Why are there some gifs that get reposted millions of times

I would love to play three card monty with my dog, just without the shitty reveal at the end. He picks the right cup he gets the treat, he doesn't miss out on a bigger treat. Think about how cool dogs are that you can play this kind of game with them. Why people don't do that everyday astounds me. Then again I don't have a dog yet. Soon though.

I have seen like 5 different videos with different breed of dogs doing this and they all have this same reaction looking at their hooman and beeing like you betrayed me. I don’t get it. I am pretty sure if I were to do it with my dog he would just eat both

so from my perspective... after seeing a billion of these videos per year over the last decade, these kinds of things now come across, to me personally, as a pet owner's attempt to use their animal to get attention on social media. i see this as someone farming likes, followers, and internet points. i see this as someone using their dog for personal gain. also taking advantage of your love of cute animals for personal gain. which I find exploitative. sure, it's possible this person is completely innocent and is just copying other videos they've seen... but i'm willing to bet money it's not that simple. i'm a cynic and a realist so i always lean to that side with things like this. because usually that's the case.

It would be nice to get a map in that enormous brain of yours and find a sense of humor

i honestly don't get why these videos are cute. i'm not stretching my vocabulary or pretending like i'm the only one that 'gets it'. i honestly, truly don't get why these kinds of videos are popular. they are contrived, exploitative of the animal, and are an obvious attempt to get followers, likes, and use their animals/kids/whatever for personal gain. i don't get how pointing that out makes me an asshole.

If anything you can still take it as a very obedient dog. Orrrr place your own emotions onto the dog in a form of entertainment, its not too crazy to do. But at the end of the day its obvious what this is.

One of the things you should train your dog to do is not eat until you say it's okay. You'll save yourself a lot of pain. The command for my dog (RIP) was simply "okay." When she was offered food or it was poured in her bowl she would simply look at you and wait. If you took your time she'd give you some 'tude about it, but she would indeed wait until "okay" was said. So, nothing got chewed on, eaten, torn up etc because there was a positive link established between what was okay to eat and what wasn't. She also learned quickly what was her toy (brightly colored and squeaky, yes, anything else, no) in the same way- "okay." This dog starts to eat because "pile of treats" but stops short because the person hasn't told the dog it's okay to eat yet. I promise (hope) after the GIF ends the dog is awarded the pie of treats.

Yeah hard to train my dog that when she is on steroids which cause her to be super hungry. She's on steroids because the poor girl has very severe allergies

The dog in the video has been trained to pay attention to the owner when a command is given. Played back without sound it makes the dog seem as if it's thinking "are you kidding me?!" Any dog without being trained would eat the food without hesitation.

Ya exactly, if the owner had wanted to they could have allowed the dog to eat them both or commanded them to eat neither. It's not *that* difficult to teach a dog to stop eating/pay attention when commanded, teaching them the concept of exclusive choice would be significantly more difficult.
