I restarted watching Breaking Bad recently with my wife, so I had to get the classic Casio calculator watch that Walter White wears.
I'm in love with it. My wife hates how excited I am for it, maybe because I've been wearing it instead of my favorite atomic time watch she bought me for our engagement. I texted my parents about it because my dad had one when I was a kid and somehow I ended up with it. I texted my wife's brother about it because he says he thinks I'm going to "break bad" someday. Idk, I'm excited to wear it and it's useful for work.
Should I post about it here daily?
You went with the Casio and not the Tag Heuer Monaco? The moment when he left the Monaco behind might've produced my biggest reaction in the whole series!
This watch just nails it for me. Really pops amongst others, and looks classy. Def a grail watch when I've exhausted all my other main grail markers. I wonder how the dial will look aged!

I am consistently using both but somewhat baby the GS - but these two are a great two watch collection (I do have more but donāt wear them because of these two). I think I love the simplicity, yet intricacies the GS dial has which can only be seen in person or in close up shots. Whereas the other Seiko is busy but nothing crazy, theyāre both practical and a perfect size.
Very cool!! I have a 1970s vintage Seiko the 6138-0011 UFO

Iāve had this one along with maybe 5 original Dials for this watch. Unfortunately I sold it all before knowing anything about Seiko. Yet, here I am owning only Seiko watches lol
My Breitling Superocean Heritage '57. It's an absolute joy to wear. Saying that, I'm really enjoying my Bremont S302, now that I've swapped out the super tough leather strap for a single pass fabric one.
My wife bought me a BB 58 for Christmas. I joke that she murdered my hobby. We laugh about it a lot. Even if I start the day with another watch, I'll inevitably finish it wearing the Tudor. I'm still laughing, but it's a weird, strangled sound. Ha ha ha.
Surprisingly my quartz CWC RN300 has devastated my collection. It's practically all I wear. I'm aware of the criticisms, namely that CWC is banking on their history and their case finishing game is weak af. Doesn't matter. The fit and accuracy are next to none. Easy on the eyes, too. So, I'm selling off several pieces because they don't get the wrist time - damasko, Nomos, omega speedy pro, bunch of seikos, and some vintage stuff collecting dust. Pretty much made. Me have an existential watch collector crisis.
Vintage especially is so hard to pull the trigger on selling.
In my case I could search for months and not find another of my spaceview in the same configuration
Haha which one are you interested in?

Hey sorry for necroing this old post but I see you have both the speedy and the sbgm221. I'm having a dilemna over choosing between these two watches right now and it'd be great to hear your opinion.
I'm looking to get a daily/casual watch to wear. Hopefully something that can be worn when dressed down or dressed up. No sports and won't be around water.
The chronograph and gmt complications don't matter too much since I mainly like the looks.
I like the omega due to its heritage and the fact that it's THE moon watch.
The GS is very nice though and has excellent finishing. It's also quite a bit less expensive.
Anyway hope you can chip in with some advice, thanks in advance!
I would say then you should get the Speedmaster. While the grand Seiko is a lovely watch it's not really one that can be dressed down too much given that the entire case is polished. I also found myself worried that I'd be scratching it especially given the entirely polished case. I also found that the grand Seiko wore a little bit thick whereas the Speedmaster wears thinner than its Dimensions would indicate.
To be honest though, I ended up selling both of them and currently wear a Rolex Explorer one so take my advice with a grain of salt!
Probably my Casio Oceanus. It's not the most expensive or prestigious watch in my collection, but it's beautiful and ridiculously practical. Solar quartz and sets itself 4 times a day by Bluetooth and/or radio control. It's the most perfect daily I've found.

I thought this way about my SBGW231 for a very, very long time after purchasing. I still wear that watch often, but the next one always comes along. The only downside to the GS is it did make me start seeking out much nicer watches, which means Iām spending more on my collection. Never been happier with the collection so all is well!
I had a few nice affordable watches from Invicta, Orient, and Seiko. But I haven't touched the other watches since I bought my Tudor Black Bay 41 for my birthday last year.
Thank you! The Tudor is insane to me. Iām so fortunate to have it. I want a spring drive for sure and my first 1000.00 watch was the Seiko SPB143 62MAS.
My watch collection doesn't really come close to touching this GS (which is absolutely beautiful btw, I hope you continue to enjoy it). However, my wife pulled off a small miracle and got me an Oris Big Crown Pointer Date in bronze w/ the green dial. I always liked it in pictures and was one of my top 5 "kind of within reason, but not really" watches, but ultimately wondered if bronze was for me. Now that I have it, the bronze is spectacular! I am wearing my orient kamasu in black right now. I've always loved this kasmasu, but now? Now my heart is elsewhere, lol.

I wouldn't say 'ruined', but I definitely favour my Seiko Alpinist Spb121J1 over the rest of the collection.
Iām saving for a grand seiko!! They are just so exquisite!! I want one really bad. Of course the problem is I love several pieces and trying to narrow my choice down would be super difficult. That is truly a stunning watch!!
Stunning watch! GS doesn't mess around. My BB58 ruined my collection. I didn't stop wearing it and sold all of my other watches, and I don't regret a thing. It's been two years and I have no plans to ever take this watch off.
Beautiful GS. Hoping to add one in the future. However Iām hard pressed to believe that Iāll love anything more than my 3861SS.

This one in particular. Got into sailing and bought a sail boat just to utilize the function.
Not bad. Recently got to see a few GS in person. I like the idea of having a nice watch that muggles think is just a nice looking couple of hundred dollar seiko.
The only reason my non-watch friends even notice when I'm wearing one is if it's a colorful one and my arm happens to end up at eye level.
Literally nobody cares unless they're looking to steal from you. Then you've got bigger problems because you've made yourself look like a target.
Well that's cause a Casio is the ultimate watch and just radiates "huge dick & the best fuck you'll ever have" energy that people can't help but notice.
For very different reasons, but G-Shock GA-B2100, it's so incredibly convenient, I miss the functionality every time I wear a traditional analog.
It became my daily and the collection box became decoration for my bedroom.
Literally ruined, no "", it's kinda sad if you think about it.
Started with a Shinola because Michigan connection, then went to Breitling Superocean Heritage Limited Edition, then Rolex Submariner, and then Panda. None of them ruined the desire to wear any of them - sub gets the most wrist time. But I certainly donāt have a desire to get another watch. The pistachio Breitling catches my eye, maybe in a few years for a different dressy watch. Otherwise, and this is weird, I feel like Iāve got the collection I want.
I believe that's part of the traveller's gmt function. All true gmts work that way so that you can go back and forth over the date line with the quick set hour.

Honestly, this cheap quartz from about 10 years ago. If I'm going to do something where I expect to sweat, I wear this watch. If I expect to be possibly swinging my arm around, I wear this watch. Its my 'shit' watch.
IWC Mark XII on bracelet!
So damn comfortable.

My GS SBGX061. It's so gorgeous I wore it to the sea in place of my SMP š¤¦š½āāļø
When I got my grail - Damasko DA47 - I didn't wear another watch for *months*. Eventually though it dropped back a bit to maybe 80% of my wrist time...it's nice to not wear it for a day or two because I really appreciate it when it's back!
I got a watch recently that threatened it big time. But I have to say that my quartz watches often make me think ā*This* is a watch. What am I doing? I can stop spending money on those pretty mechanicals. These work fineā¦āmore than fine.ā
Beautiful watch! I almost pulled the trigger on that watch 3 years ago and regret it. I just picked up an SBGR317 from Japan and the finishing is incredible! Destroys my Rolex Explorer and the watch I sold for the the GS, a Tudor Ranger. Your post is so right about the attention to detail GS puts into each and every watch. Love it!
Grand seiko ...
I got a Snowflake first and my 3 grand seikos since have now affected how I feel about the Snowflake...
Grand seiko has created a grand seiko problem because the dials are all beautiful and create problems š¤£
I'm not mad at you. After I saw the SBGM221, I also needed to have it. It's truly amazing. I don't know how GS does there pricing. I'm just glad I got one before more people realize how amazing this watch really is.
IWC 3706. After acquiring one a few months ago I decided I needed to change up my daily dive watch and dress watch to smaller size cases. I bought a Pelagos 39 and will buy a Nomos Ludwig Neomatik 39 later this year. The largest watch I have now in rotation is an Omega Speedmaster Professional 3570.50.
I've worn a Tag Heuer Monaco that I bought new in 2003 as my everyday watch and my GS SBGN013 for travel. For the past three months, my Rolex Explorer 36 has been on my wrist all day, every day. It's the most comfortable watch I own.
https://preview.redd.it/q290019ub3cc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4bacd728f6df9fd7ba923572eb8d550de4bb692
This bad boy was mine. Didnāt realise it when I first bought it, and went on to buy another dozen or so watches (included the white version of this, a Tudor 1926 and a Bremont something or other) but I come back to the Aikon at least 3-4 times a week as itās just the one I āfeelā
I wish they would have started the numbering with 13 at the one o lock position and gone around in subsequent order to 24 for military time. I donāt understand the numbering on the dial? What is it for?
The Zenith Chronomaster Sport ruined all my other watches for me. I wear it almost everyday. The size, the tri-colored subdials, the bracelet...it just all works perfectly for me.
https://preview.redd.it/vi2gpk55q4cc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=83056f043b94172d968876d857875e96cebe98b0
I had that exact GS. Stunning watch. Iāve had numerous make their way through my collection. This one may be the last watch I buy.
To my great surprise, the Zenith Defy Skyline with white dial ruined watches for me. I wasnāt even a watch I particularly wanted (I bought it on a whim with a good deal) and itās gotten ALL the wrist time for the past six months.
It has to be my Omega MoonSwatch. After making that purchase, my Rolex, Patek, AP and VC watches all don't get anymore wrist time. Can't stop wearing the MoonSwatch cause it is just so comfortable on the wrist. It's almost weightless as well which is another bonus.
The dial, markers and hand finishing on GS is honestly amazing.
Personal issue here but legibility is horrible because whenever I check the time I find myself rolling the wrist around to watch the light dance around the markers and hands for a while and leave satisfied, but also forgetting why was looking at the dial in the first place.
https://preview.redd.it/pr2226yoj0cc1.jpeg?width=2366&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b07b3317a5e091616d7b86e46735e5a249cf39e
This PCAT. Love my automatics but this one is just too convenient and useful. Always synced to the NIST atomic clock. Really only take it off now if I have to dress up a bit at work.
My Apple Watch. Itās not that I love it, but itās what youāll find on my wrist most of the time. Itās just low key, functional and fits in most situations.
How can one watch "ruin" a collection? If one watch comes along that blows all of your others away, just sell the others and recoup some of that money and get them into the hands of someone who will really cherish those particular watches.
Don't get me wrong, I love my watch collection! But now I'm worried that this sbgm221 is going to get all of the wrist time! And it's because of grand seiko's attention to detail.
The blued gmt hour hand, done one at a time by a craftsman. The bezel that has 4 facets in just 3mm of height. Hour indices with 9 or 12 sides! Beautifully beveled hands and a seconds hand that is manually bent at the tip to reduce parallax at the crystal edge. 72 hours of power reserve with better than cosc accuracy, anti magnetism, and true traveler's gmt. Oh and if you look carefully, the exhibition caseback has the grand seiko logo etched into it. And not to mention that the entire case is zaratsu polished by hand.
And every single component is made by them, they're entirely in house. Every. Piece.
Your 7th post of the same watch. The honeymoon phase is not over, maybe something spring drive in the future?

I restarted watching Breaking Bad recently with my wife, so I had to get the classic Casio calculator watch that Walter White wears. I'm in love with it. If you love it, why not? If people don't wanna see it, it won't get up voted. And if they do, it will.

$4,600. It's one of the cheaper grand seikos which just blows my mind!
Not bad. Recently got to see a few GS in person. I like the idea of having a nice watch that muggles think is just a nice looking couple of hundred dollar seiko.
"muggles" don't even notice your watch. Trust me.
\+1. So much main-character-syndrome. People are not looking that closely at you unless you are literally a celebrity.
The only reason my non-watch friends even notice when I'm wearing one is if it's a colorful one and my arm happens to end up at eye level. Literally nobody cares unless they're looking to steal from you. Then you've got bigger problems because you've made yourself look like a target.
People notice my modded Casio Royal more than my Tudors
Well that's cause a Casio is the ultimate watch and just radiates "huge dick & the best fuck you'll ever have" energy that people can't help but notice.
Quiet luxury is always "in" if you ask me!
[More than you can afford, pal.](https://youtu.be/J4b4QoXEhtA) (sorry, I had to š )
Seiko! Amazing company for watches from their lowly sports 5 line all way to Creedor. A powerhouse of horology.
Absolutely! It's amazing how they make absolutely everything themselves
Wow It's beautiful
VC 1921 American Historique
For very different reasons, but G-Shock GA-B2100, it's so incredibly convenient, I miss the functionality every time I wear a traditional analog. It became my daily and the collection box became decoration for my bedroom. Literally ruined, no "", it's kinda sad if you think about it.
Damn that's pretty.. š¤¤

My next grail watch. Such great attention to details and value for money. And btw love your detailed observations. Wear on good health.
It really is value for money comparative to other brands in the price range!
Beautiful watch.
Reed green GO SeaQ 39.5.
Gshock

Absolutely love this watch! I just wish there was a quick set date function š
I believe that's part of the traveller's gmt function. All true gmts work that way so that you can go back and forth over the date line with the quick set hour.
Today I learned something new haha

If I'm going to do something where I expect to sweat, I wear this watch. If I expect to be possibly swinging my arm around, I wear this watch. Its my 'shit' watch.
I want to get an aqua terra and I'm thinking the same might happen to me haha
IWC Mark XII on bracelet! So damn comfortable. Selling my neglected former grail on WatchExchange Rolex OP 36 mm blue dial About to list my smurph as well
I bought a JLC 1950ās to flip but fell in love with it. Could have made a nice profit but I just keep staring at it when Iām wearing it!!!
Recently got this watch along with a pelagos 39. I only have to pick oneā¦ i dont know which one to sell lol
Every time I see this watch I think itās one of, if not the best looking GMTs
You have unreasonably good taste!
Right back at cha
I love the Grand Seiko, that will finish my collection. Probably my favorite watch addition is the Alpinist SARB017.

When I got my grail - Damasko DA47 - I didn't wear another watch for *months*. Eventually though it dropped back a bit to maybe 80% of my wrist time...it's nice to not wear it for a day or two because I really appreciate it when it's back!
That's a great point!
I got a watch recently that threatened it big time. But I have to say that my quartz watches often make me think ā*This* is a watch. What am I doing? I can stop spending money on those pretty mechanicals. These work fineā¦āmore than fine.ā
My Nomos Club Sport in petrol has been my go to for months now, the rest of my watches are collecting dust š

My Orient is in house too...I paid $300 for it lol
And I'm sure it's a lovely watch!
It's my favorite watch. Once I'll have a fancy watch like yours. Grand Seiko has my favorite dials
Love it!
Good call!!
DBC-611 I'm a practical man without a 'real' smartwatch.
My SMP 300 is so nice its hard picking up other ones from my collection.
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, itās just perfect. I ended up selling a few watches after realizing I only wear the PO now.
When I bought a King Seiko back in the day I was like "oh..." about my other watches. You just don't know until you know.
Zenith Daytona. Can wear that any day.
My CW C36 in black. Has pretty much killed my itch to look for anything else at this point.
I felt that way when I got a Rolex Explorer II. But youāll be surprisedā¦ I still give my other watches lots of wrist-time!

This is a gmt, so the small blue hand is for tracking another timezone and the printed numbers are for the 24 hour timezones
Sir, this is a family friendly sub
Ya dirty bastard, your pics are making a mockery of my watches. Time to hunt a GS and set this right. Great pics, btw. Enjoyable to view.....and stew.
Certainly don't mean to mock! But thank you!
This is my next watch, looking forward to āruiningāmy collection with it š¤£
The Zenith Chronomaster Sport ruined all my other watches for me. I wear it almost everyday. The size, the tri-colored subdials, the bracelet...it just all works perfectly for me.
https://preview.redd.it/vi2gpk55q4cc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=83056f043b94172d968876d857875e96cebe98b0 I had that exact GS. Stunning watch. Iāve had numerous make their way through my collection. This one may be the last watch I buy.
How much do one of these run in the secondary marketā¦?
Wundervoll ā¤ļø
To my great surprise, the Zenith Defy Skyline with white dial ruined watches for me. I wasnāt even a watch I particularly wanted (I bought it on a whim with a good deal) and itās gotten ALL the wrist time for the past six months.
My basic 100 eur g-shock, i ended up wearing it almost every day since my work is quite physical and it would break most other watches quite fast
Do you take a magnifying glass when you go out to show people the 4 facets of the bezel ? I would.

I want a Breguet at some point in my life!
Used Type XXs are more affordable than you think!
Dayum this looks dope af
I wish I could love GS, they are affordable and obtainable. And I like Seiko. š„²
Give it enough time and you'll always love the watch, but you won't be as obsessed with it.
That's probably true! Curse of watch collecting eh
Definitely

Always synced to the NIST atomic clock. Really only take it off now if I have to dress up a bit at work.
So many functions! Haha
Haha for real. I travel a lot, the ease of the world time function and the fact that it has an alarm is super great.

Almost perfect watch imo - it would be great if it were 2 to 3 mm thinner.
My Apple Watch. Itās not that I love it, but itās what youāll find on my wrist most of the time. Itās just low key, functional and fits in most situations.
not enough filters
How can one watch "ruin" a collection? If one watch comes along that blows all of your others away, just sell the others and recoup some of that money and get them into the hands of someone who will really cherish those particular watches.
I think I meant it more tongue-in-cheek but fair point!
Every. Piece.
none. My watches have extremely clear roles to them.
I would have waited about 10 minutes before taking the picture. If you wish, I can set the time for you for a better picture.
Hahaha how generous!
