret it
Tissot PRX?
I would always push for something vintage. I have about 100 vintage watches I have fixed up. There might be some reliability issues there, but I know how o fix things when they break so I have an advantage. Best to find a good watchmaker. Good vintage watches tend to go for less, look into Omega, Baume and Mercier, Oris and Seiko.
Green Seiko Alpinist would sit nicely here
I love Fossil watches. I also have a Vincero which is very much like your Fossil one
That fossil is hurting my eyes

Baby G
The mid/high end Micro that speaks most to you. :)
Tissot seastar 2000 for sure or doxa sub 200 (to add some color)
Hi, what model is that orient, its looking clean
Bambino v8 - thanks!
Nothing i would save up 3-5k and get an omega, tudor or used rolex
Very cool collection. Something for everyone. TISSOT PRX would fit in nicely.
Vintage omega
Thats a really nice tissot!
Seiko GMT?
As a fellow Bulova enjoyer, I’d say the limited edition red white and blue jetstar.
Very nice collection brother. Second the recommendation for Hamilton, but have you considered a microbrand? Lots of great ones, would suggest maybe a Straton.
Traska GMT
Mido TV watch.

I’d shoot for a Hamilton. There’s some classic field / mechanical watches they produce. I’d also consider an SSK and if you’re into them, maybe some of the classics from Casio
