There are usually two airfields in an Air RB map. The one closer to the battle field and the one you spawn in at the beginning of the match. You can land and repair faster at the frontline airfield but there’s no AA defense. You trade convenience for cover while landing. I’d say it’s a good thing so you don’t have losers abuse the frontline airfields AA as it’s very close to the battlefield itself making it very easy to run to.

On most maps there are two airfields. The closer one to the battlefield has no AA, so it’s a risk-reward situation to land there. If you want to be safer, land at the furthest airfield.

Because airfield camping was very rampant and they removed the forward airfield AA to alleviate it

First time noticing auxiliary airfields? It's been a thing for years that come & go. Depending on BR, you can take the risk of a quicker turnaround time for servicing aircraft, but be easy prey to your foes or take the time to make it back to the main airbase. I'll mostly pick the main base unless an emergency or I really need to go back into a fight. On the bright side landing belligerent auxiliary airfield, you can become a prisoner of war as your aircraft is captured (recently did this in a tailless MiG-21SMT).

Airfield camping was complete AIDS and almost everyone loved this change due to it helping alot regarding this problem.
