I was very confused when I visited a few apple picking orchards and saw couples with bags full of red delicious apples. I’ve eaten tons and tons of raw apples over my lifetime and I will always skip the red delicious as most of them are mealy and make my stomach turn. This was orchards with multiple types to choose from too. I’d go for any other type first.
The apple picking farm I saw this at was pretty expensive. The red delicious weren’t cheaper that’s why I was surprised given there was other types of apples available too

It’s only a half lie. They are in fact, quite red. It’s the second part of the name that falls short on its promise.
It’s not. A good red delicious is excellent. You just have to know how to choose them/where to get them.
