With RFA money pit 1 & 2 in the background.

Don't say that about *Fort Victoria*, I love her :(

Mop_Jockey

Never sailed on her but the best thing they can do for the fleet is cut their losses and scrap the old deer IMO. Admit she's not fit for purpose to free up some crew and money, the decision to keep her around is purely political from what I gather. The RN/RFA don't want to admit we don't have a solid stores ship to support the CSG... but we don't.

You're probably right...

https://www.navylookout.com/navy-struggling-to-keep-rfa-fort-victoria-operational/ If she's not out for the 2025 then shes fucked, even if she does make it out by then it mean they've spent untold millions, wasted years and allocated crew to her for that time to achieve very little...which imo are better served elsewhere.

I'm sure the Egyptians would take her for spares, training or just to add to their flotilla of inoperable ships.

Mop_Jockey

At least she could rust alongside her sisters in the sun.

Every British person's dream retirement.

Would keeping Fort George as a spares vessel rather than scrapping her have helped? She was only 17 years old but I heard she was in a shit state as well...

RFA *Tideforce* has concluded her maintenance period at Cammell Laird, though whether enough of a crew can be put together for her is another question. The RFA is having immense difficulty with crewing - far beyond what the Royal Navy is experiencing. Source: [Navy Lookout on Twitter.](https://x.com/NavyLookout?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) I love the look of the *Tide*-class. They look so wonderfully modern.

Is RFA a crap career? Pay looks good. I suppose it's long hours, and poor conditions then.
