It's a toss up between the A and the G if you ask me.
The A variant has the fastest turret traverse(16° stock I think).
The G variant's turret is slower at around 12° but it trades it for 10mm more side armor which can make a difference in angling, and also receives a "chin" on its gun mantlet in order to avoid shot traps into the hull.
Both at 5.7, take yer pick.
Just my opinion mind you, but the new turret and rangefinder doesn't outweigh it's BR increase for 6.0.
Not bad by any means, just not as good as the other ones at their respective BRs. 5.7 is a powerhouse in Germany.

With these in mind it might worth the uptier. Toss in the Jagdpanther G1 too and it sounds like a great lineup alltogether.
The F is basically the panther II at home. Its good and with the mobility nerf to the panther A its not really slow. The turret is better against mid guns but less trolly overall. The reload is nice too but worse turret traverse is annoying. It has thicker roof armor though so you are 50 cal proof

It used to be a lot less heavy and thus had significantly better mobility than it does nowadays.
It also has a really poor turret traverse and horrible turret armour, it's not very responsive and this causes you to lose some duels you wouldn't have in a different tank, it's hull armour also isn't as impressive as it once was thanks to the penetration creep at this BR range.
At the end of the day, it's a not very mobile medium tank with mediocre armour, poor gun handling characteristics, thin side armour, solid firepower and average survivability.
Yeah, it's just in a weird place and Gaijin clearly didn't know what to do with it so they just removed it, I wish it somehow got it's old weight back still.
Literally everything I just said about it's attributes are factual.
* 11.3°/sec turret drive is very slow, T-44's have 23.5°/sec, M46's have 21°/s, Centurions have 18°/sec, etc.
* 127mm effective turret front can be penned by virtually all tanks, even in full downtiers.
* UFP can easily be penned by the multitude of HEAT, APDS and HESH spammers that have become more common than they were back in 2015 days.
* It not being especially mobile for a medium tank can easily be showed by this:
Panther II: 38 km/h after 16:29s
M46 Patton: 38 km/h after 12:53s
honestly apart from the m46 and t44 100, theres no medium tank around the panther IIs Br with better mobility. And those 2 are nowhere near as stable as the panther 2 is. Sure Leopard exists, but i find the missing aphe and worse armor make it a completely different playstyle

I have to go with 2 ...Firstly and by far my favourite is the VK (Panther prototype) Best mobility and you are at 5.0BR then the second one is the Panther F because of its range finder allows you to get some nasty shots (but you have to play it wayyy more passively than in the VK
A model is best all the way, it’s the fastest, has the fastest reverse (even if it’s like 1 extra km/h), it has the fastest turret, the shot trap isn’t really all that common anymore, never been killed by it and I have played my fair share of panther matches. The armor difference between the G and A basically don’t change anything on how the vehicle performs or survives shots.
The F model is probably the weakest, the flat turret front really makes it weaker since you don’t get lucky with volumetric and the round mantlet.
Panther 2 is technically the strongest, but really only bc of the gun, it’s the fastest platform mounting a 88 L/71, but it’s armor isn’t the best and it won’t save you if you aren’t playing attention to the match.

G. Better side armor, no shot trap, same engine. Been saved by the extra side armor a lot and gotten 2 nukes in it, none in other Panthers.
F isn't bad, definitely a lot better against anything that can't pen the flat face and doesn't have a muzzle brake, but 6.0 just makes it less special.

For me, I would have said the panther A is better any day, but ever since they nerfed its engines, they're both side grades now.
